So here are the rules:

1. Anyone may enter a file, as long as:
-The submitter is the creator of the file.
-The file is completely new, not posted before either on this website, nor on any other. The 3D model for the file does not have to be new, though.
-Files that were the combined effort of more than one artist will need the expressed permission of each artist involved in this thread. If the some of artists haven't been online for more than 6 months their permission is not required, but their contribution needs to be mentioned.
-Converted files and cut 'n paste files are also allowed, but this should be stated.
-The new file must be available for download for the civ community.
Unit makers: Units that are a previously posted unit with changed pallete may join, provided permission is given in this thread from the original creator (unless he hasn't been logged on to CFC for the past 6 months).
Unit makers: Upon submission a single preview file of selected unit animations needs to be provided!
PCX makers: The new PCX must be in the same scale as the standard Fireaxis material, basically the rule is it must work in the game.

2. Only one submission per person per competition will be accepted and only one preview file per submission will be accepted. Once submitted neither the submitted file, nor it's preview can be altered. A submission can be withdrawn though, but not replaced by another file.

3. A sample submission is provided below, only submissions in this format will be considered.

4. By submitting you declare that the submitted file is your own work and that the original artists on these pages (if any) have consented in its submission according to the rules of this competition.

5. A link to the file together with a preview needs to be posted in this thread before the end of the month. After that a jury thread will be launched in which the winner will be decided by a 1 week poll. Any complaints about a submission should be made before this deadline in this thread, complaints after the deadline will not be considered.

6. This is supposed to be a friendly competition.
Please stay friendly to each other at all times...

Sample submission

Artist: Flamand
Name of file: Puddle Jumper
Thread: link to thread/download
Additional Credits: as required

Important: Although i am not changing any of the rules, i do think they should be enforced in their current state. That is if you are entering a conversion you should state so, and give credits to other artists whose work you have used (where applicable; if you do not know who the other artist is then you should just state it is a conversion).

Let's be the first, then! Maybe we can stick the thread this time ?

Artist: Supa
Name of File: The Moon Shield
Thread: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showthread.php?p=11787645#post11787645

Question - Maps and Leaderheads - these are neither units nor PCXs, but rather non-unit flcs and BIQs. Are they eligible here?

Artist: Blue Monkey
File Name: "Tardis" Teleport Button`
Available for download here: http://forums.civfanatics.com/showpost.php?p=11867563&postcount=2

Additional info: The background used is based on the blanks included in a pcx posted by Lord Malbeth. This button is properly indexed to match the buttons pcx. It is posted solo so that others can CnP it directly into their own buttons pcx.

It seems your dl link is not working (invalid link specified was the message i got).
The rule dictates that a file must be ready for use in civ3 so as to be eligible for inclusion in the contest.
I will keep it for the time being, to expect the new link. Might be an even better idea to start an individual thread about this creation, but that is not needed, unlike the dl link with the file in full civ3 palette (does not have to be part of the civ3 button file, but it has to be ready for inclusion there).

Thanks for catching the error. The attachment accidentally got deleted. It is now restored. Checked by downloading it.

I tried to read the OP (rules) very carefully and comply with all of it. The file is posted in a thread about custom buttons. There's no reason to start a separate thread for such a minor graphic. As stated in the post above, the file is ready for use. Including using the same colormap/index as the full buttons file. The simple cut and paste required is sure to be less work than integrating a unit - all those text files. :crazyeye:
