What WAS good in the 'Good Old Days'?

My own experience with rap music is limited. When I was a teenager I would've complained about rap music just like any teenager that has just gotten into heavy metal, treating rap like it's some kind of great enemy that had to be slain at every possible opportunity. Now, I don't want to criticize anyone's choice in music, even if it seems bad because I know a lot of the music I listen to is trash and can be just as off putting and awful to other people. The only thing that I know about rap music is that it's influence can be heard in the kind of music I listen to in surprising ways.

I don't know if it has been said BUT I think it kinda depends WHERE you are from. For example the 90's could be seen as good old days for US BUT for Eastern Europe( especially Balkan peninsula) and Russia... 90's were nightmarish hell time.
I agree right now no place on earth is having a good time.
So I'd say anytime before covid was good old time.

Oh absolutely, its all perspective.

well i guess i always was :) i think next spring will be the ten year anniversary of my diagnosis
A diagnosis doesn't make a man. I don't know what your label was but be careful about letting the mental health industry tell you who you are & what you are and aren't capable of

I know you have a past with issues there, but trust me, I need help, and it's currently serving me reasonably well. I do know that it does not define me (thanks ^^), but is rather an affliction I'm living with.

Ok bro, I don't mean to pry or preach, all I know is my own experience which could be vastly different from yours, all the best, wish you the best!

I know you say because you care, don't worry!

Novelty records. Not a lot of David Sevilles or Clarence “Frogman” Henrys out there anymore.

When I started work I could retire at 60, now its 67 I have to reach and for my daughters it will be older still. I'm all for equalising retirement age between men and women but I'd have preferred it if we made things better for men rather than worse for women.

Given the Great Recession, I know I'm never going to see retirement.

Go until you get the grabber. Yup.

News websites before “sponsored content.”

Sure, I used to be the millionth viewer of a page, winner of the Jamaican lottery, and told I could grow up to five inches “down there” (but why would I want my feet to be that big? I have enough trouble buying shoes for my normal-sized feet here) but at least then the news had some credibility in claiming it was real journalism and against fake news. Now I go on CNN, MSNBC, FOX, wherever, and I’m inundated with fake news that’s not-so-cleverly peppered throughout the page.

What really gets me about news websites these days is that if they are reporting about something on social media they will used the social media's embed rather than just quoting what they say. This means that:
  1. The content can be changed or deleted and the story loses the content that it is talking about
  2. If you do not allow DRM or 3rd party scripts then you do not see the content. For example below is the last time this happened, completely pointless web page.
Spoiler Example of web page with unreadable embeded tweets :

I remember the good old days when we only had 3 channels and no video recorder. deciding what to watch was a lot simpler.

The content was better back then. Cosby Show (probably the best of its era, now ruined because of what we know about Cosby). Cheers. In Living Color. Johnny Carson if you stayed up late. Punky Brewster.
