While We Wait: Boredom Strikes Back

I think we should have a party. I'll bring punch.

Party is the best solution.

I know that the amount of pages in that thread is humongous, but it's not like the thread is filled with spam. It's possibly the second-longest thread in the forum (Probably after Welcome New Members). I don't want the NESing community to lose that kind of cred. :p

Still has quite a bit to go before the NES Dev & Idea thread hits 2nd, but 11th is good too!:D

Oh well, at least I felt like we were important. 11th is pretty good, though.

LightFang I once defeated your avatar but then it came back stronger later and it took a few tries to defeat that time.

Balfrog is pretty serious business! ;)

I still haven't managed to beat Hell though. I don't think I ever will. It's too hard.

It has been brought to my attention that the NESing Ideas thread has 277 pages (20 posts per page) and 5,500 posts. It was started by das five years ago today. How should we celebrate?

-- Do nothing
-- Start a new thread
-- Have a party

Das can reboot AFNES.

Furthermore I vote party, bonfire on the beach and pagan rituals to worship the ancestral threads.

Hmm... If all the WWW threads ever were added together, would that be #1?

@LightFang is that the level with all the skeleton monsters? I've never got much past the place where you rescue a puppy.

Dp, I am currently doing that at a reunin with all my old uni mates- fun times indeed! Do you not desire to join the succession game, or does it need to be our own?

Well I was going to look up and calculate all the WWW thread's total combined post count, but from just a quick glance, they all combined easily eclipse 15,000, and maybe even 20,000 posts. SO...I say Bird combines all them all into one thread! The NES forum must take the honor of having the largest thread on the entire CFC forums! Besides, I believe it was suggested before.:)

The old WWW threads are not something the NES forum should be renowned for.

I'm just saying, the NES forum was chaos some time back when BJ wasn't a mod and Turner tried to fix the rageflames that were always present in WWW. I don't think we can ask a mod to merge a set of threads that most mods probably dislike, and especially not try to force it onto BJ, who has done a great job in here keeping a nice balance, and keeping flames out (That's what I think so at least). He's good because he knows us. There's no inherent gain of merging the threads other than how shiny it would be (And it would please me as well), I'm just afraid the mods will think we are an arrogant collection of self-elected überCivFanatics or whatever they thought we were back then - they really felt that we considered ourselves above the rules and unnecessarily important.

What I'm saying is, the thought to ask BJ or any other mod to merge just scares me, with all the problems the earlier threads invoked.

(Also, anyone remember when 85% of all NESers bailed to that custom forum somewhere because of the whole deal? That was an interesting take of action.)

Ah yes, the "Nesing Rebellion" and the "Moderator Empire" were some messages I've read. I enjoyed the good old days.

Back then the WWW is an outragous but intregal part of NESing: Nes flames are taken here and dumped.

Now, the WWW sometimes reminds me of old grandparents talking, tryng to not strain themselves or get attention. Flames or OOC in a NES are more subdued, but there impact lasts longer when the flames didn't get a chance to flare. (Tell me about it)

Although if they do merge them, we would have thousands upon thousands of posts, and that must not be fun to moderate and administrate. (although it might be easier for the fact that all that is now one thead)

Yes, I am greatful to all who supported me through that. I think I deleted that forum.

As for merging the threads, don't. While beej could easily do it at a click of his mouse, an not involve any other mods, it would not be a wise move. Being the largest thread on cfc would gain infamy, an probably be archived as spam.

Wasn't the exodus during that April Fools joke about merging with Apolyton? Or am I confusing it with another exodus?

The thought of the largest thread in the site being in this sub-forum is bewildering, but yes, there's really no good reason to do merge them. Those are perfectly good distinct threads, and we should keep it that way. Besides, if we just keep it up we might eventually reach that legitimately anyway.

Nah, it was one when you weren't exactly active. The snafu started when Turner took over Matrix as our resident mod and preceded to get medieval with us over our trollin' ways. It was somewhat deserved and rather resented. So a fair swag of us jumped to a free forum to protest which seems to have worked because activity here died. I think somewhere along the lines we agreed that we had gone over the line in terms of our trollin' and that the response to this had probably been a bit harsh. So also long as we kept it nice and civil, which we have, we would be left our own devices. A related issue also came to a head at the same time over whether or not WWW could be used for things not related to NESing. The original ruling was that it couldn't, while the follow up gave us an exemption. So we can still discuss how good looking Nutranurse is, without being jumped on for it, provided we again keep it civil and within the norms of established posting.

I'm not sure, I think I do have some faint recollection of Turner's crackdown. I think you people run away too much, making it all blur in my head. :p

Then again, never-ending Internet exodi are rather fitting considering how often people seem to do that in NESes.
