WW2-Global

All right, I found that graphics pack, and have tried it out. I really like the brighter green, it is jut a livlier color, and makes it much easier to see the terrain under a forest tile. Some of the older graphics I did prefer a little bit, like the old green Heinkels and the old radar stations, but this is fine. :)

Rocoteh, I sent you a PM with a bunch of notes, rather then cluttering up this thread, this is just a note so you can go and check your imbox and don't miss it.

How about a Vichy France and occupied India?
Also maybe focus on how the war starts rather than how the AI plays it out, cuase if we all know the Allies will win, there isn't much point in playing. :crazyeye:

Vichy France would not work with this game-engine.

Yes I saw that.
I think your suggested new stats were good.

You know it's been such a LONG time since I last played the Soviets. They seem really, really weak(which is fine btw). I have noticed a couple things Rocoteh. For one thing, the starting Soviet tank divisions are air transportable, that was not intended, was it? Also the pedia says the Soviets should not get cavalry units, but all their stating units are cavalry and not Soviet cavalry. Soviet cavalry seem like they could be useful here and there with that ignore forest move costs, there are bloody trees everywhere.

It is one giant infrastructure building game so far. I have 200 workers after 47 turns; the Germans still only have four, the same as the Finns. Still so much work to do, I still have like 15 unconnected cities.

I am playing that varient that I mentioned where Persia is neutral and has to be attacked instead of being in the allied camp. I did get frisky with all of my mech and tank units, and have been attacking Persia and Communist China. We split CC with the Japanese, but I got all of Persia. I got greedy and attacked the UK in Iraq, which turned into some interesting times. They ended up attacking me near Murmansk, at Petropavlovsk with some bombardments, and a horde of India infantry and units from Egypt, mostly the little tank brigades, those are wimps. Dangerous wimps if you let them attack though.

That war got messy, since the US sent navy after me in the Pacific too, I lost a lot of ships trying to relieve Petropavlovsk by sea. Couldn't manage it, but they never sent a transport. The U.S. did though, which is about when I went crawling for peace. It worked out though, I ended up with Iraq, and added Arabia too shortly afterwards. There are lots of UK troops running through Persia, I will have to deal with them at some point but I could not handle them now. Around 30-40 divisions worth.

I did better in the North, but the UK did some weird things like attacked Murmansk and the Finnish & Norway-Denmark cities up there with WWI Destroyers mostly I think it was. I saw them kill a Finnish infantry that way! I sank a lot more of their ships then they did of mine, but it ended up as just a naval duel.

I went minimum research to build up money and rush buy a lot of things, so my tech is pitiful. I have nothing but the starting type units, though I have added 2 C2 BBs and around 6 heavy cruisers, not in one area though, they are all over. the Soviets have widely seperated naval squadrons, which makes for some interesting decisions. I will be trying to go heavy research in a few turns to get to the T76s and after that the better air units. I basicly have nothing useful in the air, the russian bombers are a horrible joke and nothing but sheer numbers lets them even do minor damage. I look forward to the day when they can be used strictly for recon as they are quite decent for that. Let's not even mention the "fighters". I scrapped all of the RU-15s straight off.

Speaking of which, I disbanded a ton of submarines early on too, didn't want to pay the upkeep for fleets bottled up in the Baltic and the Black sea. I still have a bunch left though. You can't diband those pitiful Soviet coastal subs. I didn't care for those Coastal flotillas I have in the Pacific at first, and they have problems if they head out to sea, but they did some nice work nonetheless, they do grow on you.

I am behind the Germans in numbers of tanks by half or so, my 20 to their 50 PzIIIe units. They have finished off France, so I am just waiting to see how the AI handles things. If they decide to attack before I get the better tanks it will get....ugly. The only thing that would save me is trading space for time, which seems quite accurate somehow.

Hello Rocoteh! Good to hear from you again!

I remember a game some time ago I was playing as Germany on Sid and I got into a war with Soviet Russia in 1941 I believe, and they had an unbelievable amount of armor... they had multiple stacks of fifty to a hundred tanks attacking across the whole border. That was a crazy battle, and many of my forces got decimated but I was able to sue for peace. The only saving grace there was Germany's superior air force at the time, which was able to help save me from that situation. Ahhh, the fond memories... :)

Somewhere back in this thread I described a game as France where the Russians got T34s before the Germans got their better Panzers...it was a massacre.

All right, what is up with everybody picking on Mother Russia? I swear I have been good, wasn't attacking anyone else, and the Swedes of all people send their tanks up and kill some of my border guards??? A couple turns later half the Greek army shows up near Odessa and attacks my workers on the border! They are both so going to pay, I get T34s in 6 turns, but even now, what were they thinking?

