Why isn't Phi/Ind in the game?

It's a combo that is broken and overpowered. Start wonderspamming in the capital, you will get GPs twice as fast which you settle and build wonders faster. It's a spiraling effect which creates a monster civilization.

It is similar to Boudica being Agressive/Charismatic or Darius being financial/organized.

The closest thing you can get is Agustus who's UB get's you +25% GP. Build the Parthanon and you are essentially there, but without the huge head starts of the Ind/Phil combo.

Try the Canada mod - apparently that has all three unused combos.

No, it doesn't, I've modded the Canada mod

I don't think ind/phil would be too powerful to be in the game. I mean we have praetorians, Boudica, HC, Darius. In vanilla we had Cathy, the English. I've played ind/phil using my modded Canada mod and while it is good, I don't see it as being ludicrously overpowered. Just give the civ fish/hunt and a late uu and ub to compensate. And not a uu like quechuas

I've never played with Darius. Is he so powerful? Why is financial+organized a so strong combination?

I can't see the harm in having a leader with Ind/Phi just so long as it isn't the only leader for that civ. Might be fun to play the Romans with Hadrian (a good candidate for Ind/Phi but for balance could equally well be Pro/Phi).

I think what's more of an issue, do you want to face an AI that is hogging all the wonders and getting twice as many GPs because of it? Especially if Hadrian ran arround with Prats, Agustus is bad enough.

I wouldn't mind playing against an ind/phil AI. It would mean that on top of shiny wonders, I'd also be picking up a shrine or two when my army comes to town

Financial get's you alot of extra money while Organized let's you keep more of it via cheaper civic upkeep and faster courthouses. They work together to get you more gold allowing a higher science slider and a larger empire.

Fin/Org makes Dairus good, immortals push him to the top of the heap. He blitzes with those, getting tons of early land, then uses those traits to pay for all of it and still run the science slider reasonably high.

Even AI Darius does this, routinely clobbering some poor sap witrh a stack of immortals around 1500 BC.

Apothecary's no slouch in the incredibly sickly BtS industrial and modern ages.

Back on topic, Ind/Phi was originally supposed to be in the game but Firaxis found it too good so they took it out during beta. I too am in the camp that they could balance it by making everything else about the civ crappy, but oh well.

True, he'd be a nasty opponent especially if he started on another continent from you. Maybe not such a fun idea after all .

hehe, well you didn't make that clear, now did you? :nope:

And to think I nearly downloaded a mod so I could play as America's little sister! :pat:

(Alright, alright, enough of the Canada-bashing - I'm sure it's a very important civilisation, which has been at the heart of all of modern history's most important events... :p )

I like Canadians. But I can't recall any of their great philosophers or magnificent wonders though ;)

I agree re: Niagra Falls, I don't think the Canadians built it though ;)

Maybe Geddy Lee counts as a great artist though. Bryan Adams, not so sure.

Okay.. CN Tower... World's tallest freestanding structure and highest public observation tower

At least, until they get that one finished in Dubai

There is my act of patriotism for the day (shamed at the fact that I still haven't played the Canada mod)

Fair enough. I'll raise you stonehenge, globe theatre, oxford uni, scotland yard though ;) And the Beatles of course ;)

What's Canada's UU/UB? Mounties surely!!

(Careful, Paradigm Shifter, we've already lost one North American colony. We don't want to stir up treacherous republican sentiments amongst these guys too. Just humour them)

Well done, good Canadians, your tower is a magnificent achievement - the pinnacle of human endeavour!

(hehe, that should keep them under her majesty's most glorious thumb for another century or so)
