Belgium would like to have included, bombing, urban combat and assassination of Princesses added to the Olympics.

Denmark would like to remind Belgium that the Olympic Games are supposed to be an apolytical, peaceful event in which the hates for certain people, despite their procedence or ideas, should not play any role, and where any conflict should be solved through diplomacy, not through bullets.

We also believe that the Georgians would agree, if we put in an event titled 'shooting at people who enter your border and don't get the likely results of such an action'. Everything can be sorted by bullets, diplomacy happens only after you've used sufficient bullets to drive home your point.

OOC: You appear to be suffering the delusion that Masada isn't serious.

THE WORLD UNITED IN SPORT. Athens, Greece. At the instigation of civil Greek and Danish leaders, the world’s first International Olympics have been held in the city of Athens. The prime minister of Denmark made a stirring speech calling for peace and civility to be had between nations, as seen by members of belligerent nations who competed in sporting events. Some have attributed this to the change in heart seen with the cease-fire in Britain. Many hope that the Olympics are a sparkling sign of events to come, for a future without war.

ALBANY PLEBISCITE HELD. Albany, Republic of New England. The long awaited vote on unification with the Republic of New England was held this year in Albany and had startling results. Despite initial polls which argued for independence, the people of Albany appeared to have voted for unification with their allies to the east. The campaign was brutal and marked by violence and disturbances, caused by both anti- and pro-union activists. Upon the announcement of the success of the plebiscite and impending unification, New York City broke out into massive riots, causing fires damaging the city severely. An underground New Yorker nationalist movement, calling themselves the New York Yankees, has pledged to continue extreme resistance. They punctuated their threats with several bombings of government buildings in Albany during the period of occupation by New Englander military forces. (-2 Stability for Republic of New England)

PENNSYLVANIA ELECTIONS. Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The Socialist Party has had a once more overwhelming victory in this year’s Pennsylvanian Congressional and Presidential elections. The success of the economic recovery by the Socialist Party and improved relations with Pennsylvania’s neighbors has heightened the popularity of the party even further. The Socialists have pledged to continue the nation’s economic growth and to secure it a primary place within the economic standing the United Nation-States of America. (+3 Stability)

TEXAS ELECTIONS. Houston, Texan Republic. A dramatic upset took place in this year’s elections in Texas, with the removal of the long reigning Conservative Party from power. The Liberal Party has won the Presidency, though Congress has become divided in a four-way lock between Socialists, conservatives, moderates, and liberals. The Liberal Party has vowed to minimize Texas’ losses in the Georgian war, playing off last year’s devastating blow to the navy. The Liberal Party has promised to their constituency that they will end the war at the soonest moment possible, assuring the security of the members of the Gulf Alliance. The hard fought elections have had an obviously destabilizing influence on the country, and has worked to polarize members of the various political parties. (-2 Stability)

GULF WAR. Savannah, Georgia. Fighting escalated in Georgia this year as the French Imperialists intervened on behalf of the Georgian government. The French Imperial Navy, combined with Georgian submarine raiders, managed to smash the Gulf Alliance’s attempts at establishing a blockade on the east coast, bringing a dreadnought to protect Savannah harbor. The Gulf fleets were forced away to return to ports further south. The French army has entered into combat alongside the Georgians, though their efficiency has been dramatically reduced as internal issues cause trouble within the ranks as civil war erupts at home. On the land, the Georgians managed to defeat the Gulf salient from Florida in the south, pushing back slightly into Floridian territory. They have managed to place St. Augustine under threat of siege and attack, and the Floridian government has withdrawn south. Louisianans, supported by Cuban and Texan troops, made a major offensive into southern Georgia, reeling back the enemy army through sheer force of numbers in a single penetrative assault. The major industrial center of Montgomery has fallen to the Gulf Alliance advance, inflicting a major obvious defeat upon Georgia. The Georgians have rallied in the east, once more holding back the offensive, with French support as well as massive superiority in artillery fire and support. The lines have once more solidified into a coherent front.
Casualty List
Georgia: 47 Infantry Brigades, 4 Artillery Brigades, 2 Tank Brigades, 2 Armored Car Brigades, 3 Submarines
Imperialist France: 7 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades, 4 Destroyers, 2 Light Cruisers
Louisiana: 31 Infantry Brigades, 3 Cavalry Brigades, 9 Artillery Brigades, 2 Submarines, 2 Destroyers, 1 Heavy Cruiser
Cuba: 19 Infantry Brigades, 3 Artillery Brigades

