After quite a long time and on a new computer, I've tried again to download and install C2C (Got quite pleased it' still being updated!). Download and install were uneventful; I've never installed any mod on other folder than "(...)/common\Sid Meier's Civilization IV Beyond the Sword\Beyond the Sword\Mods"
And then it never started, but stopped on "XML loading" with a bunch of XML Load Errors popping until a final crash.
Spent the last couple of hours reviewing things on forums about that, including the Steam tutorial stickied here, to no avail. Starting as admin, loading the old beta on Steam, reinstalling mod; nothing worked.
And then tried a last time with a redownloaded mod... only to see a very vapid alert from antivirus, deleting nothing less than CvGameCore.dll from it's folder. Restoring it brought the mod to life.
Then, I've just decided to post this anyway, but as an alert rather than a question, should another unlucky gamer get this error.
