To Quebec
From New England

This situation can easily be resolved by Quebec rejoining the Imperial Protectorate. Your ridiculous and selfish actions have severely damaged your country and your economy. We would think that all the help that New England has given you, and the blood of our sons and brothers that has been shed to allow your country to be free, would be appreciated, but that is apparently not the case. Our embargo will continue until you see the error of your ways and do what is best for your people by rejoining the Protectorate.

This is pure tyranny and will not be accepted. Yes, Quebec once was a member of your protectorate and still appreciates the sacrifices the people of New England have made, but contradicting interests aroused between our two nations. As a free and independent country, Quebec has a right to leave the protectorate when we feel uncomfortable with your actions -without New England threatening or damaging our economy. Think about this, what message are you sending to your other protectorates?

No we will not rejoin your protectorate and Quebec expects her friend to halt the ridiculous embargo, or drastic measures will be taken.

OOC: Nice final update for 2.1, and congrats to the award winners!

Sweden is a constitutional monarchy with a strong emphasis on constitutional. The king (or queen) has the power to veto any bill s/he finds not to be in his/her liking, whether it is currently in congress or passed congress and is awaiting acceptance by the PM. If there is a tie in either House, the monarch posses the tie-breaker vote.

Executive Branch: A prime minister is elected by popular vote from all citizens, both European and those living elsewhere throughout the empire. The prime minister is the defacto commander in chief and has the power to veto bills passed by Congress.

Legislature: A bicameral congress, each province, colony, etc. is allowed a set number of representatives to the House of Commons based upon population, and each region receives two representatives to the House of Lords regardless of population. New laws are proposed to the houses and must pass both houses with a majority vote, and then be sent on to the Prime Minister to be OK'd.

Judicial: These are the courts of the lands. The supreme court is composed of 5 members who serve 20 year terms. The monarch appoints one judge, the Prime Minister appoints two, and the final two are voted in by popular vote across the empire. They have the authority to decide if a law is constitutionally legal, and pass judgment on court cases.

As for Sweden's political parties, I'm going to keep it simple and in English for the ease of who ever is writing it out. Here they are:

Listist Party: Conservatives, facist, radical, just as the name would suggest. Not illegal (No political parties in Sweden are illegal). Since the beginning of France's entrance into the World Wars, popularity with this party has dropped, with no major offices being held by a Listist Party member.

Unity Party: As the name suggest, this is a conservative party pushing for Sweden to unify the Scandinavian world. Not all that popular, but there are the occasional Unity Party members in any given town. None hold any major governmental position.

Swedish National Party: The premier conservative party in Sweden. Just right of center, similar to the Republicans in nowadays OTL United States.

Swedish Democratic Party:
Just left of center, the most popular liberal party, similar to the Democrats in nowadays in OTL United States.

Socialist Party: The second most popular liberal political party in Sweden, more popular than the Unity Party, as they own a small minority of congressional seats. They are not communists, support a free market, etc. but have strong socialist ideals.

Swedish Worker's Party: This is the communist party of Sweden, they have one or two seats in congress but do not have much pull outside of those two seats. They call for the dissassembly of the Empire and the abolition of the monarchy, as well as setting up a worker's paradise in Sweden.

Anarchist Party: Seemingly an oxymoron, the Anarchist party is just that, calling for the abolition of any government in Sweden and the establishment of an anarchistic state. They have even less support than then Listists.

EDIT: Also, EQ, could you PM me about that project I started work on last orders with how much it'll cost me and such? I don't see it on my stats.

Congrats to everyone for all of their contributions to this NES.

I'll try to sort out some Métis politics and provide an explanation for whatever is going to rise out of the war-ravaged husk of the Old Syndicate.

Thanks for the awards and to everyone that voted me "best player" especially. Also, Manchuria made a nice birthday present for me.

Congratulations to everyone else. I really think we all deserve to collectively get an award for keeping this going and keep it so interesting!

I vote Luckymoose best villain, best tormentor and most likely to disturb world peace.

That's nothing compared to what New England will do under President Palpatine...

Anonymoose I have some problems with that. While I understand the sultanate is over so there's a new political system, the socialists won the last election. There's no way the fundamentalists would have so much power. Anyways they wouldn't be called fundamentalists, they would the left over of the Clerical Party which was a political coalition of some Islamic cleric who never had much sway given the Caliph was still around. While now would be an opportunity for them to grab power, the new government, and people, obviously is secular being socialist and would oppose such maneuverings.

Turkey gov'ment layout.
Executive Branch: The Prime minister, who is elected by the people every six years, and cannot serve more than one term. He holds veto power and has total control over the workings of the executive branch, so far as those workings do not interfere with the workings of the legislative or judicial branches.
The Legislative Branch: The Turkish Parliament. Two representatives from each of the 80 provinces. Lawbs passed in this fashion require a 2/3 majority.
The Judicial branch is composed of provincial courts, then the eight district courts, then the supreme court, which consists of three judges that have the final say in the lawfulness of laws passed. They are also the highest appelate court in the land.
The parties are few, as the democracy is young, but they are as follows:
Nationalist Movement Party: Turkish nationalist party who seeks to create a Turkish Empire and end the ruse of the "Ottomanism" once and for all.
Worker's Party: Socialists who want to turn the current Ottoman Empire into a worker's paradise. Will not seek to bring Kurdistan back into the Empire. [far left]
Muslim Brotherhood: Islamists who feel the power of the clerics and Islamic courts should be increased.