CIVIL WAR AND REBELLION ERUPTS IN TENNESSEE. Nashville, Kingdom of Tennessee. A full scale slave uprising was launched this year in Tennessee, taking advantage of the confusion caused by the war to the south as well as the recent nationalization of slaves. Inspired by Marxist ideals, a small group of Negro leaders have rallied the masses through an underground network throughout southern Tennessee. Taking the whites by surprise, they overwhelmed a significant number of Tennessee border defenses from the rear, capturing arms and slaughtering the soldiers. The communist negroes have proclaimed the People’s Republic of the Tennessee, rallying in the agricultural regions of the country. This has understandably sent the white population into a panic, fleeing towards the Mississippi River or Nashville. The Ku Klux Klan has rallied military forces as well as numerous militias along the Mississippi, attacking Negro positions and the black population in general. Numerous atrocities have been reported on all sides as the government struggles to retain order. Some of the fighting has spilled over into both Virginia and Georgia, and Klannists in both countries have assembled low level militias to maintain order along the border, particularly with both nations’ militaries otherwise occupied. The chaos on the Mississippi has had a very negative effect on local trade, as freight is severely hindered, sending wrecks and damages all the way down to New Orleans. (-1 EP for Virginia, Algonquin, Louisiana)

SIOUX IN CIVIL WAR. Geronimo, Lakota Sioux. As elsewhere in the world, conflicts between socialists and the standing government have erupted into civil war in Lakota Sioux territory. Most of the eastern part of the nation has fallen to the new Commune of the Lakota People. The king has declared full martial law and mobilized the military in response to the growing threat of the communists and socialists. The conflict has erupted in the military as well which has found itself divided in the wake of the outbreak of full scale civil war.

UNSA THREAT ANALYSIS. Toronto, Canada. A two year study has been completed by various sociological and political science leaders from the United Nation-States of America. They published the Analysis of Threats to the Security of North America, a document discussing international threats to the security of the nations of the UNSA. Debated within it were the socialists of western North America and South America, as well as various colonial powers. The socialists and communists were dismissed in this document as a legitimate threat, believed to be too unstable to ever pose a true threat to the east. The Gulf Alliance, while denounced by some, is seen to still be a better stabilizing influence in North America than that of the Georgians. The top threat acknowledged by the UNSA researchers was definitively proclaimed to be the German Empire and their puppets within the North Sea Alliance. Researchers claim that the massive naval build-ups by the German and Swedish Empires are most likely to be turned against the sovereignty and independence of the UNSA.

PROBLEMS IN LOUISIANA. New Orleans, Empire of Louisiana. Anti-war protests continued to escalate this year, sparking the declaration of martial law in New Orleans and the arrest of several leaders of the Louisianan Socialist Party. The Socialist Party has been broken up and declared illegal by the government, removing their rights as a political organization.

Central/South American News Report

PARAGUAY ELECTIONS. Asuncion, Paraguay. This year’s elections in Paraguay have seen a small change in voter’s choices for government. The reigning Conservative Party have lost control of Congress and the Presidency. The Moderate Party is now the primary party in control of Paraguay. The new government has pledged to maintain a balance between the demands of rightists and leftists, hoping to maintain friendly relations with all of Paraguay’s neighbors.

VENEZUELA ELECTIONS. Caracas, Venezuela. A tide of anti-New Englander sentiment has swept across Venezuela in this year’s elections. The Socialist Party, preaching a policy of Venezuelan independence and friendship with the Socialist Union of South America, has managed to win an overwhelming electoral victory. The Socialists have announced immediately the Venezuelan withdrawal from the New England Protectorate. The President has been quoted as saying, “From this day forth, Venezuela will determine its own place and route in the world.” (-1 Stability)

European News Report

RUSSIAN FEDERATION ELECTIONS. St. Petersburg, Russian Imperial Federation. This year’s elections once more saw the domination of the Federalist Party over all other contenders in Russia. Playing off their success in reforming the government structure, the Federalists have managed a major victory in maintaining control of over 70% of the Duma. The Federalists have promised to maintain their position of international isolationism, keeping Russian soldiers within the bounds of the Russian Imperial Protectorate. This seems particular important to many Russians, particularly as the situation begins to deteriorate in the Balkans in the wake of the fighting in Transylvania. (+1 Stability)

