Why do persians dislike jews?

Its Iranaians not Persians. Get over that historically inccurate atrocity of a movie....

I fully disagree. Well before that movie, and for years, people have been distinguishing the modern Persians from different ethnic groups (most commonly Arabs).

It wasn't until that atrocity of a movie came out that this mewling about "it's Iranian, not Persians" crap started coming out. While the people the Spartans fought are not really the same people who live in Iran now, people in Iran think of themselves as Persian.

... which is half the reason for all the mewling.

That is quite true. The bloodline of modern Persian can consist of European(think of Greeks and many others)and other ethnic groups they have either conquered,assimilated,migrated,etc.etc.

I think for the reason of some Iranian would call themselves Persian so to get a sense of a historico-pathos of a once mighty empire.

That's a word Cartesian Fart like spamming around

You might be a redneck if you look up 1 hard word and use it in every single sentence.

For the record, I have done this with more than 1 word. On the upside, you never forget what that word means again.

They're Medes, dammit! :D

Out of all the peoples that exist todtay, Kurds are best described as the descendents of the Medes, IIRC.

Anyway, Iran is a multiethnic country, and has nothing to do with immigrants - you're talking about ethnicities which have parts of Iran as their homeland. The Persians are by far the major ethnicity, but there are other Iranian peoples there as well. Nothing to do with immigrants, because immigrants are seperated through ethniucity, not nationality. The Iranians are a nationality, not an ethnicity (And it would be ludicrious to do so,m as almost all of the Afghhanis are Iranian peoples as well - same with the Tajiks in Tajikistan)

The demographics of Iran are:

- 51% Persian
- 24% Azeri
- 8% Gilaki and Mazandarani
- 7% Kurds
- 3% Arabs
- 2% Baluchi
- 2% Lurs
- 2% Turmens
- 1% Other

Out of all the groups here, the Persians, Gilaki/Mazandaranis, Kurds, Baluchi, and Lurs (and some other others) are Iranian peoples - making up to ~94% of the population. So it's quite a bit more accurate to say "Iran" in this case. :p Given the context of the question - regarding a political opinion - "Iranian" would be a more accurate term. Doesn't change the fact that the Persians have always dominated Iran, though!

Anyway, when it comes to the real reason, it's quite simple - Israel and the adoption of European antisemetism. It has nothing to do with any historical dislike - there had been a jewish community in Persia since antiquity.

A more interesting question would be to find out how exactly antisemitism developed.

I think for the reason of some Iranian would call themselves Persian so to get a sense of a historico-pathos of a once mighty empire.
No, it's because some Iranians are Persian. THe Persians didn't die out, much like the Greeks didn't die out. To say that the Persians died out is absolute nonsense, as their cultural heritage, including language, has continued. To say that the Persians do not exist anymore is ludicrous just because their religion has changed, because you miht as well say the same thing for the Greeks. And what had identified one as a Greek since the Byzantine Empire was being simply a greek-speaking christian.

Oh, it's just that my persian friends call themselves persians and not iranaians.

That's because they are ethnically persian! There is no such thing as an Iranian ethnicity. It's the same reason why an Kurd who immigrated from Turkey to the US would call themselves a Kurdish-American, not a Turkish-American.

I hereby confess that I've been rambling.

Now, I want to know how many of the more knowledgable members here actually know any Persians. Please tell me if your Persian friends call themselves Persians. Hmmm...

You don't have to answer that Swedishguy.

Well there's a terrorist state called England...:mischief:

There is no state of england. However, yes, the government of Great Britain is responsible for taking part in terrorist acts.

So is Iran. What's your point outside of trolling as usual?
