What WAS good in the 'Good Old Days'?

I don't think it's a mistake to apply it to other political awakenings, but an added take to the very clear main take.

The writers were, allegedly, quite versed in a hegelian understanding of politics and capitalism, and could have made that movie very similarly without it being a trans reference. But the trans allegory is clearly and most directly the story.

The trans thing comes out super-clearly in the Animatrix as well, in the "Second Renaissance" story when the humans are being super-bigoted against the early robots there are scenes that are basically just anti-trans violence presented as anti-robot violence. It's quite horrifying actually.

I heard the animatrix is sick and I should totally watch it

Yes, you should, but not while tripping balls. Maybe.

Ease in with Ink, 2009. Get your metaphor on.

Sugarhill Gang was good, oh that was 3 pages ago.

One thing that was better was being an independent software developer. The scope of programming being so limited that one person could make a hit piece of software by themselves or with one other person. Now it takes a development team.

Sure, software is “better” however you define improvement but it’s harder to squeeze yourself in as just a single person with total editorial control.

I thought the new matrix was surprisingly fine. I was warned it was horrid. It's definitely a mix. And ultimately quite decent, especially for a 4th movie in a series.

There are realms where individual developers can still win. In music software (speaking of music technology creating new styles). The main software synthesizer in dance music, Serum. At $200 a pop, Serum has probably grossed over $100 million. But that was a dedicated famous musician turned investor-programmer and another programmer. Serum was released in like 2012 maybe?

In 2020 a similar synth came out called Vital. Vital was free, with some goodies added at $20 and $80 tiers, as well as $5 a month subscription as the alternative to the $80. It took the developer 2 years. Judging by who was allowed in the discord after the first week, the creator made some hybrid between $80k flat and $5k/month. In the year since, those numbers have grown incredibly.

Then there's developers doing effects plugins (how to spice or warp your sound). They're pulling in decently as well.

Increasingly, solo plugin developers (instruments and effects) are being replaced by teams and as of very recently, conglomerates.

Moderator Action: Back to the good old days please.

I'd say it's like the Matrix trilogy. If you're trans or a communist or somewhere on the periphery, it's a laser beamed directly into your brain. If you aren't, it's about how women are given preferential treatment in custody battles
What does any of this have to do w rap music??

I know the golden tint is often masking some of the problems of the past.. Racism and sexism rampant etc.

But what actually WAS good?
CFC OT 2002
CFC OT 2008
CFC OT 2014

Fiftychat 2011.

Bunch of angsty virgins who thought they were smarter than other people texting nonsense. It was like the worst of OT. Only good part was no moderation.
Hah definitely the opposite of that ..

Uhm wot? Rolling Stones, Beach Boys, Jimi Hendrix, Tina Turner, Led Zepplin, Rush, Black Sabbath, Bob Dylan and Carlos Santana were part of the Sixties, and produced great music. The Beatles were overrated.

I said half if the 60's and said the good stuff was mostly 67-69.

I don't know if it has been said BUT I think it kinda depends WHERE you are from. For example the 90's could be seen as good old days for US BUT for Eastern Europe( especially Balkan peninsula) and Russia... 90's were nightmarish hell time.
I agree right now no place on earth is having a good time.
So I'd say anytime before covid was good old time.

No idea, you went in two directions neither seemed to have anything to do w rap music.

Three people liked it (including the person I was responding to directly). We had a whole exchange about it after the fact, and I'm not generally a poster of tangential nonsense. So clearly it had a meaning that others picked up on just fine.

The two directions are really one direction. I actually ended up saying the same thing twice, which I suppose is bad form on my part from a stylistic perspective.

If you don't know music but love hot takes, sure ;)
