Why are all contestants on the Price is Right either old people are college students?

Something I've always wondered. It's especially baffling when you consider that these are the two groups of adults least likely to know what stuff costs: college students can't buy much stuff, and old people are stuck in the time before massive inflation, when everything cost 5 dollars or less. (Ever notice all those old people guessing everything is a dollar?)

If you're a silly European who has no idea what I'm talking about, well... go away.

The show runs in the middle of the day. The only people around to watch are old people, college students and housewives but the housewives are watching Opera or a soap.

Other game shows run in the middle of the day, and have plenty of people aged 30-50.

And I'm assuming you meant to say Oprah, not Opera. ;)

They just want to meet Bruce Forsythe.

maybe they get most excuted about the type of prizes on offer.

This is my thread, I'll do as I please. :p

But I'd think the show caters its prizes to the demographics of the contestants, not vice versa.

The College student's watched it as a kid with there parents who are now old people.
But when these college students reach middle-age or so, they no longer watched the show as a kid? :p

Old people are the only ones who watch the show, and enjoy watching and playing it.

College students need money. I bet the ones who have appeared on that show travel on the game show circuit.

My question is: That show is really still around? I haven't heard of it or seen it in a few years, at least.

Hmm, makes sense.

I saw it on TV a few days ago. (No, I don't regularly watch it.) And I doubt it was a rerun. I wonder if Bob Barker is still alive....

Bruce Forsythe is probably the most British-sounding name I can imagine. Maybe if his first name was 'Basil', that would top it.

I try to watch it everyday, but I do that to mainly make fun of the people and how they have to fake being excited to be on the show. ;)

Old people have nothing better to do; just waiting to die. They watch all sorts of gameshows, but their eroding minds disallow them from going on Jeopardy!, Who Wants to be a Millionaire?, or even Wheel of Fortune.
College students need furniture and appliances. Price is Right is still cheaper than Target. Typically, the college students have good sense get jobs or win scholarships, or at least go on Jeopardy!, which leaves a lot of dumb ones with Price is Right as the only resort.

My mom's coworker was on it, he is in his 30s or 40s.

I read that as "executed" before I realized that you meant "excited."
I wonder if there can be a "most" executed (aside from double, triple, quadruple, etc. executions where multiple methods are used simultaneously, or after you're already dead)?

Who else is around at that time of day?

I'm pretty sure Bob Barker has quietly discovered immortality. He found it somewhere within "The Price is Right" studio.

It is a well-known fact that within "The Price is Right" Studio, Bob Barker discovered a portal to hell wherein he sold his soul to gain an unholy alliance with Satan and Zombie Hitler. This allowed him to never age a day in his life and brainwash all people above the age 60 to watch his show continuously or face nightmarish apocalyptic dreams that would kill the viewer within 3 days. Also one cannot tell but contestants who fail to guess the right price are immediately executed in a gas chamber behind the studio.
