While We Wait: Writer's Block & Other Lame Excuses

Thanks for the praise, tuxedohamm, and to be honest we thought it was going to be a lot worse at first, but we managed to pull out more numbers, more ships, and more damage every time they fought against us it seemed, and while there were stupid mistakes and extremely close calls, it was a lot of fun and we all enjoyed it.

Why did you let your account go dark, if I may ask?

No RL money available, and I wasn't pulling in enough isk to buy any PLEX.

That's a pity friend, and Plex prices have not dropped to be real honest at all, and have actually gone up. I'm assuming that in your industrialistic path you were doing more mining and manufacturing and such?

We were a mixed bag. The corp as a whole was mostly Mining/Industrialists, but we spent some significant time doing missions. My main character was slowly training up to be focused on refining ore and scrap with enough trained up to be useful on mining ops.

But the sometimes erratic decissions being made by the corp leaders meant sometimes we were focusing on WH's, sometimes we rented systems in Null, and sometimes we just spent out time in Hisec.

Most of us were highly casual players that just got along with each other.

Sounds a lot like our own, but we've retreated up to Caldari high for the moment and have been spinning around and doing stuff. Heading back out to null soon though, should be fun.

Not sure where they are now, but we tended to hang out in Gallente and Minmatar space.

Haven't been up that way in a while at all whatsoever. Though may head up there sometime to pick up the new destroyer blueprints that they have seeded onto the markets, should be interesting to see. That and Crimewatch, as well as the changing to a lot of the old cruisers and stuff has made a lot more ships a lot more better than they were before.

Well, if you happen to see anyone from Eclipse Innovations let them know that Ekoran Phobos says hi. (Granted, it looks like they're spending more time in Lowsec now.)

Will carry along word if I ever happen to run into them, who knows? Might run into them when we are doing a caravan to transport stuff and such.

Just to get a quick, general opinion:
What would people think about a NES's stats being presented entire through a wiki? I'm thinking for something more complicated than the average fair, with various solar systems and noble houses to go through. The reason I ask is that I've been trying to find a reasonable way to present the stats for my up-and-coming NES, and being able to search and imbed links seems awfully convenient. Obviously the mod would be the only one capable of changing the actual stats, although stories and descriptions could be on the same page, and thereby be modified by the player.

It would be possible, and indeed for that kind of NES possibly best. However, the onus is on you to keep it updated and it might become a hassle to update stats a page at a time.

You can "Protect" the stats pages so that only you or another administrator/moderator/bureaucrat can change it.

- Damn great if done right.
- Beyond the ability/attention_span of a NESer to do right.

But then again, I'd have said the same about SysNES2's spreadsheets. Best of luck!

So far as I know, no, no one has done one. Not at least in my 2 and a half years here.

I almost regret asking this, but short of Google Image Search, and Wiki Commons, does anyone know of any good historical photo cache websites? Preferably from the years 1914-1945, both military and not?

You might try the Library of Congress.

It would be a very interesting idea to put into a NES, and I would like to see it. Complexity would be more interesting depending on how you do it after all; if it's too complex and the stats are mixed up in each other and are problematic to sort out it might be more difficult.

ImmacuNES is similar, but he kept his stats relatively simple in that NES (compared to others before it) and the only stats are special holdings and population.

You might also want to try linked Excel spreadsheets, maybe on Google Docs. You can have an entire folder in google docs, and simply link the individual stats to the appropriate pages and disallow editing but allow notes, so a player can point out mistakes.

That's not a bad idea, Terrance, I'll need to look into it. Thanks for the feedback, the stats will be done in Wiki or Google Docs format. I just wanted to make sure that it wouldn't alienate anyone. :)
