Work in progess and Previews

Here is a .pal file (in txt-disguise) from the same image I made the pcx from (the last image of the last preview). Let me know if you'd rather have a palette from another image.
I couldn't figure out how to use it. But maybe I wont need it. This is the result from Jsac's default PAL (1). Compared to the one you sent me earlier (2). Although there may be some heads that will look better with a custom PAL.

I also made this one while I was rendering the other heads on my computer.

Hard to tell without seeing the colormap of the indexed file, but maybe JASC actually generates an optimized palette rather than using a standard? I would say that image No. 1 is better in skin-colors. Does the colormap of Nr.1 have any unused colors - except index 254 and 255 (or 0 and 1 in JASC)?

In GIMP the palettes are stored in a separate folder, but they can be imported from images and files anywhere on the disk (as long as they have a correct file extension, of course) . I would guess there are similar possibilities in other graphics software, but I don't know in detail how other programs handles palettes, I'm afraid. Are you using Paintshop?

Anyways, If you figure out how to import palettes and want me to make a custom .pal for testing later, just shout.

He has a distinctive nose. It shouldn't be so "normal." Also he looks too young. He looked older when in power and even during the Revolution.

Perhaps push his jaw more forward a bit? His forehead should slope back a bit more.

The Aztec and Inca heads look great.

Almost there: now add some weight to his face, straighten his eyebrows, add some hair to his temple, lighten his beard, and remove the widow's peak from his wig; and perhaps soften it: I used a blur tool lightly on it in this example. I also reduced his upper lip just a little. I really hope you don't mind my kibbitzing these ideas to you, but you're soooo close..

Castro: first background looks too sharp, number 2 and 3 are fine.
Washington: from the picture Balhasar has posted, his eyes were closer, his face more oval than round, and as Quinzy said his jaw was more forward. And a broken nose. Nice work anyway, the background is really nice and his costume is amazing. Same for Castro's costume.
Not sure about the Incan LH, something doesn't work... red light under his nose and neck, and the pearls don't cast shadows on his skin.

You can soften the background on #1. Perhaps a 'camp' background for an earlier (1950's) era. I've never been a big advocate for most photo backgrounds because there's too much contrast between the model and the photo. I like the Washington's rooms though. Rooms work well.

Actually, I didn't change his eyes a bit, save to straighten the eyebrows and add shadow. I made the slightest change to the nose, to emphasize the hook, but it shouldn't be all that noticeable. I never moved the jaw forward, only softened the shadows on it. The jawline (and overall shape of the face) only seems to change because of the fattening of his jowls, which are considerable. I found that the single most important changes were to straighten the eyebrows, raise the hairline, and add some hair at his temple. The model looks roman, but GW was British, so I made his skin look smoother overall.
