The best would be that some other company takes over the franchise. I wouldn't mind Brian Reynolds or Soren Johnson to take over, however I guess they already created 'their' version of civilization.

Sullla would be my first choice for the team of advisers as I guess he wouldn't agree to be a lead designer. In fact, someone being open to criticism is very important for such a massive game. One of the failures of Civ 5 is the fact that those beta testers either didn't dare to criticize or were not heard.

Sulla is a pretty cool guy but I think CiV proved to us that goodwill and enthusiasm alone can't make you good a game. For that, you also need experience combined with vision.

Brian Reynolds.

We'd get worse than CivRev then.

Announcing for Q4 2011: Civ Farmville Frontier!

I voted Kael, because he would be awesome, and I don't give much for the odds of a previous designer returning.

*sigh* Alas! However for Kael is already suitably employed.

Well if a track record is your requirement then the same people would design games over and over. Besides Shafer HAD a track record, it's not like Firaxis just whisked him away and said go make ciV, he did extensive work on IV first.

And Kael will have a track record by the time civVI is in the works. So I suppose we'll see what he deos at Stardock.

Didn't Brian Reynolds leave development of Civ 3? I think his idea for Civ ended up as Rise of Nations, an RTS game. I don't want an RTS game.

I would like Brian Reynolds to drop all his mobilphone crap/money grabbing and get on with what he was ment to do!!!!!

Well, obviously the person I'd like to see as lead designer is "me". (This is CivFanatics after all, not CivLukeWarmKindOfInterestedBystanders)

Realistically, I think Civ 6 is likely to be very different, as the devices people want to play games on become more diverse.