Thank you for the report.

No the Soviet tank divisions should not be air transportable.
It will be corrected in version 2.7.
I will also check out the cavalry issue.

Its positive that Germany-AI have been able to defeat France.
Otherwise my impression from reports during the years is that
Germany-AI seldom can repeat the historical Barbarossa-campaign.
Looking forward to hear how it will play this time.

Thank you.

Yes the air force is often the key to victory on the East Front.

For sure AI often handle the neutrals in a strange way!

Ok, first time poster here. This is the only scenario I play anymore in CIV. I always play as Japan or Germany on the hardest level and set at the most aggressive. The game is fun up until 1943 when it appears I reach the maximum unit capacity(it usually happens end of 1942, beginning of 1943). The other countries stop attacking, and appear to stop caring about their goal of defeating the axis. If i attack them, they barely try to defend. They don't attack me, they just wait for me to take their city. Also, my cities will be set to produce a unit but upon completion nothing is created. Is there a way to increase the unit capacity, otherwise it seems this game gets stale once 1943 comes around.

This sounds like you've reached the unit limit. The only two ways to get past this are to disband your units - or kill your enemies!

jaydh2, welcome at CFC. [party]:band:

Here is an additional information: The unit limit for C3C is 8192 units. So a look on your unit statistics can tell you, how much you contribute yourself to that problem by playing too defensive or may be restarting the game when having own losses.

Hello Rocoteh,

A very belated "good to have you back" wish to you. I'm glad you are feeling better.

You mentioned earlier in this thread about a version 2.7. I have been playing version 2.6 now for 2 months and have also begun a complete overhaul of your excellent scenario. I think your interpretation of WW2 for [c3c] is the best out there to date. That is why I was inspired to work on it.

I plan on completely reworking the tech tree and have the scenario begin in the first era. I've also added more units thanks to the wonderful work of TopGun, Wyrmshadow, Gary Childress, et al to name a few. I've added a few of my own custom sounds and plan on doing even more. This included freshening up the units_32.pcx. I would like to also add flags in place of the generic leaderheads in game now.

When this is done, and I'm not sure when that will be, I want to show it to you first. The reasoning is mostly for your approval and permission. I can tell you that I am serious about this work because I wish to take my Civ gaming experience to the next level and give back to the community in some way. ;)

I am very glad to hear that you like WW2-Global.

Thank you.

Rocoteh -

Wonderful to hear you are back. I have been playing CIV IV which is a challenge. I can win easily at lower levels but not at higher levels. One advantage is the turns move much faster but my computer does not allow me to finish any games on Large maps. I may break down and get a new computer so I don't have to wait too long on Global but I am afraid I have done all there is to do on this scenario. I know what works and what doesn't.

For those of you new to the scenario I have the following advice - Attack the Soviets - early and often! Whether you are Axis or Allies the Soviets eventually become the powerhouse simply because of the number of cities and their enviable position in choosing between war and peace (everyone else is locked in war). Even if you are the U.S. - enter Eurasia vis the Soviet Union because otherwise you will be swallowed even if you conquer the Axis. If you are Germany engage the Soviets as soon as possible. This diverts them from city development and you can swallow a lot of cities before finally finishing off the French. Go East!

Rocoteh - I will check from time to time to see if 2.7 is out.

I got the scenario to load once.... now I go to restart the game and it keeps giving me a load error for Art/units/infantry/infantrydeath.wav. Which I find hysterical since the file IS in the scenario' art/units folder as well as every OTHER art/units folder in the game install folder. I made sure that it was replicated in all the likely search path folders for the game, except those that already had a copy of it.

So this is incredibly frustrating, I wait 10-20 minutes and the dang thing fails on a file that exists, is in the proper places that the game should be searching for it, and it found it once already.

As to the patch issue? As I understand the DMCA you as the legal owner/purchaser of a CD are allowed to burn a backup copy of it; as the game publisher does not allow you to actually do that, they are in violation of the DMCA.

Though no consumer has the wherewithal to push the point in court and with the present administration in the US it is not likely that you will see their DoJ do anything to protect consumers rights.

I came across the same problems.
However it doesn´t look for the infantrydeath.wav file BUT infantrydeath .wav file.
Some type of typing error since the program looks for something with a space between death and the .wav .

I guess most of you blokes have found this and corrected it.
Any sollution on in what ini-file this typing error is made ???

Even the great graphic add-on has the same stuff of problem.

Help me out, since I have been away from the site for a very long time and forgotten if this was a known problem..
