Does your definition have to do with the number of people or the activities?
Please note I did not put this in questions not worth their own thread because there are a lot of nuances that can be argued for or against, not really a simple answer.
I am staying with my mom until I leave for school at the end of the month. On new years eve I asked her if I could have a kickback while they were out celebrating somewhere else.
She said "Sure, no party though, just a kickback"
So I had 15 or so friends come over, did the regular things BBQed, drank - played some flip up, danced/ played some music loud, I DJed
(obviously the neighbors were cool with it beind new year and all)
When my mom got home with my uncles/aunts/older cousins/step dad etc she pretended to flip out "WTH this is a party, the music is blaring, there are bottles all over the place!, and what is this? Drinking games!!!!!"
Then they all proceeded to drink/dance as well, because they are old yet still cool
And it got me thinking, what exactly is the difference between a kickback and a party?
^ That is the thread topic, to be clear.
Here is my opinion:
1. There has to be at least 1 female for every guy there, single or not. It just helps the yin-yang of the situation. To many drunk guys and too few women usually results in an unnecessary amount of arm wrestling and or drunken LAN party.
2. Dancing - if there is no dancing it is not a party. (Note this may only apply to Latinos)
3. *Amount of booze - A poorly stocked party is no party at all.
4. Amount of people - I can't be arsed to put an exact number here, but can you honesty call 10 people a party? Of course not.
* I am not joking when I say this: I've had some pretty cool after school (when we had half days) lawn dart and *tea parties. We may or may not have smoked some blunts, play lawn darts/ flag football soccer (real football) etc And it was a good time, but twas no party.
* Yeah that sound strange, but my tea is teh bomb, trust me.
