Writers?

I write songs. Nobody likes them :(

What are they about? Sometimes writers have trouble with audiences that have not felt feelings that the writers have, for example.

I would love to read what some people on here are writing. In return, I may allow you people to read some of my crappy, uninteresting stories!

This is a chapter that explains what happened 50 years before the novel, and gives the reasons for what has been happening the last 20 chapters. The empire described suppresses knowledge of the past, so up until now, they had no idea about any of this happening.

All characters, events, ideas, and occurrences are works of an insane writers mind and not the hand of God, nor are they the prophetic beliefs of the writer. I repeat, this is a work of fiction designed to entertain, not warn, I have no belief that something like this is going to happen.

Also, there might be a few large blank spots as you start reading. Just randomly click on them, and a picture will appear. And one more thing - this is not the final draft of the chapter.

No kidding? Care to elaborate?

Sure. The website launched around 2002, when I was sophomore in high school. I had the good fortune of being one of the very first posters. Sports interested me (they still do), and I was a regular contributor to the website for a year or two. The website became a smashing success, and I was made a moderator.

As traffic grew, we (the staff) talked about how we could expand the offerings of the website, perhaps to actually generate money. We decided that instead of just being a place for people to talk about the news, we had the numbers and the expertise to actually report it. One of the moderators worked for a local radio station, and in a few weeks, it became an actual media outlet. Website contributors started a twice-weekly radio show, and others set out to actually cover the events. They thought i was a pretty good writer, so they made me a junior reporter. I also got to do a few segments on the radio show, which was a blast.

We didn't have the money for our own print newspaper, so we (the reporters) would do write ups, feature them on the website, and then try to get other local papers to print them. I would get 20 bucks for writing an article, and another 10ish to cover expenses (my ticket, gas, maybe a hot dog) if I had to go somewhere live. It was easy work...a write up for a typical basketball game ran around 250 words, and when high school kids find out you're a reporter, they won't stop talking to you, so getting quotes was easy. If I got an article reprinted, they'd pay me some more money. I had two articles that were re-printed in other newspapers, both were editorials about baseball.

It was fun. I got to go see football and basketball games for free, and I'd get enough money to cover my date that weekend. The website has scaled back a little bit now (they can't pay me to cover events anymore), but I had a lot of fun.

@Mise - send me some lyrics! I like your posting style, maybe I'll like them.

OnTopic: I write, but mostly in Bulgarian. And mostly reviews of music or lyrics translations. So count me only for short styleless essays on Bulgarian.

I began work on the story not to long ago but if you would like to read some of the prologue you can go ahead enjoy it.

Anyone who has read Poe's work will probably catch the references (which the prologue itself can really be called, I don't want it to be to similar but unfortuantly it seems to be shaing out that way):

Where in the world is Eran hiding? :hmm:

I try, but I don't think I'm much of a creative writer. I find it very hard to sustain long texts (dialogs tend to become obvious and/or dull); I do much better with short stories, but I am extremely demanding of the quality of the endings, and I generally give up promising premises because I can't find a good way to end the story (and actually, there are very few stories, even among those published by many authors, that I find to have good endings - I give maximum notes to the amazing "the final question" from Isaac Asimov).

Anyway, I know that I'll write a book some day, but as it goes, I think it will probably be technical - these I handle fine.

Regards :).

Most of the professional writing that I have done has been of the creative variety. This has mainly consisted of plays for BBC radio (commissioned and original works, with another original in the pipeline now) and film scripts (mostly short films) with some awards from those that got made, including one from BAFTA. I'm finding that the radio plays are a good way to develop the ideas for feature length films and to practice the craft over the longer format. There is a collection of short stories too, but I've not been touting that around. I've also done a fair bit of journalism before, writing features for The Sunday Times Magazine probably being the pinnacle.

Inspiration is never the problem for me. There is never a dearth of ideas, it's just finding the time and motivation to get them completed.

I know your probably tired of hearing people say this, but have you ever considered NESing?

Sounds like that would consume my soul.

Could be given a shot if I had the large amount of time to commit. I've done something similar once upon an era ago.

And I really should write something else again. I have the time, but even with all this going on, I need the motivation, even if nobody reads it. No use adding to the same exact things that have been said ad nauseum.

Oh I know what you mean. I feel like I have a lot of ideas but putting them down on paper is a whole other thing.
