wha'ts the reason you choose your names and avatars?

after reading farting bob's reasons to choose his name, I was wondering about the rest of us.
some are real names, other funny names and other some kind of mixure

what is the main reason you choose your name? or what's the meaning, since we're from many different countries.

also about your avatar, you chose it just because or it has something to do with you?
lets share it!

here goes mine:
Althoug my name is not Zcylen I chose since I have to make a short film for school, I was going to be a russian drug seller and I was free to choose a russian name.
So I decided Zcylen Alexei Volkov will be just fine.althoug I was killed by my rival Mr Hitasura...anyway.
and my avatar was because the domain of my e-mail is "fighter.com" so I thought it would fit good.

No idea... I've been having this name since May 1995, and I forgot the reasons.

As for my ava, it was the first Civ unit (other than settler) I have ever seen.

I chose mine cos i watch the TV too much and was watchin the simpsons while tryin to think of a name, it changed from Hellfish to Sgt.Hellfish while playing AVP2 and Ive used it ever since.

My avatar cos I like sea warfare and think it shud have a bigger impact plus the thing just looks cool

nick is from the cartoon Animaniacs. It's from a phrase in the cartoon. I've had to explain so much about how it's not an actual character but just a phrase that I've just gave up.

the avatar.. well I like star trek... But what I really want is a pic from the pen/paper RPG Rifts:Earth. Does anyone know somewhere I can find pics of units from Rifts? I've looked but to no avail.

My nick is the actual nickname of Sammy Hagar, former lead singer of Van Halen, which is one of my favourite groups.

I chose the Infantry as avatar because it's the unit I use the most, and it looks cool

Been using Cromagnon for my game-related usernames. I really have no idea why.

Initially I chose the nuclear sub avatar, but then the warrior seemed to match the name muuuch better.

have you tried google.com in the image section?

I play Russia exclusively (though if Spain had been around for Civ3, it would've been different) and got used to seeing "We love the Czarina" day. Also, no one else had it already!

Avatar: the Cossack is the UU for Russai, but I don't go the war route too much. What I would loooooooooooooooove to have is an avatar of the Mother Russia statue. It is absolutely awesome, similar to the Statue of Liberty but more dynamic: it depicts a woman striding forward, sword upraised, as if rallying an army or the people.

Any hints on do-it-yourself avatars?

Well, I decided to go with "provolt" because I am very un-original when it comes to naming things. It's my last name. I've used it for my screen name for almost all of the last decade, so why change now.

And I'm an electrical engineer, so it kinda fits.

And maybe when you hit 300 posts you could use the logo of the Hellfish as your custom avatar. (I have no idea where you'd find it on the internet, though.)

I got my username from my real name, William Johnson. And for my avatar I made from scratch a shield with a W and J on it. Beautiful, ain't it?

Yes, long live mother Russia, a truly wonderfull land with twice as wonderfull people.

By my username you can guess who I favour playing when enjoying SMAC. (a far superior, and inferior game to civ3 in many ways) The purity of thought, the logic, the clear-sight...aaaah, perfection. Chairman Yang is a natural born bone-chiller.

I chose this avatar cause ´twas the only thing with a red star on it, closely related to my political beliefs, which im sure none of you here would like to hear at present.

I loved that game. Those old adventures rocked. Sam and Max, Full Throttle, Simon the Sorceror,... Those were the days. Apparently the genre is not that profitable any more. Apart from Grim fandango and Monkey Island4 I haven't noticed anything decent in recent years.

I took the name from the character from one of my favorite books, "The Three Musketeers". Dart is short for Dartangnan, a name I use in other games I play. It's been shortened over time and I've just adapted to it.

And I have no avatar at the moment because I haven't taken the time to get one yet.

Thunderfall is a powerful magic spell from Dragon Force, a Sega Saturn RPG game. The spell is kinda like the Chain Lighting spell from Heroes of Might and Magic II/III.
