Probably a mixture. There are some things I wouldn't want to have to repeat, so I would spank occasionally if needed. (and time out wouldn't mean getting sent to his/her room, that's practically a reward).

Of course I would, though I would make sure not to use it too much. I would probably be the last resort after the wife tries to handle the situation, so the gravity of "dad giving a spanking" could sink in and force them to rethink their tomfoolery.

Would it be my only method? Hell no, taking away the videogames/computer/etc is far more effective but spanking has its place for younger kids.

Kids now are horrible little turds and civilization as we know it is going to collapse within a generation or two.

Not at all. Teaching kids discipline is good & necessary. You don't want them to have to fear getting hit in order to be disciplined though.

Did I remotely suggest that? I've never said the solution to every child problem is to whip them across the ass with a belt, but just that you shouldn't completely disrule it as an option.

And kids have tantrums when they're that little, if people like the other couple have their way and have all discipline banned those tantrums will continue through life.
