You are wrong. I am the Anti-Christ and the Whore of Babylon! HAHAAHAH!!!!

Erm that'd be difficult because you'd have to have given birth to yourself and that throws up some wierd inversion thing as you popped out of your womb? In fact it's busting my head just thinking about it. Seriously think about about it :ack: :vomit:

If you want to see the future of the US post superpower, have a look at Britain. They were once the world's top superpower, and it seems to me that they are quite content to be relieved of that status. They're still a very influential country, but not being top dog really takes alot of heat off.

Too true. I have a feeling that sometime in my life, the US is going to be all too happy watching China and India get the heat for all the world's problems...

I dont think it will anytime soon.

Just because our economy isnt the best does not mean we are about to collapse.

We are very influential in modern scientific medicine, computers, and almost anything else i can think of.

Not to mention the incredibly high standards of living that we have as a result i dont see us becoming a minor power anytime soon.

This is not something we can estimate just yet.

Dude, WTH are you talking about. You making us Missourians look bad with that Fundie crap. Not to mention other Americans. Please.

You are not serious?

He was obviously joking...

Its actually funny that you took that seriously.

Lose power? Not anytime in the forseeable future.

Lose the sole-superpower status? In some decades, it is almost certain.

Not that they will care  They don't care when their own citizens complain of problems why would they care if other countries did?

@MobBoss no country can remain strong forever, eventually the tectonic plates of power will shift and more powers will rise and the US will be unable to exert its power and influence as it once could and will lose its sole superpower status and power projection abality. We are seeing that happen now.

We definitly wont be the only superpower for long.

I can see china becoming a super power. But not india. They have enough domestic problems and they arent very influential on world affairs.

Population does not equal power.

I agree. But there is no evidence that we are losing super power status even soon.

We are a major player in the world economy and scientific research. Our military is probably the most high tech on the planet also. Do you know how much money we spend on defense? Its so much that its wasteful.

I'm believe that in 25 years the natural disasters will have a devastating effect on the power of USA. But I hope that my faith isn't that strong :).

What? You think because of one major hurricane in several years that our economy is going to be crippled?

India gets tons of monsoons and destruction every year so if they are able to become a superpower why would a couple hurricanes destroy us?

Our economy is no where crippled. Look at all the american products that are sold in other countries.

And il remind you that the national debt doesnt effect our economy. Business is definitly seperate from the state in the United States.

Power= work done/time taken.

So work hard and effieciently and you'll achieve power :)

Mob Boss your patriotism is laudable, but the idea that a superpower always remains the top dog is historically naive. Give it a few hundred years tops and they'll be more than one competing player I have no doubt. But then that's my opinion.

No one knows the future my dear Silver. How do you know the US wont absorb Canada and South America in the coming future and create an even larger Superpower?

The poll isnt asking will the USA remain the sole superpower...it is asking when the USA will lose power. Not the same question.

So what if the USA isnt the sole superpower in 30 to 40 years. It will still retain vast influential power regardless. For the USA to lose power, it would take an unforseen event of a world shaking magnitude at this point. That is nothing any of us can truly see on the horizon.

Basically the only way we are going to lose power is if:

1. A civil war happens and the country is splintered or weakened.

2. We are invaded and defeated.

3. Nuclear War!!

Otherwise we just have too good of an advantage in our geographic location, and climate which offers a wide variety of economic advantages.

Why would it have to be a sudden collapse? why not a slow descent into mediocrity? I mean, how many empires fall because of a single, sudden cause?

No, I don't mean that you get one major hurricane in several years. I mean that you'll get several major hurricanes in every year. Global warming melts the glaciers and the water level rises.

India is used to monsoons - they've lived with them forever. And monsoons are expectable - huge hurricanes are always somewhat randomly generated.

Your economy is mainly based on oil and greed. Not a good combo IMO.

...atleast that's the way I see things. :)
