2012-2013 NCAA Basketball Thread

If you and your wife named a kid LaQuinton, that'd be... something. I like our odds on a final four appearance. Actually, I like our odds on a championship appearance.

2 of My final four are out. I knew this year was going to be tough to predict, but I did not think I would do this badly. I have only got 470 points so far and only have a chance of getting 440 more points. There is a chance I could not get any more points.

Marquette out of TOs, SU in the bonus and up 15 with under 5 to play - SU is looking pretty good for the Final Four! :goodjob:

It's a shame FGCU didn't hold up in the second half. However, I'm now supporting Florida to win it all .

An 8 seed, I think.

George Mason made it to the final four as an 11 seed though.

I'M going to name one of MY kids Fred Van Fleet.

I completely forgot about VCU's run! Sweet jesus, did I not watch any college bball that year? Georgetown-Purdue-Florida State-Kansas is a pretty great run.

How weird is that injury? What could possibly cause a compound fracture of the lower leg by merely jumping? I can only think there must have been a previous fracture.

I don't know. I hope he recovers and finds another way to make his living, because that is one of the most gruesome injuries I've ever seen. Glad I didn't see it live.

So did VCU.

LSU also made it as an 11 in 1986. A 9 has never made it, until WSU, whom I am actually happy for. The Buckeyes will be in contention, baring injuries, for the next 2 seasons at least. This was a flawed team, and I can't be upset with an elite 8 finish.

Also holy jesus was that injury horrible.

Do I have to root for Michigan now? It's been a while since MSU's championship. But on the other hand....

So mad about OSU. that was honestly some of the worst basketball i've ever seen. like pac 12 basketball level of bad.

It was just a compound fracture. Not only do people usually completely recover from them, they can typically do whatever athletic activity they please.

It was a refreshing change that they didn't pull yet another win out of thin air at the last minute.

Theismann and Prothro didn't, but those are just the first two compound fractures that spring to my mind. I'm sure there are examples of players who have recovered and other examples of players who haven't . . .

EDIT: Michael Bush! He recovered from a compound fracture and came back to play . . .

Theismann had a comminuted fracture which is much more serious and difficult to completely repair. I believe Prothro was supposed to recover but for some reason didn't sufficiently to keep playing. AFAIK most people do recover completely from compound fractures of the tibia and fibula.
