Horror: Silence of the Lambs, Scream *ducks incoming missiles* I quite liked the first one. Wasn't scary, nor are other horror films, but was original in its day.

Gangster: The Godfather Part I, Goodfellas, Scarface are all inseperable.

Sport:Any Given Sunday, The Rocky Trilogy (Trilogy as only 3 count) Remember the Titans

Drama: Shawshank, Usual Suspects, Se7en if 'drama' is the right title.

Sand & Sandles: Gladiator, Cleopatra, Spartacus
 
I'd like to add most of prince of Leighs films to my list (never seent he Godfather films, don't know why) Escpecially Sparticus. I'm friggin Spartacus.:) Oh and The Ususal Suspects is just class.

Urg - look at BladeRunner everywhere. Man, I HATED that movie. It was one of the few movies I've actually turned off because I was so bored.
2001 made me nauseous, so I didn't finish that one either.

I have to admit that I've watched Aliens a ton of times; I quite liked it.

Really, I just love anything Kubrick did save Eyes Wide Shut, and I would have probably liked that had it been his own cut not the studio's -- in fact, I would recommend watching the UK cut as it was done by his daughter.

Edit: my fiancé certified that as a pretentious comment.

I loved Eyes Wide Shut; I saw it with 8 people, and 6 of them were rolling their chairs with boredom. I was enraptured. A lot of the movie was spent watching Tommy-boy thinking, and for those who weren't in the 'mood' for the movie were just bored. I absolutely got into his mind-set though, and was thinking right along with the character.

I don't think I could watch it again, though, I think you needed to be in a certain mood to see it.
