YnAMP - Yet (not) Another Maps Pack

YnAMP - Development thread Civ6

I don't want to speak for Gedemon, as I may be completely incorrect, but it seems like you're asking for features that are not within the scope of his mod. Both of those requests look like two completely separate mods.
Yes and no.

Yes, the base mod shouldn't change anything except map sizes.

But no, thanks to ruleset, as ww2commander had noted first time we spoke of them, those kind of changes could be integrated in the mod, as options.

I had a small "double movement on ocean" mod for civ5 that I'll try to integrate here, and I was using fake buildings in a test mod to accelerate border growth in specific areas.

Would some of the rules parameters work if i just inject them into the Rules.sql file in the slower tech mod?
To have em always on without needing to select a ruleset.
Like this

-- Technologies and Civics cost more
UPDATE Technologies SET Cost = Cost*1.5;
UPDATE Civics SET Cost = Cost*1.5;

-- Civilizations spawn further away (Default 9 tiles)
UPDATE GlobalParameters SET Value = '18' WHERE Name = 'START_DISTANCE_MAJOR_CIVILIZATION';

-- Camps spawn further away from players and 33% fewer (Default 4 tiles)
UPDATE GlobalParameters SET Value = 5 WHERE Name = 'BARBARIAN_CAMP_MINIMUM_DISTANCE_CITY';
UPDATE GlobalParameters SET Value ='2' WHERE Name ='BARBARIAN_CAMP_MAX_PER_MAJOR_CIV';

Yes.

Or in GamePlay.sql in "..\Documents\my games\Sid Meier's Civilization VI\Mods\Yet (not) Another Maps Pack\Gameplay" which is always used.

Not sure if it's a by product of this mod, another mod, or if it's vanilla being dumb. The game I'm currently playing, I just researched to reveal iron and the last 3 games I've played to this point have all had only a couple of instances of iron showing themselves. In this game there is me and two others on our continent and there are 3 bits of iron on it with us. One is within 3 tiles of one of the Civs, one is just outside of my capitol's 3 tile range and the other is far up north in the arctic area.

EDIT: Or, just thinking, is it where I have to go exploring again to try and find iron? This lack of iron really ruins the fun for me as it's just a tad important in the early eras of the game.. especially with the Strategic Industry mod.

Anyone else with MP problems ?

Observation:-

Cliffs of Dover seems to remove resources from around London after been placed, I say this due to changing the Legendary start Global Parameters to include 2 Luxury resources, but 9/10 times London only has 1, the other times it does not have any. (On a random map the change to Legendary start works as intended).

The Giant Earth Map is exactly what I've always wanted for Civ, I love it. However, I do have some concerns about the mod:

- China is a bit OP as it has almost no competition for land and very rarely draws attention from other Civs. Even Japan is separated by the sea, mountainous terrain, and a good distance so you can easily stay safe with just a handful of units. On the other hand, this makes international trade very difficult, if not impossible, until mid game.
- I played a game as China where there wasn't a single city-state until I reached the Arabian Peninsula (which is crazy far away on giant) D:
- The Mediterranean is basically a big clusterfudg.
- Marathon is kinda unplayable when you have to wait 1.5+ minutes after each turn.

Hopefully we don't have to wait too long for more Asian civs.

Anywho, I'm not trying to complain, I was just hoping my feedback could maybe be useful to you in some way (if not no worries). :P

Friend with "Russian" OS couldn't join, always had some message "mod mismatch" ...
He even turned Steam and Civ VI to english settings, which didn't helped !
He said he hasn't any cyrilic chars in any directory name ...
think that is a Firaxis problem !

On the Giant Earth map I would recommend only to play with 1 babarian city per civ , everything else will kill the performance, special when they start to respawn on that snow hexes !
Also increase city distance to 4 instead of 3 ... even 6 would be better, but AI couldn't handle that ... 4 is the maximum AI could handle , with 5 or 6 it builds cities that worse , that the AI is stuck with 2-3 cities , after 300-400 turns (at +125% speed (modded) ... marathon would be 250%)

I tried playing with my brother, we even increased the number of civs to 20 and had no problems at all playing Giant World Map on MP with medium ruleset.
We able to play together just in one case: initially, we choose the one of standard civ6 map and join to each other and after all preparations, the host change game map to the world map and start the game. But unfortunately, we cant to continue game from savegame because we have join button locked out. If your case differs from ours, then could you please provide detailed walkthrough how you did that. Please use greatest world map instead.

Thank you!

Sorry Gedemon if this does not relate to the development of the thread, just want to point out the steps I took to get it running.

When I created the game and before anyone joins, I select the biggest map size available so we can select more civs than usual (I changed a setting to allow more players up to 20), then change it to Giant Earth Map, I select private game and Marathon, or any other settings you prefer. Once you are done, then you invite other players. Make sure to open a slot for them. You invite them either through Steam overlay or through the ingame friend list. Once they are in, I select other civs that the map supports. Hope this helps.

The games we played it was set to be a private game, but it works for public games too, since I forgot to set it once and someone tried to join my game while I was setting the civs and whatnot.
We had one desync once, thats it. We were able to load savegames too.

Well into industrial age in one of games my now, on Giant Earth, marathon. No barbarians. Turn times are still fine, even with all civs having respectable empires. Well... most civs. Or at least some. Anyways, lots of cities, lots of units.

Changing the minimum distance to 4 would be insane. By god, France would have 1 city.

I'm averaging about 90 hours a week playing, which I thought was alot... I can't figure out how some of you guys are getting so many tests in. Maybe I should take it off marathon and try to win.

edit: still alpha3 I should add. Haven't even gotten to 4 or beyond yet.

another edit: just a note on NITER... I let the map generate resources as someone mentioned that niter was scarce if you imported resources... I haven't discovered GP yet, but I can trade for niter if I want. So I can't see it, but its out there.

Also, there is a ton, I mean, a ton, of resources. Maybe the generator just plops them *over* the imported? Cause the whole giant map looks like a legendary start. And I didn't boost my resources at all.

edit 4: in fact, there are so many resources, I'm wondering what the hell 'abundant' would do? where would it find the room to put any more?

Thank you very much for your response. Now I see the difference in our MP usage. In our case we used the game offline and tried to play across our private LAN. By that way we didn't invite each other through steam. We'll check it out as you described(by steam invite) and will let the folks know if we'll encountered some issues.

anybody who wants to add food to white cliffs of dover insert this into YNAMP_gameplay.sql

Hi Gedemon im having an issue with the Giant Earth Map. After researching Mining technology im unable to build mines on ressources like copper , Iron , Stone. Using latest version Alpha 6 no other mods. Love your map btw. I was playing France and tried Germany with same issue.

I'm having the same issue. I'm playing Rome. I could build a diamond mine, but no iron mine.
