Lord_Iggy's Views on What's Wrong with Modern NESes

People are either too constricted in their actions or meta game.

Too many nations.

Obscenely complex rulesets.

Lack of time to mod such a complex NES.

Too much concentration of power.

Terrorists. The way they're handled in many NESes is stupid. They're overly powerful, highly annoying and next to impossible to stop.

*****

However, these are all problems that can be fixed with a good mod. Seriously, if someone could mod a modern althist or anything else modern, I'd join.

OOC: You know, considering there are Brittanian colonies in Gaul and actual nations in Gaul and Iberia that probably wouldn't happen. Plus, they would need a massive barbarian horde coming from Russia sweeping through Prussia anyways ;)

Well at least they will take me down with you. And Rome had territories in such areas which were also conquered along with them ;)

hmm? I completely missed it. Where did you edit it?

Post 2302 was my edited post and I posted a couple more after that. My last post, #2306, was never answered.

Yeah. There's nothing more to discuss, really. You still seem to believe you can make us yield, and we still seem to believe we can make you yield. Time will show who is more delusional.

I never actually expected either of you to yield and Pharaoh refuses to on principle. I think the real question is just how long the war will go on until either Egypt caves or one of you two gets tired and decides to move on to other things balancing out the odds a bit.

BTW, there is a rumor about the palace that Pharaoh is preparing a statement. ;)

Er... Dream on. Andis likes war. And you burned down my capital, and I don't forgive that.

I hope that the battle to come is at least interesting and I hope to make a contribution to the end. But I was snookered last turn, so it might happen again.

Aargh...waiting in suspense for ITNES update...must see before I go home from short school day...;)

Good luck in the coming update my nemisis friend. (haha)

So lets talk about JalNES with the recent events. The League once again has survived against the odds.

Atryria is emerging as a super trading power because of their advantagous location.

Briton's power has sort of increased but I think its influence in Iberia will fade as the Iberian states grow in power.

Prussia (me), is overextended and fighting off almost three turns of invasions and revolts. Just no relief because my army simply cannot defend all the land. My goal is to slowly expand my forces to the point where I can get a hold on what I have then look towards further expansion but slowly.

Rome has finally destroyed Carthage after weakening it in several wars. Carthage has survived the last turn but any continued survival is unlikely.

You know what I find funny about this world. Eastern Europe is developing faster then West. France, Iberia, and Western Germany still remain relatively unclaimed. Now they are about equal right now but because of Atyria I see the east being much stronger then the west for a long time unless someone takes over Orleans.

So what do you guys think?

I'm completely serious when I say I would have been contented with peace if Egypt and Sparta had not attacked me. But they did, and the League must fight.

If I hadn't quit when I did when I got that leg injury, Sparta and Atyria both would be fond memories...or maybe not. :p

Hey, I may be small and unbelievably outnumbered by you, DIE, Nortugal, and whoever else you pulled in, but you won't kill me that easily.

IIRC, Sparta postured a bit and then you declared war on Sparta; that forced Egypt to stand by her secret, defensive treaty with Sparta and attack The League. Part of Egypt's preparation for that attack was to talk peace with the League and hope that you would move troops from Suez to the Sumerian front. That apparently worked very well.

Yes it did, but it did so because Egypt determined that Sumer was a bigger threat to the area. By offering the League a way out of destruction and trying to curtail the growing power of Sumer, Egypt also gave the League the opportunity to betray Egypt. Which she did. Vengeance for the destruction of Tyre took the lead over good sense. There is a lesson in this.

I don't know if that was good sence, I would have eventually destroyed you both no matter what :P League did wisely as it revealed your betrayal in time, and now league will live on as an ally of Sumer.

*snorts*

You'd have to be blind to think that just because I was the one who was brave enough to post a declaration of war that I was the agressor.

And you can stop bragging about how you managed to defeat me, especially as those were some of the most hastily, badly written orders I've ever turned in.

Either way was death. Either I cooperated with you and had to fight against Sparta and Sumer on two fronts, or I cooperated with andis who's strong enough to take care of you and I can fight Sparta on my own. Plus that whole immense anger at Egypt thing.

It worked well because you did not defend the border, that is all.

Egypt's dilemna was not who was aggressive, but who declared war. Since Sparta knew our pact was only good if you attacked, Kal just goaded you until you had had enough.

You hardly had a dilemma. You waged a war of opportunistic aggression, barely justified by the treaties you had signed.

You have already stated previously that you were content with burning down Tyre. Not with stopping my attacks against Sparta. So that justification really doesn't stand.

I don't think that had you sided with Egypt you would have died at all. Sumer would have lost at the walls of Troy and I had another substantial force that would have invaded Sumer proper to ravage the land. Sparta would not have taken you down by themselves, and I would have born the brunt of any Sumerian counter attack.
So we would have had:
League alive + Egypt strong + Sumer greatly weakened = better balanced ME.

Now it's: League alive + Egypt weak/gone + Sumer much stronger = ME is Sumerian and probably most of Egypt too.

We'll have to see though what is left of Egypt after this turn.
