14th of June Patchnotes

i'd rather just go back to the previous patch

maybe a bad patch was released so that we would buy g&k

Perhaps if they did what they were supposed to do on release, we wouldn't have what we have today...I still have bugs from almost 2 years ago

Well i have a 2 core and when i disable it the program is working better.. not the best but at least it is playable....

Could we try to get some consensus about the effects of core-duo verse quad-duo CPU's on speed and responsiveness post-patch?

Is EnableGameCoreThreading = 0 providing the same performance that core-duo computers had prior to the patch? That is an important question because some of us still have computers/laptops that are spec'd for how Civ5 was when we bought it, not to what it has become now. That means there may even be core-duo computers running Civ5 out there on Vista still.

The last thing we want is an even slower game. I realise that GnK might have a different spec to Civ5, but Civ5 should have identical spec's to it's release date.

Cheers
Thanks

What on Earth did this patch do to gold revenue? Maybe it is just me, but suddenly even the really simply levels (prince and lower) have become more challenging than they used to be. It did something to happiness too. I was playing Rome, militaristic with 15 happiness and +40 gold. Updated the patch and came back on, with -6 happiness and +12 gold.

What's the deal with that?

..

Dude that makes no sense. Who would be encouraged to spend more if they had a bad experience?

No warning and apparently insufficient testing was poor marketing, not a self-crippling conspiracy.

I've reinstalled it once after the new patch came out.

I don't use mods, I've even deleted my whole My Games folder (since I don't have anything precious in there).

I've validated at least 10-30 times, every time It usually said "found a wrong file".. if I don't start the game after validating, it says "All files are verified", but after I start the game the game will crash.

I've cleaned out my ClientBlob file and it still crashed :(

TheKingOfBigOz I am very sorry to hear that. No one has any answers? Did you uninstall and reinstall steam? I have had some problems with ETW before and steam install was the issue in that case. Not sure if steam itself could be an issue, but sometimes files get corrupted.

I'm reinstalling the Civ 5 game after completely removing it from my disk.. nobody seems to have a defeniite or working solution!

I do have a hunch... and if it works I'll be fuming!

Endturnlength is set at 10 in the config.ini file. Does this means it hangs for up to 10 seconds before ending its turn? Can this be changed to speed up the turn length after you click 'next turn'?

Is there any setting in the config file to ensure the screen scripts are tagged to the unit animation or speeding up the animation?

once you do that, try a restart on the machine. I've actually heard about some people having the issues go away once they did that after the changes.

Did that by default when uninstalling my AVG.... still crashes...

I'm going to try a final thing and re-install my whole Steam...... not that I ahve any hopes that it will work... but it's at least something.

If the longer turn times meant better AI calculations I wouldn't complain,
But unfortunately my problem is the game won't even launch. :(

I don't know about the gold, but they fixed the bug where Courthouses removed the base unhappiness from the city. So you should expect 3 more unhappy for each Courthouse.

switching off enablegamecore worked wonders. Its still slow, but NOT that slow as before.

Also, I noticed that more often than usual, the AI will give you everything and the house if only to stave off their extinction, EVEN if they had given you in a previous war, but it has to happen after 10 turns.

And they will mass DOW if you are close to winning Dom. All of them.

Alas, courthouse buggyride was fixed, and thus my Dom win had to be delayed quite a bit.:(

Funnily enough, the AI responsible for giving me huge lumps of gold TWICE was a well known coward (according to the Sagas anyway).

It isn't working at all for me. I had the same problem with the happiness in the toilet for my loaded game and my units wouldn't move.

Okay, so it's a broken game. I guess I'll start over. I wasn't that happy with it anyway.

I started a new game to find that my units won't take orders now either. I can't settle a city, move my warrior or end my turn.

Also, the scrolling doesn't work with the arrow keys. Only clicking on the mini map.

JaGarLo,

Just have to know,

your picture of that amazingly emotional SETTLER, from WHERE/ WHICH GAME OF CIVILIZATION IS IT FROM? Almost got a tear on my eye when i saw it!

Wooo Whoooo !!!! I went n tried this out and My game is now playable again !!! Awesome.. Everything moved and functioned like it should... Cant believe change'n that one number made the game from unplayable to playable. Crazy lol...

Thanks a million !!!!

If i I am to make these changes:

1. Open up your config.ini (My Documents/My Games/Sid Meier's Civilization V/)
2. Look for the following line: EnableGameCoreThreading = 1
3. Change it to: EnableGameCoreThreading = 0

Would I have to change it back once i get the expansion?

I'm pretty sure the expansion would change it back on its own. Then just go back in and re-edit it, unless the expansion brings back by some miracle the changes that the patch made. I highly doubt that though. The patch just seemed to make things worse for many people, not better

Have you tried changing EnableCoreGameThreading to 0 in your config.ini file?

Hi there. So I did the ''EnableCoreGameThreading = 0'' thing and now I don't have lag. :)

However, there are still things to be adressed:

- You can't hear the city sounds.

- There is a problem on city range attack: you don't see the death animations of the unit who is being attacked.

- Etc.

But they fixed things, like:

- Your music doesn't change every time you talk to a civ (unless you start a war). THANKS!! :D

- They put medieval and modern advisors. Please note that the modern advisors only appear in the Modern and Future era.

- Etc.
