While We Wait: Writer's Block & Other Lame Excuses

Reminds me so much of IOT. I express support for a merger.

Let's do this.

Fourthed (?) for the merger. The Personal Union of NES-IOT shall be glorious! The Imperio-Nesser Empire shall conquer all the subforums! Insert more pseudo-nationalistic nonsense here!

The union of NES and IOT would be a excellent way to ensure balance.

Once united we can then arrange for a new style of administration that is accountable and set to the purpose of the community as oppose to imposing on the community.

Merge: then we can together create beautiful things and who knows: we might make games that blur the line between IOTs and NESes... if there is a line.

Arya, even if rejected, should have been given an overview of his mistakes and thus a chance to hit the books and prove that HE wants to play. If not, he can understand or decide that this nes is too far above him at this stage and sit out.
It's as if that happened, or something.

stazNES XI has been shut down because the majority rejected being saddled with behavior that was clearly not suited for the game. This is the forceful imposition of minority rights on the majority "or else." We should not be forced to accept somebody or "deal with" their behavior if we do not want to, which is indeed, as I continue to point out, a general organizing principle of this forum's layout.

Instead, our rights are being trampled as punishment for daring to have a certain kind of fun in mind. It's very "my way or the highway" on the part of moderation and frankly resembles nothing so much as a hissy fit thrown by someone who views themselves as a tutting adult, and the forum membership as children in need of a time out.

@angst & terrance, I will not tolerate being painted as some exclusionist elitist. That's never been what I have been about. I also don't want to see the time and effort other people put into something I'm running (which takes a measure of trust on their part, especially with MY reputation) debased or wasted because some individual neser doesn't "get it".

And in a given game, as the "mod" I get to decide who does and does not "Get it". It's not rocket science and I'm not going to have a debate about it. I'll save my eloquence for the senior mods who will inevitably have to clean up the mess, one way or another.

We even have Iggy-Jesus onside, so we know we're in the right here, BJ.

I also want to point out that the historical method of "exclusion," given that this activity has been going on for a decade now, is ganging up on and murdering the offensive party as quickly as possible and making their experience generally miserable such that they quit or learn. In other words: hazing.

Moderation is de facto stating that (relatively) polite exclusion on justifiable grounds is unacceptable but that ritualized hazing is perfectly fine and dandy. Put that in your "family friendly" and "accepting" pipe and smoke it.

Bird, it should be noted that the "hazing" approach wasn't practical in this instance because the nes was being built on a cooperative basis such that a weak link would have made all our collective efforts moot.

Advocating genocide is A-OK, calling someone a moron is flaming.
Being closed-minded is A-OK, calling someone out for ignorance is trolling.
Blacklisting someone is A-OK, explaining why they don't fit in is exclusionism.

Welcome to the Democratic People's Republic of Civilization Fanatics' Center. Enjoy your stay, tovarisch. And remember: BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU.

Can't we have a reasonable NESer or two elevated to be a mod alongside BJ to act as a counterweight, or to act as a helpful sourse of a second opinion for him, in this sort of situation?

As long as we have a NESer modding the forum and not some outsider who butts in because he/she thinks they are entitled to do so.

I'm The Devastator Symphony D. and I'm the Civilization Fanatics Center NES Champion, and YOU'RE NOT! Rules? Well rules were made to be broken, LIKE YOUR NECK COULD BE! I'm callin' down all the moderators and shareholders to the SQUARED CIRCLE for a no-holds barred cage match at Summer Slam 2013! SNAP INTO A SLIM JIM! OH YEAHHH!!! EXPLOOOOSIONNNSSS!!!

Thanks for bringing it up :).

Not did I think you were elitist, merely uncharacteristically blunt. I haven't spoken about other facets of the issue yet, nor will I until after I finish reading that entire thread.

As long as we have a NESer modding the forum and not some outsider who butts in because he/she thinks they are entitled to do so.

Absolutely. Pretty much any actual NESer who happens to be of balanced mind and reasonable intelligence would be better than nothing as a second voice. I mean, Iggy (or possibly NK) would be the obvious one, but there are quite a few other more than ordinarily intelligent and sensible NESers. I can't see how such a thing could be anything but good - even, if not especially, from the forum mods' perspective.

I was uncharacteristically blunt because I uncharacteristically wanted to run a successful NES :p

I also want to point out that the historical method of "exclusion," given that this activity has been going on for a decade now, is ganging up on and murdering the offensive party as quickly as possible and making their experience generally miserable such that they quit or learn. That is similar to a method of exclusion IOTs have to conduct at times. By Taillesskangaru NES and IOT are close indeed... contrary to the cute illogical grudges by Luckymoose towards IOTs.

Anyway: many IOTers are also NES players: two peas in a pod. :mischief:

Anyway: on topic of the moderation crisis the issue must be set to the status of the GM/admin/player relationship. A diplomatic session is in order, one that the players and GMs take part as we are at issue of both the admin and GM powers, on how they both be regulated. This debate will be important for both NES and IOT; especially as IOT's past debate on GMship is ever a note of experience to consider.

If you want to change the system a united NES/IOT front may be required. Together NES and IOT can provide beautiful results.

Of course if you want to liberate yourself from CFC then Beyond the Lampshade is open to new members... or you can always found a NES/IOT forum. Well... it is up to the consideration. How will peace be settled? The sooner we find out the better because this is going to be a important debate on the fate of the forum games of CFC.

I will give my comment on the matter as I embrace JK's, Tail's and Terrance's idea for a union of IOT and NES.

As long as we have a NESer modding the forum and not some outsider who butts in because he/she thinks they are entitled to do so.

You know we of IOT could do with something like that too. At least you have a mod who plays the games.

I hope this will be listened to unlike when it was proposed in IOT.
