2019 NFL Regular Season Thread

It took the Chiefs a full quarter to realize the game had started, but they're certainly working to make up for lost time.

Spotting the opponent 24 points just makes it interesting for their fans. Gotta give'em their money's worth.

Texans defense isn't really all that, but KC gives the impression that it really doesn't matter. Liable to blow up for a fifty burger any time, any where, and nothing you can do about it.

The Ravens also had an electrifying offense this season and the Titans made short work of it. This should make for an interesting game.

Then they're stupid as hell... this isn't the first time these Chiefs have dropped fifty-burgers on opponents.

I remember a couple, but I think they were on the road. They also might have been six TDs plus field goals. Today was definitely special...TDs on seven straight possessions. That will take the fight out of any opponent.

I was hoping they'd lose to the Bills so Bill O'Brien would get fired and save Deshaun Watson from him. Making the divisional round might have saved him but I'm hopeful that dumbass fake punt and ensuing meltdown will get him axed.

Five winning records and four division championships in six seasons. I see absolutely no chance of the Texans firing Bill O'Brien.

I think in just about any NFL city outside of New England winning your division more than half the time will be seen as a pretty good job.I doubt there are many HCs who can claim that for their careers.

His handling of the Clowney situation was awful, but to be fair he is supposed to be a head coach, not a GM.

He's got a ton of talent to work with, though.

The "QB guru" has a fantastic QB that he started Tom Savage over (the "not starting the rookie immediately" thing doesn't excuse him, either, since he started Watson after half a game). He's got one of if not the best WR in the game along with another great one. He's got a real left tackle. He had one of the best defensive ends in football until he, as the de facto GM who is going to remain the GM next year, traded him away for a half-eaten hot dog.

His playcalling and in-game decision making has been questionable his entire tenure - I've read innumerable gripes from Texans fans about the former in particular - and they just keep pooping the bed in the playoffs. Last year's loss to the Colts was just flat out embarrassing. They weren't ready to play against the Bills and survived by virtue of the Bills being the Bills. And then there's today. There's no shame to losing to Patrick Mahomes; there is shame in giving up 7 unanswered touchdowns in under 20 game minutes.

"Got bested by Andy Reid" is only grounds for firing the guy if there's an Andy Reid available to replace him...and there's not. Sure, they have talent, but nobody seriously considered them to be a match for the Chiefs, and they weren't. So it goes.

Yeah, but the Titans pouring it on early the day before raised some people's expectations when they got up early.

Honestly I think the Titans have had a good team for some now but they were being held back by Mariota.

Well, some people's. Other people knew the Ravens style all season was "jump on them early" and that there were questions about their ability to come back if they ever got behind. The Chiefs, on the other hand, were familiar with the "no problem, we'll just drop a four touchdown second quarter on them" approach to winning. They had done pretty much the exact same thing they did yesterday before.

Yeah, you're probably right but I bet there were a lot of nervous people in KC when they were down at the beginning. The crowd there had the wind taken out of their sales. It was one of the biggest comebacks I've ever seen in the playoffs. And the worst thing was my main thought was we traded up to get Trubisky. *SIGH*

Well, it was in a way the biggest comeback anyone has ever seen in the playoffs. Down by 20 and win by 20 was a first. But the thing is that even though the crowd was fretting I never got the sense that the team was, or that the Texans had any sort of comfort level. These are the Chiefs, there are still three quarters to play, there is absolutely no reason to think that 24 points is gonna be enough...that's what O'Brien was thinking when he called for the fake punt, and he was right to be thinking that.

While it was the biggest swing in the playoffs I still consider the cheatriots comeback in the SB the biggest, since it was the SB.
