Why no Bashir 2012?

This guy is far more evil than Kony ever was and has an indictment at the ICC for alleged crimes of Genocide. Yet we hear nothing about this guy.

Sudanese President Omar al-Bashir, wanted by the International Criminal Court for war crimes, will attend this week's Arab summit in Baghdad, Iraqi President Jalal Talabani's office said.

"President al-Bashir told President Talabani that he will head his country's delegation to attend the next Arab summit in Baghdad this week," the presidency's website said after a phone call between the two leaders.

Iraq is not a signatory to the ICC's founding Rome Statute, according to a copy of the treaty posted on the UN's website.

The foreign ministry has said on its website that "the protection of President al-Bashir is guaranteed one hundred percent," adding that the same goes for all summit attendees.

The Arab summit is due to be held in Baghdad from Tuesday to Thursday.

It is the first time that the Iraqi capital has hosted a meeting of the 22-member Arab League since now-executed dictator Saddam Hussein's 1990 invasion of Kuwait.

The Hague-based ICC issued an arrest warrant for Bashir in 2009 for alleged crimes against humanity and war crimes committed in Darfur. A later warrant added genocide to the charges.

No, he's not "far more evil" than Bashir. And one reason for targeting Kony more vigorously would be because his situation is much more tenuous than Bashir's. Bashir is the head of a sovereign nation, Kony is the leader of a ravenous band of bandits, murderers, and children.

If anything, because of the Darfur crisis Bashir has received a much greater amount of attention than Kony, or Museveni, or Kagame, or Kabila, or Bemba, or Rwarakabije, or any other colorful character from central Africa the last decade.

Though, to answer the question in the narrowest sense, I suppose it's because there's no American college kids on gap years in the Sudan. No gap year kids means no previously sheltered kids discovering the limits of their country's omnipotence and struggling to cope with their shattered delusions.

when Angie was over here , the streets were cleaned , the pavements rebuilt , TV cameras whirring and all , only because an invasion seemed imminent as Washington was amenable . The reason Hollywood might be off because it seems kinda movie set like to them ?
