So, as yuletide approaches it is time for us to gather around the tree [or civfanatics forum ] and share the chrimbo memories.

Which game will you be playing this xmas, and is there any special reason why?

I'll be playing the original Supreme Commander - purely because I have developed an infatuation and haven't had any time to sit down and work it out of my system yet :D

A bunch of DOSBox games due to breakdown of CD-RW device.

So, it's Blood, and X-COM: UFO Enemy Unknown, and maybe WarCraft (that game's seriously difficult!!) as well as trying to beat levels 88, 89 and 99 of N. MUST SUCCEED! Tomorrow's a holiday decreed by the state in order to bolster the happyness of the people and greatness of the nation. Toggling sliders just like in Civ.

Thanks for the thought

but I have no way to pay for that. I have no electronic means of payment. :(

Morrowind and Disciples II.
Both oldies but goodies.

Mario Kart 7 is what I'm really looking forward to having. Mario Kart DS was the last game I was truly addicted to.

Skyrim is fantastic

I'll be playing a board game in preference to any computer based or online.

My choice is Cosmic Encounter. The game is huge fun and you can start off simple while you learn and make it more and more complicated (=good) as you get better at it. Games can typically last an hour or less. It rewards imagination and backstabbing! You can have multiple winners. Christmas is a social season for many, and Cosmic is great (best) for playing with 4 people, though you can scrape by with 3 or 5.

The Fantasy Flight version - the most recent - is a reasonable introduction to the game. If you get hooked try getting an old Mayfair edition, but avoid the Avalon Hill and online versions.

Left 4 Dead 2 is great any time of year.

If I can get people to play with, 7 Wonders.

Solid game, good sir. Still don't have the hang of it, but I love to try and fail.

Board-game wise, I am planning on Friedrich, Maria, Power Grid, Factory Manager, Catan, Dominion, and St. Petersburg. Computer-game-wise, probably not much. Some of AGEod's games like Rise of Prussia and Wars in America are on the list since I haven't done too much with them yet.

Having played through Warcraft I and II this fall, my nostalgia is sated. It's Battlefield 3 for me.

...WarCraft (that game's seriously difficult!!)...

Pfft, no it's not.

Can you build Summoners? Build only those. Summon demons/elementals. Repeat as needed.

If you can't, build archers, and 1 knight (to kill cats). Leapfrog to victory.

If there's a chokepoint, build a bunch of catapults, and tell them to force fire on it. Send one Knight near their base, and watch as all of the enemies units attempt to destroy it. Lure into death.

I recommend everyone watch the video. :rotfl:

I have no idea, I've been bouncing around a lot lately and can't settle on one game to play. From beta testing a new Paradox game, MEIOU, Civ V, to Napoleon, Shogun 2, Medieval II Total War, I honestly have no idea.

My friend did gift me one of the humble indie packs on steam, so I might give those a go.
