Civilopedia The Tupis:
The Tupis are the most important Brazilian Native Indian race, Jês, Caribs and Arawaks being the other ones. They have many divisions. The Tupi root, for example, is divided between the Guaranís, Tabajaras, Tamoios and dozens of other tribes. The Tupi groups are linked by language, social organization and some cultural links. They inhabited the eastern coast of South America and parts of the interior, having borders with The Jês and other races. They live in small villages and never had a King or Great Leader who promoted their unification. Today, Brazil has 350.000 Native Indians, they continue living in small villages inside the forest (protected by government laws) or in big cities. Before the Portuguese and Europeans conquered theirs land 500 years ago, they were more than 5 million, just on present day Brazilian territory.
Cacique Cunhambebe is the great leader of this Civ in Civilization 3. The cacique is the most import person on Tupi society, they are the leaders of their tribes. Cunhambebe, cacique of the Tamoios, fought against the Portuguese in XVI century, in the biggest Indian rebellion against the abuses of the Europeans in Brazilian lands. He organized his tribe and allies to fight for freedom. This war was in the coast of nowadays São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro states. The Tupis won the starting battles, but, after having signed a peace agreement, they were betrayed by the Colonists and destroyed. Tupinambá, the main village of this group was totally destroyed, as well as the little and allied ones. This village was the most important settlement in Tupi history, its power is compared with the most powerful cities of The Aztecs and Incas. After this episode, Tupis survivors fled to the interior, where they were enslaved or married with the Europeans to promote the occupation of the colony. Cunhambebe died of a strong flu after the wars, he gathered many Tupi Tribes for a short time, as a Great Leader.
Tupis have the bonuses Agricultural (they survive by agriculture, fishing and hunting) and Militaristic (the war is a holy tradition of their culture). In spite of the peaceful way of life, Tupis are warriors and are concerned with the art of war. In Vanilla and PTW versions, Tupis are considerate Militaristic and Religious.

Civilopedia, Tamoios (UU):
The unique unit of this Civ is Tamoios, it replace standard archer and has 03 moves by turn, instead of 01 and cost 10 shields more. The Tamoio warriors know their territory better then the Portuguese, so they can move faster and surprise enemies. They use archers, blades and small canoes that move quickly in the rivers. Portugal used powder arms against Cunhambebe forces and was defeated in starting battles, demonstrating the power of Tamoio warrior.

Yeah.. the green feathers look like plastic... but other than that: Great work!!!!

Thanks for the tips fellows!!! I hae to change the "native helmet" (in Brazil we can it Cocar, I don't know the word in English), but it is hard find good cocar freebies to Poser software, if u find one, do not forget to tell me!!!

Thanks for enjoying the creations and do no forget t check my other leaders, use the links of my signature.

It looks just like a North American Native American headress to me, except it's green. I suggest looking for "headress" in the Poser freebies. In English "cocar" probably means "headress".

I almost forgot.. fantastic job! :goodjob:

Can't you add a texture to the headress, Civarmy?

To do this I must find a free new texture to the used object, I never find one yet, but if I found, I'll use :D Other option is I produce the own texture, I never did that before, but I can try.

Im using this in the scenario im making, could use some help with locations of a few settlements, can anyone tell me where 3 or 4 settlements of this civilization were located? Proximity to present day cities will do, if i can find them on the atlas. Thanks!

For North American tribe locations, PM the user Mobilize, he is a Cherokee and knows all about these tribes. For Tupi location, PM Straczynski, his last post in Tupi treat is 4 posts above, he was helping me with suggestions of Tupi units and knows a lot of about them. Since he is studying out of his city, he is posting few messages, I don't know if he got a Internet connection in his new city.
The Tupi main tribe is called Tupinambá, it lies next of Santos city, in a city of northern coast of São Paulo state called Ubatuba. I'm sure u will not find Ubatuba in the main maps, but Santos (the Straczynski home) you will find. Yperoig is the name of a close tribe of Tupinambá, also Guayacuru.

Madeira, just the cities in green are tribes of Tupi root, the other are cities of Brazil. Stracks, I think he wanna knows where the settlement were, as Tupinambá and Yperog, not the place of the tribes, as Tamoio. The Tamoio main ones lied in São Paulo and Rio de Janeiro coast, Yperog was in today Ubatuba, Stracks, maybe u know where these Tamoio settlement were.

Thanks Straczynski! Unfortunately you were two days late :P I finished placing all the cities in my scenario friday night, but i'll keep your map around. I'll show you a screenshot of the tupi cities in case I made some big mistake.
