World Wide Wonder

He has 6 of the qualifying resopurces that is equal to 3 food per city or +1.5 pop. He has 13 cities which will give him 19.5 pop total from Sid's (no rounding done, it will be lower). So unless we gift him mucho Sid resources then he's nowhere near the limit.

I think "Operation Gandhitober Suprise" is our surest way of getting WvO into the position we need. Plus we can bring at least Cathy in for diplo +es. The only problem is Hammy is Friendly towards Gandhi so that'll hit us.

Brian you're up! I believe going after Ghandi seems like the plan, let him vassal to WvO.

So we need to start building up a fleet. After Broadway, Rome can get a couple galleons out before Radio is in. We can trade Lincoln Chem+140+map>Electric which Hammy/Cathy already has, then our coastal cities can build the fleet. Rome will be on wonder duty.

Keep settling the ice islands, we have 3 settlers on a galleon in the south.

I know was going to play last night but I tanked and slept through the whole time, was going to play today except I had Toastmasters, will play tomorrow. Will build up a respectable fleet for Gandhi (apart from breaking the rules and GEing the UN in an iceball gift to WvO, it's the only I can see us being his opponent).

OK I've the game played, will not do a full report (still wrecked), but as it was a builders set there was nothing much happening.

First the bug turnlog for everything I did:

A Triple DP between us Hammy and Cathy, should help with UN votes.

Rome got:

and is well on the way to:

We should go for CR simply to keep out of anarchy, Emancipation especially is beginning to hurt. We should still get it simply due to prod.

Unfrotunately Hammy settled on top of our Uranium spot (just outlaw Nukes, we weren't going to build Nuke plants anyway)
Spoiler :

Madrid is still stuck, but I built a Mandir and am going for Hermy to try and dig it out. Mass garrison has helped too on the revolt chance:
Spoiler :

Suprisingly, despite being stuck at ~7% most of the set it didn't revolt once.

I also performed two counter-espionage missions against Izzy and Hammy as their spies were bugging me.

Thoughts:
I still like "Gandhitober Superise" to get WvO running against us, and other ways are either too impossible or too messy. After Biology I'd go back to Steel and then see what we want after that. We should ban Nukes ASAP (we'll be Sec Gen no bother), and close out the game ASAP. It should not come back to me again. Oh yeah, a roiund of whipping may be advisable.

A round of Whipping, what did you think I was doing??? going on Holiday, I'm surprised there is still happy left to whip away..

its unfortunate, but Hammurabi seems to be No 1 in Population, with us at 2. Gifting Gandhi to WvO seems an excellent strategy, combined with Sids Sushi, we can alway's sell him resources, or trade for excess and on sell them.

Going to be an interesting Juggling act, to keep some friendly, and still plump up WvO.

We have a friendly Lincoln, that's a bonus, Alexander and Cathy would come on board with Hereditary rule.

2nd in GDP running Mercantilism, not a bad effort, would easily be No 1 with Free Market, but that lose of 1 specialist...bit of a bug bear, but if main production is over, why not.

Hope we don't lose out on Christo Redentor.

Actually looking at the F8 screen I can safely say that "We're No.1! We're No.1!" There's about a 10% pop gap between us and Hammy.

I guess since Stoch hasn't checked in for a few days I'll put him in for a skip.

I'll draw up a PPP for our Gandhitober Superise

Needs more boats, I was working on it a bit, but we don't currently have enough strong maratime producers. Army wise we should be good to go with what we can produce. A simple "big clunking fist" one SoD strategy should suffice.

We could get some more diplo by inviting Cathy to the party. She shouldn't interfere too much with our plans.

IHT-
Make trades with Hammy +5gpt>Hits
Trades with WvO +2gpt>Hits
made whips of a couple building, whipped galleon in Rome for 108:hammers: overflow into UN

I'm just going to post major updates

1630ad-
GSpy is born!! Settled

1650ad-
UN built, chairholders are Us & Hammy...vote for us

1665ad-
Created Mining Inc

Have a good fleet ready, need some more frigates though. Stack needs a few more units, hit the :whipped: for that. I think we can take 20 turns now that it's close to the end.

1650ad-
UN built, chairholders are Us & Hammy...vote for us

What way did the votes go (probably the single most important event in the set)? Good turns by the way.

OK looking at the save and doing a bit of number crunching atm.

First were only 69 votes from victory at that count gainst Hammy. WOOHOO!

Looking at the important votes:
US we'll always vote us.
Cathy +9 for us -5 Hammy. She's a solid us.
Alex -1 us +4 Hammy. Probably abstain.
WvO +10 us +4 Hammy. Fairly solid atm, a few more city gifts will seduce him convincingly.
Gandhi -2 us +4 Hammy. Probably vote Hammy, could abstain.

Slight change of plan methinks. Keep Hammy as Opponent, but still take Gandhi. We need a fairly strong Northern defence though if Hammy comes a knockin'. We keep Gandhi's cities, the 4 I mentioned in a previous post (Delhi, Bombay, Varanasi and Palipatura) we keep. we could gift Agra and Hyderabad to WvO if we wanted. The 83 votes should push us over the line.

New plan:
Time war for vote, we want the cities numbers counting in any vote but we don't want starvation (is revolting pop counted?). Get WvO and Cathy online asap. If we have the four cities and the two gifts to WvO in our pockets in the relevant vote we get, at current count, 93 extra votes which will push us over the line, even if Alex switches to Hammy in a diplo win vote.

Would settling some of those other bunk islands and gifting those to WvO help too? Getting our Northern border should be easy now with Cristo in we can switch to Nationhood and draft out a couple rounds of units for that.

IPEX is up, which we haven't heard from him in awhile. I'd like his input also.

Would help with diplo I think due to liberating our cities bonus, won't make much difference to the vote. For my new idea to work the most important thing is to ensure votes from Cathy and WvO while stealing about 70 off Gandhi to push us over the edge.

I think it will be a mite quicker than trying to get WvO into opposition position.