SOCIALISTS SEIZE FULL POWER IN BELGIUM. Brussels, Belgium. As the French Civil War escalates, the Belgian Socialist Party has seized full control of the apparatus of government. They have pledged full military and economic support for the growing socialist state in France. They have promised not to rest until socialism has been brought to the French nation. (+4 Stability)

CIVIL WAR IN FRANCE. Paris, France. Tensions between the various factions of France have erupted into a full scale civil war. The Imperialist government has been opposed from both the left and the right, and these groups have rallied elements of the standing army to support them. In the northern part of France, the communists have banded together to gain control, securing most of the northern coast of the country along the English Channel. They have been quickly backed by the Belgian socialists, who have pledged full support for the revolution. Marseilles has also become a hotbed of resistance, joining Petain’s Lisist movement, pledging a new government around the charisma of this ruler. The colonies have so far been neutral in the ongoing conflict, keeping things as “business as usual” as possible. Mutinies and dissidents within the colonies have been kept easily maintained, under martial law or direct colonial government.

CEASE FIRE IN BRITAIN. Edinburgh, Celtic Union. The noises of heated fighting has at last become silent in the most devastated city in Europe, Edinburgh. The forces of the Celtic Union and Germany and England have signed a cease fire in the hopes of soon achieving a lasting peace. Though no solid terms have been made yet, the Celtic Union is said to have offered a peace at prewar borders, with no major reparations or damages to be paid by either side. It seems obvious to most foreign observers that years of stalemate have finally brought a reluctant peace to these powers.

TRANSYLVANIAN CRISIS. Blaj, Transylvania. Inspired by protests of the Transylvanian people, the government of the Russian Imperial Federation launched an invasion of the Balkan country this year. The Transylvanians put up a token but fierce resistance at the Royal Palace of Blaj, holding back the Russian army for several days. After the fighting, the king was overthrown, having fallen back in exile to Bulgaria. Under Russian guidance a new Transylvanian republic has been established. The first elections are marked for next year to be followed up every four years. This move has been met with much resistance in the Russian Imperial Protectorate. The kings of Bulgaria and Moldavia have met and issued a declaration opposing this directly, threatening violence should a similar effort be made to institute change in their nations.
Casualty List
Transylvania: 12 Infantry Brigades
Russia: 8 Infantry Brigades

NEW DEFENSIVE PACT SIGNED. Lisbon, Portugal. The governments of Portugal and the Celtic Union, in an effort to seal a friendship which has existed since the 1840s Potato Famine, have signed a defensive agreement. Both nations have pledged to come to the other’s aid in times of conflict or war should they fall under attack. The government of Portugal has used this in hopes of encouraging a speedy peace agreement between the Celts and England.

African/Middle Eastern News Report

TROUBLE IN ARAB FEDERATION. Riyadh, Arab Federation. Even as the war for independence continues against the Ottoman Empire, the Arab Federation has had disputes about how their nation should shape itself in the years after the war. The radical Saud family attempted to seize power with their allies and personal forces, only to be quickly and ruthlessly crushed by an alliance of the various other Arab political factions. The members of the House of Saud have been scattered or executed for their treason in the face of the war against the Ottomans. (-3 Infantry Brigades, -2 Cavalry Brigades)

RIOTS IN MOROCCO. Rabat, Morocco. Violent anti-German riots erupted this year in Morocco, destroying several German owned businesses within the country. German businessmen were attacked by mobs, and badly injured by the rabble. Demonstrators have demanded a revitalization of Moroccan independence against the German Empire.

