Nice piece of Soviet and Ukrainian culture, and just a funny cartoon, with English subtitles. Don't try to translate songs though, they are in Ukrainian!

"я счастлив", "я рад", "я обрадовался" (become glad) sounds better here.
"я счастливый" sounds like you are describing your existential state.

Я надеюсь, [что научиться] говорить на этом языке лучше.

Two correct variants here:
"Я надеюсь научиться", or
"Я надеюсь, что научусь"

You can also write
"Я надеюсь, что смогу научиться" (will manage to learn)

In general, the phrase looks good enough and easy to understand.
