i agree with gozpel no of us are experts (well at least im am cetainly not) and i definatly wont be upset if mistakes are made, and if it does bother people that someone is making mistakes well then the critisizer can leave the game becasue thats not what this is about.

Yeah, we can do a 2 turn warrior/worker thing. Just depends on what we want to do.


I still can't get that darn save to work.

Me an expert? , I will pretend I didn't read that. I can admit I understand some basic stuff, but that's about it.

The save is a mystery, I got the message:

Scenario invalid! Could not open scenario file. The file may be corrupt.
And then something - DataIO operation error: Game.

Have anyone seen this before?


Workers are needed with all that jungle and warriors are a good substitute for the time being, until we can afford to start build them horses. And some people prefer swordsmen before horsemen. I'm happy either way.

Primary goal would be to settle a nice core and with settlers coming fast, it won't take long before we can tell our neighbours that they really are squatters and they have to leave the lands that are rightfully ours

But all this is in the future and it would be nice to see how we pull it off. If it is as Hakon guessed, that Conquest has to do something with the save, then someone has to play from the second save. I want this game to start moving, with or without riots

And if you guys have different ideas of how to proceed, post away.

Oops, forgot a whole lot of stuff.

Those 5 or 6 core cities should build settlers until we are fully expanded, then we should build a barracks in each, and pump horsemen or swordsmen, depending on what people like. The outer cities can just build culture or something.

Indeed, we do need to start this moving. I'm 99% sure that Hakon's save isn't working because of conquests. So until he can get it working, Smellincoffee is up? And he will play from my save?

I think it's pretty stupid that although conquests "includes" PTW, you can't play only PTW by itself.

Hakon: did you play the save using the Conquest exe or the PTW exe? I didn't buy PTW, but used Conquests. I'm in DGT1, a PTW game, and there have been no complaints about my .savs.

To play the sav correctly, just go to INfogames/Civ3/PTW. There's an .exe in there. I put a shortcut to mine on the desktop, making a total of three: Civ3, PTW, and C3C.

I think this might be the problem, so I won't play it in case this is in fact the problem.

Inherited- 2110 BC: Move writing to 50%, breaking even. Quick tech update:

Arabia: up Mysticism.
Persia: dumber than the sod outside my house.
Zululand: slightly dumb. (down Masonry and Wheel)
Carthage: down Pottery, Wheel, and Ceremonial Burial
Greece: same situation as Zululand.

Turn 1- 2070 BC[/i]: Watch our troops teleport around, change some stuff in preferences.

Turn 2-2030 BC: Found ¡Feliz Navidad! where the previous player had a go-to. Next player can change this if he's a mean ol' bah-humbug-speaking scrooge. Barbarians wandering around.

Two turns where I don't remember the dates: er, nothing.

Turn 5?- 1950: We have another warrior/settler pair ready, but where to send them? Decisions, decisions...

Turn 6- 1910: Exploring.

Turn 7- 1870: Found Deck the Halls next to the ocean. Yummy food site.

Turn 8-1830: Found We Three Kings on the river. One of our warriors whacks a Parthian barb. To my relief, the barbarian doesn't sneak in a Parthian shot. (Snicker)

Turn 9- 1790: Exploring.

Turn 10- 1750: Learn Iron Working from the Nubians. Abu will gladly sell Mysticism for IW and 60 gold, next player. Istanbul suprises me and grows to level seven (too busy herding barbarians to keep and eye on that) and riots.

Sorry if I made any really stupid decisions that I'm not seeing now, but I'm sort of sleepy. I wanted to do it tonight because I'm hoping for a new machine tomorrow-- and if so, then I'll get to spend most of the day setting it up.

The save works for me, I just checked it, so Smellingcoffee seem to have the answer to our troubles
