Sounds like a mathematical abstraction of sexuality. This Kinsey scale nonsense is a bit too rudimentary. Tentatively I suggest using linear algebra where we model the original notion of a 'Kinsey scale' with a scalar product on gender vectors.

I'm not advocating it at all. The point of the thread was to ask why, since the terms themselves are judgmental, because so were the people who created them.
