A Brave New World Part 2

New France would actually be the best place to start a communist movement in North America, you are close to Mexico and (if not already allied) they will support you easily. But you did not hear me say that. :mischief:

OCC:

There never was a plot to turn the Miami into a Communist state. It was about freedom for Native Americans. It is not uncommon for nations to have multiple foreign policy objectives, even if they may seem to conflict with each other. So I repeat Lakota support had nothing to with spreading Communism to the Miami.

That being said I refuse to let this ruin the game for the other the Socialist players. I am dropping out of this NES. Since I am not sending orders, then none of my actions since the last update counts for squat. So there no official support for the Miami and thus all the declarations of war are null and void, because there is no action to declare wart about. Also pledge no to return to the NES so that there are no worries about this being a cheap move to get out of this mess.

So again none of this ever happened.

First, it doesn't matter what your OOC goals are, all that matters is what you do and what your national goals are in the game. Technically there should be no "OOC" discussion about goals etc.

Second, you cannot simply "wish" everything that has happened to go away because you decided to leave the game. NESing is a concurrent event, action does take place outside of updates in the form of diplomacy etc. Just because you are leaving does not erase what Lakota has done (and what has been done to it) since the last update.

Third, its sad to see you go for the reason that you hope to not "let this ruin the game for the other the Socialist players." If anything, it makes the story more interesting, the game more fun, and the stakes higher.

Real bummer. You could have at least rode this out to the end. The war hasn't been lost yet; you could pull a Vietnam and wear them down and force them out of Lakota.

OOC: Pulling a Vietnam usually requires some variation of terrain which is difficult to navigate for foreign combatants. The Great Plains are unique in this respect for remarkable flatness and incredible easiness in management and negotiation.

IC: Some of the fringe elements of the Republic of New France (namely the Communists and the American Nationalists, or AmNat) refuse to recognize the legitimacy of the New French government. They, in turn, use their own banners to identify themselves.

@ Jason

I have been pretty consistent with supporting the right of Native Americans to exist free from the control of white men. I defended the Iroquois from Quebec and the Nez Perce from Mexico.

Regarding the second action that will be up to EQ as to how the Lakota situation is handled.

I don’t have an issue with you or your true allies declaring war. It became ridiculous when nation with no contact with the Lakota or who were traditional enemies of Virginia declared war. It was definitely a case of people making decisions based on their OCC feeling towards Communist not how their IC nation would react.

I am leaving to prevent the insanity from spreading. Given the OC anti-Communist feelings these players will continue to gang up on Communist nations just because it is cool. I don’t want to drag the other socialists countries into this.

@ Circuit

I thought about it but it seems pointless. Yes I could stay and possibly become a rebellion movement. However, I don’t enjoy playing that way. Sticking around causing trouble just to punish other players for revenge.

@Crezth

You forget there are badlands which are an endless maze of canyons, western Lakota reaches the foothills of the Rockies and the swampy pothole lakes of eastern Lakota all provide good areas to conduct guerrilla war.

Mit Kapuze Gerechtigkeit

hooded-justice.jpg

A masked man has been prowling the crime ridden parts of Hamburg bringing vigilante justice to the good people of the city. His efforts over the past few months have brought down crime in the city sharply, and the rate continues to fall. This man, named Mit Kapuze Gerechtigkeit, or the Hooded Justice, by Hamburgers, stated to reporters that he "wishes to see the underworld filth eradicated and for people to be able to live their lives in peace". The hero has turned down offers for formal interviews which continues to add to his mysteriousness. It is safe to say, however, he has won the hearts of the German Empire, including the Kaiser, and will continue to serve as a role model to Germans of all ages.

It's not necessarily to "punish other players for revenge." You could become such a drag that they decide to pull out and let you do your own thing. It's a way to win the war. But if you don't want to play that way, that's fine.

@Crezth: There are lots of ways to pull off rebellion movements, and they don't have to involve unfamiliar terrain. If it all relied on terrain, how does Al-Qaeda (in Iraq) become such a pain in the... , seeing as Iraq's pretty flat, too. They hide in crowds, look like everyone else, and then, :ar15:.

Comparing Watchmen to the KKK is disgraceful.

@Circuit: I'd say the automatic weaponry and handheld high-explosives certainly helps. Not to mention a determined populace fighting off a non-determined and fundamentally soft superpower. Our buddies in Lakota are fighting Georgians and Virginians - not exactly the nicest kids on the block. Genocidal is more like it.

OOC:

Actually most if not all of those who declared war are members of the Anti Communist Alliance. Specifically for fighting communism. And Lakota are Communist and gave us the excuse.
