Sounds maker ?

It was a question I asked with my last release but it went unnoticed. Does anyone enjoy making sounds around here ? I'm usually full of good will when it comes to adding sounds to my units but after hours of posing, hours of rendering and one hour of compiling the palette, the flcs, etc, I don't find the energy to do any sounds.

I usually don't make human units so no easy borrowing from Firaxis units!

Would anyone be tempted to make their own sounds for Monster units such as Godzilla or King Kong ? I'm interested in this kind of collaboration and I'll happily add any sounds to future or past releases. If needed, I can direct people to websites with appropriate cries.
 
I can always help out with this - I have my own collection of similar sites too! :) I've never made unit sounds before, so if you don't mind walking me through it and pointing me the way I can help out.

Of course I welcome outside help as well :)
 
Gojira54 > Glad to have an expert on board! :D Making sounds is quite simple. I use Audacity. With it, you can easily compose a sound from multiple sources, make it repeat, fade in and out, etc. Final sound must be in mono 22050 hz. In Audacity, you can set it in the lower bar "Project". You can also modify your source sound but it'll change the speed pitch of it. To save it: File > Export to Wav. It's the sound GIMP.

I'm sure there are a few subtleties I'm not aware of, but that's the basic !

Almost all my units are up for grabs. The Apatosaurus and the Brachiosaurus only have 1 sound: a stomping wav for the Run animation. The Kongs have only a few sounds, coming from previous versions, such as "Oh no, it wasn't the airplane, it was beauty
that killed the beast" for King's death, a song for Mega's fidget, thunder for Super's fortify.. Frankenstein's Monsters only have 2 sounds for all of them.

Really, pick something you want to work with. Just P.M. before so I can tell you if there is something else planned for it or not

I hadn't seen this thread. I've been listening quickly to some of them (first link), and they are very "low-fi"... in some of them you can even hear some background music :crazyeye: If I can find any better sound, I may try to convert them into unit sounds.
 
I might prefer to have multiple sound options. Modzilla scenarios will vary from fairly dark and serious to light and outright goofy. Low-fi sounds with background music will have their place :)

Not discouraging anything new at all - I love multiple options and will try to find ways to incorporate them all - just don't want to lose what we do already have...
