So . . . I guess that guy who supposedly predicted all the civs and their colors before the information was realeased . . . who said that the final civ would be the Zulus and their color would be green . . . was wrong again.

Very pleased that we are getting Sweden instead of another African civ, even though Brazil sounded good. Nice job Firaxis!

My Guess at how the UA will work:

Boost in relationship/influence towards any civ and its allied CS:es every time that
that civ expands a GS (Myabe also GE and GA).

Gold/happines/culture bonus everytime you expand a GS youself.

Maybe would that civ also receive some gold (The Nobel prize is more than a million euro = 10 gold in civ? :))

So if Russia gets Isaac Newton and uses him to Bulb Flight, would Sweden give him the Nobekprize and Russia would change from Hostile to Neutral towards Sweden and Sweden woulkd gain 20 influence towards Helsinki and Lisabon - Russias two allies.

Could this be how it would work?

Lets hope for some African civs as DLC and in the next expansion!

The next expansion (should we get one of course) will obviously have a theme. Many suspect that theme will be modernized, so you would expect civs to reflect that.

Not that that automatically means Brazil and Canada are making the cut, but I can't see them sticking only medieval or colonial civs in it. Nor do I imagine we will be getting eight more DLCs.

I think immediate DLC's:

1. Portugal
2. Zulu
3. Indonesia

Expansion civs
1. Kongo
2. Poland
3. Sumer
4. Italy
5. Hungary
6. Hittite
7. Assyria
8. Morocco/Berber
9. Tibet

I think we will see a modern WW2 scenario and a completed ancient phase scenario/game.

I don't think we will EVER see the likes of modern states like Brazil, because that opens up a whole can of worms. Where is Mexico, Argentina, Australia, Canada? At some point, you have to realize it is a history game and those civs will never be a focus for this franchise.

Time for Zambezi, or should we wait until we know more?
Yes lets continue the work, atleas the work on Kongo and Kilwa (Swahili), but maybe not the Zulus because the will probably come as a DLC quite soon. It would be fun to start to work on the Tuareg as well.

Great Zimbabwe/Mutapa is a bit trickier since it is hard find a good leader, portrait, and any UU, I can only come with UB like Great wall of zimabwe or some kind of stoneworks, which amybe isn't super fun.

It would also be intrsting to try to make some small scenarios togher with the civs.

So let's start modding!

Now that Sewden is in, I want Denmark in the Religious War scenerio. There is no fun playing as either Denmark or Sweden in a historical scenario of this time period if you can't beat up on the other.

Base on my preferences or likely to buy:

1. Portugal - Probably
2. Zulu - No way
3. Indonesia - Not sure, similar to Polynesia being a Pacific islands nation?

Expansion civs
1. Kongo - No way
2. Poland - Maybe
3. Sumer - Probably not
4. Italy - No, Romans are good enough
5. Hungary - No
6. Hittite - Maybe
7. Assyria - Probably not
8. Morocco/Berber - Maybe
9. Tibet - Absolutely

Clearly someone is not a big fan of Africa. :mischief: The only two civs to earn the "No way" rating are the black African ones. Coincidence? I can understand not wanting the Zulu because they were not that significant historically or have that long of a history, but to say "no way" to the Kongo is pretty ridiculous.

How come Spain is added but not Denmark as bonus civ for expansion? o.o Was there Denmark around when this holy war thing started?

The Danes weren't quite the power player during the 30 Years War as some of the other civs. In addition, the Danish leader is horribly out of place. To be honest, the fact that Denmark wasn't being included was my first clue that the scenario was going to be more Renaissance focused than Medieval focused (this was before they announced the title as "Into the Renaissance"). Absence of Denmark also made me think the Swedes were a plausible choice for the final Civ.

My guess is the Danes will be a City-State in this period. In fact, I suspect a ton of city-states in that area.

I do like the inspired choice of Songhai and Ethiopia, just not the tribal civs.

An interesting theme for the next expansion could be "Into the Future" or some such. Add a new more robust future era, and the civs included could be those that are looking likely to take on an increasingly significant global role in the future. It would be a bit of a departure for the series, but I'd be into it.

Brazil, Argentina, South Africa, Indonesia come to mind.

Here's my would buy:

1. Portugal - Definately
2. Zulu - Definately
3. Indonesia - Definately