TURMOIL IN PERSIA CONTINUES. Tehran, Persia. Heavy fighting at last erupted in Persia this year between the various factions. The Persian republic government deployed strong military forces against the renegade warlord of Hormogzan, winning several minor localized successes. Smaller skirmishes were fought against the Baluch nationalists, who managed to hold back advances made by the government into their territory. In the western part of the country, the warlord of Arabistan has been ruthlessly crushed by Virginian forces, who overwhelmed and outmaneuvered the Persian forces. The province was secured after a heated battle, and what few Persians remained fled and joined the forces in Hormogzan after a rapid march overland.
Casualty List
Baluchestan: 2 Infantry Brigades
Hormogzan: 8 Infantry Brigades, 2 Artillery Brigades
Arabistan: Destroyed
Virginia: 4 Infantry Brigades, 1 Artillery Brigade
Persia: 12 Infantry Brigades, 4 Artillery Brigades

SUEZ WAR. Ankara, Ottoman Empire. Ottoman forces managed to win two major victories against coalition forces this year after brutal fighting. In the east, after easily crushing a brief and misfired rebellion by the Kurdish separatists, Ottoman forces managed to overrun Virginian positions with nearly five times the numbers of soldiers. The Virginian army, using their superiority in the air to spot Ottoman advances managed to retreat in good order, inflicting heavy casualties in their flight back into their Persian bases. To the west, the coalition was bloodily halted in an advance into Turkey, being caught under extensive enemy fire and devastated. Ottoman artillery supremacy and the awaited arrival of the Free Egyptian Army surprised the coalition and even managed to force them south after heavy fighting and casualties.
Casualty List
Ottoman Empire: 202 Infantry Brigades, 28 Artillery Brigades
Egypt: 23 Infantry Brigades
Netherlands: 30 Infantry Brigades
Virginia: 56 Infantry Brigades, 2 Cavalry Brigades, 9 Artillery Brigades, 4 Tank Brigades

Asian/Pacific News Report

TROUBLE IN PARADISE. Honolulu, Hawaii. Several anti-Swedish riots broke out in Honolulu this year, sparked primarily by Mexican socialists. Swedish military forces were brought in to restore order, and civilian casualties are estimated somewhere below a hundred. With the display of force by the Swedes, most of the civilians returned home, though lingering dissent remains.

WAR IN CHINA CONTINUES. Lanzhou, Republic of China. Both the republican army and the Koreans launched massive offensives this year as the war seems to escalate beyond even previous proportions. Anti-Korean Chinese guerillas have begun to strike behind Korean lines, particularly as new military railroads and infrastructure interrupt the life many peasants are used to. The strengthening of the Western blockade has also taken a major toll, see the below article for more information on that. The Koreans were the first to launch an offensive this year into southern China, easily overwhelming the much smaller Chinese force, and pushing deep into the former warlord state of Yunnan. Despite this major victory for the Koreans, taking some of the economic heart of the republic, as well as cutting the route for most foreign aid, they have suffered two military setbacks. The Chinese won a major victory over the Imperial Chinese after luring them into a trap in the mountains. The imperials were routed once again, and the republicans have once more begun pushing upon Zhengzhou. The first artillery shells have even begun landing on the imperial capital, and many believe the city will soon fall. Regular Korean forces were overwhelmed on the Yangtze River, as waves of Chinese soldiers poured over their defensive positions. Reinforcements were hastily brought up from the south, eventually halting the advance.
Casualty List
Republican China: 110 Infantry Brigades, 8 Cavalry Brigades, 11 Artillery Brigades
Imperial China: 49 Infantry Brigades, 2 Cavalry Brigades
Korean Empire: 38 Infantry Brigades, 14 Cavalry Brigades, 8 Artillery Brigades

THE UNDECLARED WAR. Shanghai, Swedish Empire. Prior to 1912, the Western blockade of China against Korean trade remained mostly ineffectual. This year and last year marked a dramatic change in this situation. A massive influx of Swedish and New Englander ships as well as the introduction of zeppelin patrols to look for shipping has changed everything. The use of zeppelins allows for spotting of the coal-powered Korean transports from many miles away. The Westerners have therefore been able to mark and destroy or capture nearly 70% of all transports attempting to make it to China. Light Korean warships have also been destroyed by the far more powerful Swedish and New Englander ships, though the exchange has gone both ways throughout the year. Attempts to begin production on the continent has been met with internal sabotage as well as guerilla raids, minimizing the effectiveness of production on the mainland.
Casualty List
Korean Empire: 8 Destroyers, 3 Light Cruisers
New England: 4 Destroyers, 1 Light Cruiser
Swedish Empire: 1 Light Cruiser

Just discovered I missed removing Texan ships from the big ole naval battle last year, the stats have been adjusted, meaning most of their fleet is gone. In fact, looking back, I forgot to have that in the last update. By the time this is read, that will be adjusted.

