God created humans to rape and pillage anything non-human.

P.S. If anyone says that science is a belief system too and cannot be proven, and then points to scientists that make up theories with little proof, I would like to point out that is NOT true science.
Ahem. I'll go now.
Not exactly. Science can be proven if you accept the basic proposition the the universe, or anything outside of your own mind, exists. Which can't be proven, only believed - so ironically enough, even science is based on an unprovable (And undisprovable) assumption.

Well, we can't say that God benefits from having created humans, since God is putatively complete in and of Himself.

The alternative would be to say "to benefit humans". This leads to the interesting logical statement then that "more humans is better than fewer humans", meaning there's no reason that He hasn't created an infinite number of realities populated with people (since more creation = more benefit). The counterargument to this alternative, though, is plain. It's tough to state that all humans are benefitted from their creation, and requires a disconnect with reality.

I don't think that a good (and logical) reason can be elucidated.
Of course, there's an hypothesis that no God created humans. This hypothesis suffers none of the limitations of the God hypothesis. Other hypotheses can include: hostility, spite, shallowness, etc. the current reality fits the theme of a shallow Creator.
Why can't God benefit from humans existing? Since He is perfect, He can't experience love or joy?

the poll options seem rather funny

why would an omnipotent being need company?

why would he make the universe then wait 13 billion years for humans to show up. then force said humans to live in that universe until they die just so he could transport them to another realm?

wouldn't an omniscient god already know all possible outcomes of any possible event?

what does a god need with a universe? and keep in mind homo sapiens are but a speck in the time of the universe.

Proof? /10 char

isn't faith good enough

That is one of the greatest mysteries of Theology. Our closest guess out of pure speculation is that it is in God's nature to create, and so he made man in his image.

It's God's hobby to create things.

Why can't God benefit from humans existing? Since He is perfect, He can't experience love or joy?

He couldn't if He was perfect before humans existed. If He benefits from humanity, then then (by definition) He's worse off without them. Can something perfect be 'worse off'? No. Yet there was certainly a time when there were no humans.

Ergo, the idea that God benefitted by creating humans is paradoxical.

1) Create universe.
2) Create sentient species with a great capacity for imagination and self-deception.
3) Give this species a sometimes self-contradicting moral code, which claims to be inerrant truth.
4) ?????
5) Profit!

Gather round ye children.

In the beginning, the Universe was created. This has made a lot of people very angry and been widely regarded as a bad move...

HGTG anyone? :mischief:

Regardless as to whether or not "created" was the right term, we are his children, we are a fufillment of joy and sharing that joy with others

so to speak

and that's still a vague and incomplete answer

...but I'm lazy :D
