I was wondering why the Shwedagon Pagoda is not a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Why? It's a beautiful building and a architectural masterpiece and a cultural important site...
There is no UNESCO World Heritage Site in Myanmar, they were considering Bagan.

Enables all Religion Civics
Double Construction Speed with Gold

City more likely to generate Great Prophet
Can only be build on Renaissance and earlier starts

My guess is we already have all the religion civics anyway. And Great Prophets aren't that great in the modern age.

My guess is that not enough people play on Deity for it to be of good use. In all seriousness, I agree that it should be recognized as such.

Maybe they should invade Brazil so they can change religious civics every year?

Myanmar deserves no international recognition.

Having a bad political regime is a very poor argument against recognizing a monument as a UNESCO heritage site. It isn't the regime you are commending after all.

Obviously, it's because nobody but Civ players have heard of it...

In case that reply was directed at me instead of/in addition to contre: I'm not saying that not recognizing a monument because of disliking a political regime is how things ought to be. I'm just saying that that is how the world works. Stating a fact rather than a moral approval.

Though anandus' explanation seems even more simple and likely...

UNESCO had no trouble dealing with the DPRK (1 site), Saudi Arabia (2), GSP Libyan Arab Jamahiriya (5), Zimbabwe (5), Syria (6), Vietnam (7), Iran (13) or the PRC (41).

Anyway, UNESCO has a Eurocentric bias as evident in the WHS list.

I think they have certain regulations like not making changes to the site. Maybe Myanmar doesn't want to follow it.

I have no idea, that's just speculation. Maybe they don't want people telling them what they can and can't do with their historic sites is all.

Have you seen the shape of that thing ?
It's so derivative, they were clearly just ripping off the Eiffel tower.

Somebody is obviously an obsessive wonder spammer. Being interested in preserving them is just an excuse.

Fool, the Eiffel Tower was a ripoff of the Seattle Space Needle.