Because of the massive proliferation and the rise of automotive industry in several powers, cheap automobiles have been removed as a tech for research.

@germanicus12: zeppelin squadrons (the ones available) require Zeppelin Militarization. However, scouting is possible with the initial tech.

It is apparent that the Lord does not desire such good Christian people like yourselves to break the treaty that you signed. Take this civil war as a hint and obey God's commands and leave Georgia at once. I shudder to think what could happen if you choose to ignore God's warning.

We were shocked to see Tennessee erupt into rebellion, when our diplomats went through we noticed very little dissent. Perhaps if you still follow the slavery laws, you should abolish it and focus your efforts against the Klu Klux Klan. Deseret will work by Tennessee to ensure that the freedom of black people is protected and will even assist in constructing schools and local clinics for them.

To the people of all colors in Tennessee
From Deseret

Our borders are open to refugees of the rebellion, we ask that you stay in designated stations and wait calmly until the rebellion is over and the Tennessee government can welcome you back to a land in peace. I ensure that the people will have the best medical care available, a constant supply of food and plenty of things to keep them entertained and well taken care of during their stay in Deseret.

Due to recent developments in the Russian Imperial Protectorate, specifically the overthrow of the Transylvanian monarchy, the nations of Serbia, Bulgaria, and Moldavia have decided to withdraw from the Protectorate in fear of suffering the same fate as Transylvania and forming a new alliance: the Balkan League. In the Balkan League, we will not have any powers trying to stick their noses in our governments and trying to change it. All are equal, whether they are the strongest country in the world or a medium-sized power. We hope the world shall recognize this new alliance and open its arms to the world.

You have done much to aid your ally, but they seek to use your men as the tools for their foreign policy and use your blood to pave the way for their inevitable defeat. There will be no loss of honor in making peace with the Ottoman Empire, you have fought well for your cause.

Consul Clemenceau gazed out upon the city, the sprawling urbs of Paris. In the distance he could hear the guns of France booming, not seven years after he thought he'd never have to hear it again. This time, however, he knew that with every powerful, earth-shaking boom, lives were lost - perhaps dozens. Out there, he knew, his countrymen killed one another - and a great many of them wanted him dead, too.

The courtyard was abandoned. Usually it would be teeming activity, but, the Congress saw very little of that recently. Much of the Congress went home in anticipation of the rebellion, and some stayed behind, knowing they'd be lynched if they went home. Even if any congressmen were around, however, they couldn't be in the courtyard as freely as they once could. The guards, ever vigilant, wouldn't let them. There was still too much risk.

Anarchist bombings had occurred throughout the city as the year went on, and though these rebels claimed to not be involved, it was all connected. Even groups as different as the Lisists and the Socialists were connected. Connected in their hate of the present government.

Clemenceau clenched his fist. For too long his party built up the nation - to have it destroyed by these radical malcontents! It was almost too much to bear. Turning away from the skyline in disgust, he stalked back into his office. He still had much work to do.

---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---

Jean Léon Jaurès was standing on the docks, gazing out upon the five ships which pledged allegiance to the Socialist cause. He was beaming. Now the revolution was at hand! He knew his righteous cause would triumph in the end. Though this was a small start, it symbolized something greater. Workers everywhere, long oppressed, would finally cast of the Imperialist yoke and establish the Union of Bourbon Socialist Republics. Slowly, his dream was coming true. He stroked his goatee - no mustache on his face, that was a symbol of the capitalists - as he thought about how now the cause was gaining much more momentum than it ever had.

His aide ran up to him. "Comrade messr. Jaurès," panted the aide, "The messengers are ready. Shall we dispatch the communiqué?"

"Yes, that will do. Make sure to emphasize the worldwide part of the revolution."

"Oui, comrade messr."

The aide ran off again. Jaurès breathed a heavy sigh. Still, the dogs outgunned him in every way, even those criminal reactionaries from Marseilles. He could only hope his fellow Socialists, and Belgium, were enough to take down the world's most entrenched empire.

---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---*---

"Philippe Pétain! Ol' buddy ol' pal, how you been? Still starting a revolution?"

