While We Wait: The Next Generation

So I really want to redo my Price of Power NES sometime in the near future; especially since I have been playing with this new way of doing businesses-economies-technologies in my head. Nonetheless, I have to admit a third restart on this NES might be kind of boring for a lot of people, and I don't even know if there would be sufficient interest. To see what people think, I've decided to draw up two new maps. One of them takes us 115 years before the first Price of Power to just before this time line's version of the Seven Years War. The other map takes us 35 years into the future from my original NES with most of the colonies based off the map drawn at the Berlin Conference in that game. Whichever era has the most interest (if any of them) will be the one used. I should also note, all maps (Including the 1865 one should a third restart be decided) are all subject to changes.

1900 Map

I would happily rejoin this in either the 1865 or 1900 forms. I'm unsure about the 1750 at this time but it is likely I would join it as well.

This is a general notice: I am no longer maintaining whatever threads I've created effective immediately. All content linked to on my Google Pages (including the SymNES II Maps & Data that just went up in Completed Maps, the other Completed Maps I host, etc.) will be purged out of my site storage in 14 days. If there's something you want to keep, pick it up in that time.

Do we need to re-host those maps then, start a new thread?

Why are you dropping it?

Also, why kill your NES?

Sym D your game thread has been locked as you requested. is there any explanation you care to give for your ritualistic departure behavior?

Has Dis started his industrial NES already?

He's completed the entire ruleset and is asking for reservations

Other than him completing the entire ruleset and asking for reservations?

Sorry, read Das not Dis.. :tired:

Haha, nice edit. :p

Retroactive deletion.

About maps, can anyone (Symphony D. ? :) ) help me convert a rectangular map to a nice winkel-triple elipsoid one?

I've downloaded GIMP and MathMap, and got some cylindrical mapping stuff working, but its not very pretty. At this point its looking like I have to enter my own code for Winkel Tripel projection.

Thanks for any help :)

For raster data, I think a direct pixel to pixel transformation is your best bet using the WT projection formula, and then do a colour interpolation for the dataless pixels that will be formed. There seem to be a lot of tools available of dubious viability - some google mining might help.

So technically no :p

I've finished the timeline, map, ruleset, and automation and am doing stats, though a heavy weekend has delayed the latter somewhat. All this can be found in the big NES development thread, as well as me asking for reservations ;).

Will look it up. I'll join when you open the thread and take whatever's left as not to mess up the game with my irrational behaviour or ineptitude.

Ah, hmm. I've been looking for some code for this Mathmap thing that I could just cut and paste into the dialogue thing. I don't really know what I'm doing to be honest, with Mathmap or GIMP in general. I'll keep looking.

Does this have anything to do with DNES2 Daft?

Well I've always wondered how the DNES2 map would look with nifty WT projection, but I'm actually working on an alternate-world map for Matt0088's upcoming NES.

-> On the subject of maps, I hope people are making backups of all the maps hosted by Symphony D.! I still have the excuse of my poor connection, although I may dedicate an interenet session to see the full SymNES IIα map :)

Hey, can someone make a good Sea world map with inverted sea/land with logical waterways, good borders, logical climate and rivers, more islands and lakes to make it look less like earth? I tried and I earned a EPIC FAIL at the New Neses thread.

The problem is, it doesn't make sense. The shape of sea versus land is fundamentally different.
