YuiNES 2- The Modern World

Hey guys, check this out. NWAG3 sent me diplomacy as if I were Chinaman land.

I just made a mistake- it's not a big deal.

I would prefer is public diplomacy with china be held in this public forum as well as pmed to BananaLee if so inclined.

Given the current situation, I'm not too keen on Bolivia, but thanks :). Again, hoping it isn't taken, cautiously claiming South Africa.

SUBJECT: Affirmation of ANZUS

The United States as always honors its commitments to its allies in full faith, and will not abandon them in times of crisis or need. Given the recent irrationality of the Indonesian government in its negotiations, the United States thereby does fully reaffirm its friendship with Australia.

SUBJECT: Caribbean Unification

The United States has no opinion on the matter of a political union of Caribbean states provided that any such union is the sincere wish of the majority of the people in the territories to come into such a union, as expressed through a democratic process--and provided that it is acknowledged that no such measures will be sought over territories of other nations in the region which are already constituent territories of other such sovereign nations, such as the US and British Virgin Islands.

Australia fully supports the motion of Caribbean unification as long as such a motion is one supported by the people of the affected territories. Australia would also be willing to supply peace keeping forces should such a move cause minority groups to attack the civilians of the various territories affected, but it hopes that unification will take place peacefully should the people of the Caribbean want it.

We would also like to take this time to severe our "monarchial" ties with the United Kingdoms of England. This is only a formality, and we shall remain in the Commonwealth.

ooc by monarchial ties i mean that technically Barbados is a constitutional monarchy under the Queen of England, of course the Queen has actual power, just like she has on actual power in the english government. Meerly a figurehead. As i said, it is just a formalityl, and does NOT lessen our diplomatic relations with the UK.

I'm exactly sure what your saying, as Bananalee pointed out the Queen in Barbados is referred to as the Queen of Barbados, as with the other nations that are in Personal Union, the Monarchy is named after the local institution, not the one over the seas (UK).

if you wish to transition to a republic, that I guess is fine, but I'll be intrested in how the vote etc goes :p

You would also have to apply to stay in the Commonwealth if you became a Republic and the Edinburgh Declaration makes it even more difficult.

I'd like to take Venezuela if it's still open.

apologies, but it is taken. Dominican Republic, an awesome nations in nearly every respect is still open. Also, Starkow South Africa is yours

OOC: Yui, will democracies be able to determine the outcome of elections or will you do this based on dissent level, etc.?

Yes, you may determine the outcome of your own elections, as long as it is reasonably possible your chosen canidate could win.

From: The Dominican Republic
To: Spain

At this point, we are rather interested in preserving our independence, or at least until this Caribbean Union shows genuine merit.
