What would you do if you could travel in a time machine?

I'd try to bone Jessica Alba before she became uber-famous.

I would dissapear if i went back before my conception.

Either:
(1) Go to the Mongol army advancing against Europe and convince them not to turn back just because their khan died, that Europe isn't really that poor and that a land of gold exists just beyond it. :mischief:
(2) Go to the Ming imperial court and convince them just how profitable colonialism can be. :mischief:

Nice one, sounds similar to the one I had in mind for a while;

I'd go back in time just after the peak and before the fall of the Persian Empire; I'd come ready with schematics of the most advanced military related implements that could be built in that period; trebuchets, etc. and warn em about the Greeks and Alexander the Great ;)

Use it selfishly, so that I set myself up for the future.

 Crap, Europe would get totally pwned!!!

I would travel to 5th century BC Athens and stay there for good. I won't even need a universal translator or any crap like that.

hmmm, I'd go visit famous persons of the past, you know the usual: Napoleon, Ghengis Khan, Sokrates, Freud, Beethoven, Billy the Kid :mischief:

I'm sure I'd have a most excellent time :D

Party on, dude! But you could only do that if it was for a class project...;)

This (not the Bill N Ted's reference) is something I daydream about a lot. I think it would be pretty cool.

Last month we roadtripped, and ended up in Dodge City, KS. Stopped by the old Fort Dodge, and did the tour. It was pretty interesting. The Wild West is something I'd like to see too.

Tell my younger self that dressing like this:

Isn't cool.

Oh, and pre-purchase tickets to the 2005 Champions League Final.

This is impossible (not because we can't do it, because it's logically impossible) but if it was possible I'd go to Octavian Augustus' Rome.

Or I could go back 2 weeks and, knowing the lottery numbers, get rich.

"Remember that if you travel back in time, do not do anything because a single change could alter the world in a way you cannot imagine" Grampa Simpson, loosely quote, not for total accuracy.

I wouldn't make any big changes back in time. I would wait two weeks, keep an accurate diary, and then travel back in time a few days, find a hotel room with a television, and buy a lottery ticket with winning numbers. I would then spend the rest of the day in the hotel room.
I would return to my own time with the ticket and claim it. I might wait to do this bit until there was a lottery prize worth claiming, because I doubt I'd get away with winning the lottery more than once. I could repeat the hotel-room trick with stocks and shares that my lottery winnings had bought me.

Then I would start going into the future, and try to find technology to bring back, patent and call my own. With my lottery winnings I would found a technology company, use it for making money from my 'inventions' and grow it into a huge multinational. In 50 years' time I would then remember where my first flight into the future took place and lay out all the necessary plans and inventions for the 50-years-ago me to collect.

Go back to the time of my parent's childhood + teen years and hang out with them (very childish and silly, but I think it'd be pretty cool. :))

I'd also like to see how the world really looked like before color pictures (it wasn't black and white, I'm sure...)

I would go twenty years into the future and check out where I'm going.

I'd go into the future and pick up a Mr. Fusion, see what stocks I should buy up and then go back with all my knowledge and Mr. Fusion.
