When posting...

Frequently - particularly if I'm arguing with somebody, it's quite common for me to decide 'actually, I don't care about this' and give up on the thread.

Also, sometimes I just don't want to have to answer 50 million replies to it, either because I know lots of people will disagree, or because I know one person will disagree, and they're the kind of person that just doesn't shut up, even when they're demonstrably wrong.
This happens to me a lot - I discourage myself by imagining the replies that my post might generate that I'd need to address. Of course, I usually just don't even start to reply rather than start & then scrap it.

Mainly because I'm not on here a whole lot (although I do lurk without logging in a decent amount) so unless I'm planning on checking back in every 10-15 minutes for the next few hours to check replies, like when I'm playing a game & can take a break every now & then or just Alt-Tab over, I'll avoid stuff that would probably lead to a back-&-forth discussion & stick more to just fact-based posts backed up by links, or even go the opposite direction completely & post something that's purely opinion & can't really be deeply debated.

Also, I sometimes use long run-on sentences.

I've done this a few times.

Happens at least once or twice a day.

One of the reasons I say so little here is because I'm very good at censoring myself.

...have you ever scrapped a post, thinking "No, this is stupid and doesn't contribute to the thread"? How often does it happen? And how many times is it true?
All the time. These posts basically come in the three categories:
- "this isn't really as funny as you think it is"
- "this isn't really contributing anything worthwhile to the thread"
- "this won't do anything good but inflame the discussion"

As you can tell, the posts that end up scrapped aren't that much different from the ones I end up posting.

My posts have to meet all three criteria before making it through quality control.

Occasionally I do a post and then I'm like 'f#@% it. Not worth it.' Occasionally I'm making a post and I'm just not finding the right wording to say what I want to say, and so scrap it.

I do this, but I also poorly edit my posts so bad grammar and wording is posted anyway.

Yeah every now and again. I'll want to get involved in a thread, but struggle to find anything meaningful to post. So I'll just backspace and think feck it, I'll find another thread.

Dammit I was going to do this.

I have loads of scrapped posts.

I just reword JRs throwaways.
