Hi all just making a post to see witch one you think is more importantant. Let me state the difference, wisdom is different from being smart, our hero Forest gump proved this by being intune to the world but at the same time being our beloved. Also buddha wasnt known for many scholerly acheivements but his wisdom lives on. And whether your muslim or not, mohhomad (pbuh) wasnt literate and 1.57 people follow him for his wisdom . Then we have people like napoleon who are briliant war tactions and smart but are not wise and we see him losing french land in the end. Any way you can see my bais now

just use the poll and decide witch you would prefer to be

Wisdom is far superior.

He also presumably died of AIDS.

But anyway, wisdom is the clear answer. However, I don't particularly think Forest Gump is a shining example of wisdom.

Wisdom is just an excuse for stupid people to think they have worth.

Being wise is to have experience, being smart is to have intelligence. Ideally, I'd like to have both.

I'd say far more low-self esteem types cling to "smartness" as a measure of their worth than those who claim wisdom.

It's not that intelligence is a measure of worth, merely that those who lack it have none.

I prefer to measure people by character rather than intelligence. Worth is subjective. As for me, give me a cat over some cocky smart ass anyday.

I suspect lower self esteem has some correlation with higher intelligence.
Intelligence doesn't seem very socially valued among children. At least I didn't feel it was for me growing up in the 80's. I recalling wondering whether I'd be happier & fit in better if I was less smart.

I think a lot of the problem is the competitive nature of schools. They don't teach kids to work together but instead to all work on the same problems against each other. So the smart kids are the ones showing up everyone else instead of their allies.

 What the hell do you think cats are?
Cats aren't particularly smart compared to any non-vegetative-state human.

"cocky smartass", not "smart"

Neither does being able to understand gravity.

It gets one a degree in something useful, either intellectually or economically as part of the productive class, and allows one to do something more than be a mouthbreather.

Does wisdom truly exist? Or is it some made up attribute? I question the existence of wisdom. Much of what we call wisdom is just actually intelligence, or in some cases, dumb luck. Prove to me wisdom actually exists. What part of the brain controls it?

The wisest part.

Napoleon didn't lack wisdom, he had it in scores. What he had, though, was more ambition than he could succeed with. There's nothing inherently unwise about that depending on your belief of human purpose and civilization. Mohammad was plenty intelligent--the guy made a self-consistent religion with a massive amount of material, and knew . He was highly educated but not formally. He studied things in person and through experience. The Buddha may have been one over the other, but the nature of his quotes tell us he was a very logical fellow suggesting like the other two, he was both. Forrest Gump would be an example of wisdom without much intelligence that's true.

I think you are including intelligence with with wisdom, and then putting education with smarts.
