Khmer is a cool choice though, they had great architecture (i once created a Khmer city set, and i still regard it as my best graphical collection). Siam is indeed more or less the same, although (iirc) they co-existed for a short time, Siam was a vassal of Khmer i think (not sure), and later on Siam just became the new dominant power in mostly the same region of the southern part of east Asia. Again great architecture, but different from the one of Khmer (Siamese architecture was less monolithic, more about delicate patterns, whereas Khmer architecture had far more powerful and dominant forms, as in the Anghor Wat).

Khmer is a good choice, but we don't need Thailand if we have Khmer, because it is nearly the same.

============================

Maybe they could add the Czecho-Moravia or something like this. With unique unit the Hussites.

NA and Africa, and the modern era in general, are probably over represented, but whatever.

What's a "civilization"?

Need an Arctic civ to turn Tundra/Snow/Ice sites into something interesting. Perhaps a Trireme UU with a promotion for traversing Ice that would be interesting for exploration. Also something for boosting Tundra/Snow yields.
A dog sled unit would be cool! (pun semi-intended ;))

Canada xXx

And the leader would have to be Pierre Eliot Trudeau!

You have already Holland as a typical "trading civilization".

So we don't need Portugal, which was essentially the same as Holland but less important, and was united with Spain for a long time.

Portugal was much richer than the Dutch for much of its history and was the richest country in Europe for centuries.

uhmm.. what did Poland do to be worthy of being included in Civ by the way?

Also, Brazil is there to represent South America. SA only had Inca in the whole Civ4.
And no, Siam and Khmer are not the same. They're more different than Sweden/Denmark/Vikings and Portugal/Spain.

Wikipedia is your friend with Poland. But suffice it to say they were a huge power in Europe for hundreds of years. The English speaking world (and western Europe really) doesn't know much of them though because firstly, being on the other side of the continent we had less interaction and knowledge of them than local powers like France, Spain, England etc. And secondly, because of the iron curtain meaning western historians couldn't really touch eastern Europe for the entirety of the revisionist period where people could have been made aware of the significance of Poland.

Sources ??? Proofs ???

Also do you mean that the people were rich or that the state treasury was rich, because these are two different things?

The state treasury of Spain was richer.

Some historical GDP per capita estimations here, but Portugal is not included:
