When do you think the USA will collapse from being the major world power? Before you say "NEVER!", remember that every other world power in history has collapsed and fallen from power, and they most likely thought they would never fall from power. If you are going to say never, dont do it.

Personally, i believe it will happen in the next 10 years. Most likely the President will start a war that the people disagree with (moreso than Iraq), and the new leader crashes the economy or something like that.

In the year 2000!

I just got Déjà Vu and flashback took me right back into year 2000.

I don't think a war will be the real reason for the inevitiable decline of the U.S. The economy will make it collapse and it will probably happen within the closest decades. But it won't be sudden event it wil more be like a long decline (which has already started). But in 20 years people probably won't consider the U.S. the greatest power in the world.

I don't think the US will 'collapse' as you put it, but I do think the US will stop being the only superpower within 25 years as China will become one. I greatly fear conflict with them, but hope we find a way to have a peaceful relationship with them. Arguing over trade like we do with the EU is the worst I hope to see. Another "West vs East" style Cold War would not be good. Hopefully it is a peaceful key four of the USA (preferably AU), EU, India and China or whoever else gets their economy going.

Hopefully not too soon. we have enjoyed a rather nice spell under a passive superpower. (once they get rid of that aweful President, I hope the US recovers)

I have mixed feelings about this. There was a time when the US was a stabilsing force, a friendly uncle. This changed since Vietnam as the political class has been subverted by the corporations who are now using the US people to further their own commercial ends. This is exactly what the Communists feared.

Anyway to answer the question: the US decline follows the decline in Hollywood.

Hollywood was always the real source of US power, portraying Americans as good guys lacking sophistication. Who'd want to kill a countryman of James Cagney John Wayne or Cary Grant? I realise he wasn't US, but he played an American. Now ask yourself the same question for today. Who'd want to kill a countryman of Tom Cruise or Quentin Tarrantino? You get a different answer.

I say GWB has already damaged the US irrepairably, but he had help from Hollywood.

Quite. Hollywood did more to bring down the USSR than SDI plans.

If you want to see the future of the US post superpower, have a look at Britain. They were once the world's top superpower, and it seems to me that they are quite content to be relieved of that status. They're still a very influential country, but not being top dog really takes alot of heat off.

It will never lose power, but it will stop being the only major player in the leauge.
Without competition the US has grown arrogant and though its power is great now, it will decay over time.
Right now, the US can get away with anything. Enjoy the status while it lasts.

I realize that the USA won't be the "ultimate super power of all time" forever. I don't exactly like the status either because of unwanted attention it brings. Not even getting into bush at all. He simply dealt with an already established problem (badly, I will add).

I just hope it happens slowly over time and not all at once. Hopefully american wealth will not totally dissipate totally throughout the world. I would shoot for a lap dog status like the UK enjoys. :)

Let China be top dog for a while and see what they are missing. :p

About 100 years or so I reckon before it becomes part of a mass of powers. I've always liked the idea of continental or sub continental unions wielding huge power across the globe, but it's take a bit more common sense from humanity for that to happen and a bit more of a working together for common interest mentality which is somewhat lacking atm.

If it decides to continue with the policy of agressor then perhaps less than 25 years, depends how long it takes for it to piss off enough people in a consistant manner. I am cautisously optimistic it will stop being so gung ho about diplomacy though, this policy is worryingly innefective but even the most ardent agressor has to grow up and face reality some time. It's somewhat like a colonial anachronism in it's political approach, it's very disconcerting.

The US will fall from power with the rise of the AntiChrist in Europe. No way of knowing when that will happen. I went ahead and voted > 100 years because even without the AC coming, I'm sure the US would wane someday, but that day is far, far off.

Dude, WTH are you talking about. You making us Missourians look bad with that Fundie crap. Not to mention other Americans. Please.

You are not serious?

Yes the only reason the US will fall is because of foreign devils!

Yes, I'm serious. Take heart, though, as I am not going to lose any sleep over you believing differently.

 good because that findy clap trap doesn't play well any where but amongst fundies, feel free to send me a Christmass II card from heaven while I'm paddling around the lake of fire though, and I'll conceed your point.:) :p

Why can't you be one of the fundies that think that fall of Bablyon, rise of Jerusalem stuff already happened.

Or even better one of the Christians who thinks revelations is nonsensical rantings and should never of been included in the bible.

Anyway I think The AC is meant to arise in the Middle East not Europe.

Fair enough. I too take pride in being from missouri as you obviously do. I just don't want us all be seen as christian fundamentalists. It's an unfortunate and popular image for the USA and especially the mid western states.

I don't care either; you have to realize how some beliefs are damaging to our image as far as science and education are concerned.
