Why bother voting anymore?

I would like to see some citations please. America has been a conservative, center-right nation since its founding.
I'd like to see citation of this claim that the US is a big homogenious conservative far right-wing group. They've never been center right since the days of Bush II. There arent any Moderate Republicans anymore, if they were they're in the center of the entire BS RINO witch hunt eather forcefully kicked out of their party or forced to switch to independent or democratic.

Let me get this right, you are claiming America is not a center-right nation?

Oh dear lord

Technically, he said that the US is center-right, not the republican party. Presumably the Republican party is far-right, and the Democrats are center-left. That would actually a decent assessment. Except for the "Center-right nation" bit.

Anyways, I can't fault Republican attempts to purge their party. I'd love the chance to do something similar to the Democratic party.

I'll give you socially conservative due to America's evangelistic religious heritage. But "centre-right" is WAY too vague of a term to be properly defined.

Any political strategist will tell you that America has always been, and continues to be a conservative, center right nation.

They've never been center right since the days of Bush II.

In fact, the percantage of Americans who identify themsleves as conservative has grown since the Obama was elected.

40%, 21% liberal in 2009
42%. 20% liberal in 2010

Why bother voting anymore? I have a choice between cowardly democrats who appear to have a favorable ideology but go against what they beileve in anyway and republicans who have an ideology that is socially conservative and fiscally disastrous.

The Democrats appear to have a favourable ideology. Overall they don't really have such an ideology, but rather a craven desire to personally get ahead and further their political careers.

But what the heck does "centre-right" mean?

In practical terms it describes someone does who does not appear to be as <snip> right-wing as the right-wing nutjobs of the day - or at the very least, they can say "nuclear" properly

Did you even bother to look at the multiple polls I included? Those numbers should be self explanatory to anyone with a basic knowledge of demographics.

1) Those polls didn't have the term "centre-right" in them; only "liberal", "moderate", and "conservative".
2) You didn't define "centre-right".

You don't define terms using other terms.

I don't know about you but I learned how to analyze pools in high school statistics.

America is known as a center-right nation due to the demographics of its population. A population where twice as many people identify themselves as conservative rather than liberal. A population where those who identify themselves as conservative, outnumber those who identify themselves as moderate. A population where 48% say their views are closer to the Tea Party than Congress

Ah, but "conservative" and "centre-right" are not collectively exhaustive; being one does not necessarily imply being the other (at least IMO). You could've at least stated that you believe they are more-or-less the same thing.

Okay, let's turn this line of questioning around. If you disagree with the term center-right, how would you describe the politics of the American populace? Certainly you would not say moderate or independent after viewing those polls.