The aging Marshal turned as his good friend Rousseau came up to him. Smiling, he offered his old comrade-in-arms a tall glass of sparkling wine.

"Italian white," announced the Marshal proudly, and Rousseau nodded with approval as he sat down at the table with the glass in hand.

A hundred miles away from the war front, the Marshal lived in relative comfort in this secluded villa in the south of France. Northeast of Marseilles on the slopes of the alps, the vista was stunning and far to the south was visible the Mediterranean Sea - an image marred only by the ominous presence of imperialist warships -, and on it, the bustling city of Marseilles.

Ah, Marseilles. Once just another proud French city, now doubly so because it was pioneering a brave, new world for France. Ever since Pétain wrote the lisist papers, a series of treatises on what the nationalists were doing right and what their goals he figured should be, he was ushered to the top of the power pyramid. Once a lowly corporal, he now commanded the entire armies of the lisist cause. Oh, the irony! He would relish in bringing the hammer down on those fools in Paris who had dared cross the military.

"You know, Pétain, some have said that you're going too far," mused Rousseau, "And that this will all fall apart once the imperials in Paris get their act together."

The Marshal snorted. "Unlikely. They sent their two best generals abroad. Now that they're sipping tea in India and the Congo, they aren't exactly wanting to come back and fight for the people who kicked them out in the first place."

"Well, true, but who still commands most of the French industry? Not to mention the forty some-odd artillery brigades?"

Rousseau had a point. Pétain hadn't realized the full extent of the fierceness of French guns until they were turned on him...

Pétain shook his head. It mattered not. The institution was weak and corrupt, and French strength was no longer guaranteed by it. Only through strong leadership and strong state would honor be restored - no more of this relying on the colonials which got them into so much trouble before.

"I also hear the Imperials are getting in trouble with the Americans, again," Rousseau went on, "They sent troops to Georgia."

"True, they did." Pétain grudgingly admitted it was one thing they got right. That damned Treaty of Rome foiled France at every corner. No matter, though, for in the lisist papers he very specifically outlined the procedure the lisists would follow with regards to it. They would grind it into the dust.

"So what's your plan?" Rousseau finished, suddenly serious. Pétain met his eyes, and he could only grin.

"To win, of course.

@EQ I am switching to the Commune of the Lakota People. I want to be on the winning side of this war.

From: Fighting Bear (Representative of Commune of the Lakota People)
To: Our Neighbors

We know some of you may be concerned by our success. We wish to reassure you that this a matter between the Lakota people. We are going to restore equality and resurrect our traditions that were lost were when the French Puppet King was installed. We have no desire push our beliefs beyond the lands of the Lakota people, nor have we sought for support for our cause. This revolution is a natural evolution in the beliefs of the Lakota people.

To: All of The Lakota People
From: Fighting Bear (Representative of Commune of the Lakota People)

The time for victory is upon us. Soon the puppet King and his officials will be no more. We will restore the Sioux to their traditional ways with a modern twist. All citizens will live in communes where everything including land is owned by the members of the commune. The commune can be equated to our ancient tribal society where all members of the tribe worked together and supported each other

No more oppression by men who stole your lands and hoarded your wealth. No more will you have to watch these men drive cars while you walk to work, no more will these men send their kids to New England schools, while you are denied education, no more will these men live in fancy homes while your family is crammed into a one room shack. You will finally have enough to eat, receive a proper education, access to doctors at no cost and most importantly you will receive the rewards of your labor. You are correct to assume this will be paradise.

But victory has not been completely achieved; the King is in control of almost half the country. Our brothers in the east are fighting to liberate their oppressed brothers. However, we need our brothers under control of the King to rise up and fight their oppressors. Seize the land, the factories, banks and everything else that is rightfully yours. Form your own communes; support your local Socialists and our advancing armies. The more support from you, the quicker we can liberate you and end this war.

From the Congress of Communes of the Lakota People
To: Our Brothers and Sisters

Directive 1: All private property is hereby seized by the Congress, the property will be distributed to local communes

There fore they will be sent to labor camps for 5 years, where they will learn the value of sacrifice and earning living. They will having nothing but a dry place to sleep, three meals day and six days of work on a state farm. The seventh day will be spent learning the value of Socialism
