I lied in my above post. I will still take NEW Orders. Revisions will not be accepted. Hurry it up though, I can only offer another 6 and a half hours for this.

Alexei Vasilievich was walking along the cold streets of St. Petersburg, lost in thought. Accompanying him were four working hands from a local bakery, their arms full of freshly-made sandwiches and little desserts. Alexei chuckled as a thought came into his mind: 150 years ago, only a group of the elite would be able to afford this food. Russia had come very far in such a short time. He wondered where Russia would be today had the last half a century gone differently.

Alexei and his entourage finally arrived at their destination: the ancient St. Petersburg home of a once-great boyar family. As soon as he reached the door, the owner, a plump middle-aged man, opened it and greeted Alexei warmly. "Ah, Vasilievich, you've been taking your time with those sandwiches!" "You and your insatiable appetite Gavriil!" The two men could not be any more different from each other. The tall, lean, fresh-out-of-university Alexei came from a family that had moved to St. Petersburg during the reign of Alexander II, or Alexander the Great as he was often called. Gavriil, a religious man, came from an ancient boyar family who could trace their ancestry back hundreds of years. Yet here they were, united for a common cause.

As the jesting died down, Alexei noticed the sounds of debate coming from the distant ballroom. "Are they still at it?" "Yes, yes, your friend Ivan has been challenging Andrei Rublev for the past half-hour." Gavriil chuckled "Ivan's university debate courses haven't been helping him much; Rublev has gained the support of nearly the whole group."

The two men hurried back to the re-purposed ballroom in time to hear the end of the discussion. "All right, I concede the argument. But I just want to know: how do you plan to oust the reactionaries?" There was a brief moment of silence. "There is one and only one way to do this: peacefully. There are certain values that Russia used to stand for; violence is not one of them. We must not resort to hate, to blackmail, to illegal activities, to armed rebellion. If we did, we would be no better than them. And have no doubt, the people will rise up, for the oligarchy we are ruled by has not and never will manage to crush the Russian spirit."

As Alexei watched Andrei Rublev deliver these last words, the sunshine coming in through the ballroom's windows seemed to create a halo around the man's head. "Did I not tell you he has the aura of a saint?" Gavriil whispered. The young Alexei, having never been in a church since his baptism as a new-born, could not help but nod.

Seeing as I have trouble keeping up with the deadline I think I will drop as New France. Sorry.

MEXICANS REVOLUTIONIZE WARFARE. Mexico City, Mexico. In a great display of arms, the Mexican government has revealed its “secret weapon” in modern warfare. Using technology inspired by the development of the space program, rockets have been introduced to all elements of the Mexican military. The army has developed new anti-tank weapons of much smaller degree as well as developing new anti-personnel artillery systems. These artillery systems have been adapted to a degree by the navy, which has equipped their destroyers which the new rockets. Even more importantly, these rockets have been added to jets, allowing even greater firepower for Mexican forces in the air. These new developments have forced dramatic changes in military production and knowledge world-wide as the nations of the world stumble to match the new weapons and develop doctrines for them. (All nations except Mexico lose -1 to all military quality stats, units are downgraded where necessary to reflect need for development; fear not, units which you can no longer build but have will not be destroyed, also, you cannot go below 0)

REFUGEES SCATTER FROM PANCASILA. Calcutta, French Empire. As per the agreement with the Islamic government of Pancasila, the various non-Islamic groups within the island nation have been deported from the islands. The New Hollander government has provided aid in the effort, including a large part of the necessary shipping, sacrificing a good part of their export industry for the effort as private ships are commandeered. The refugees of all faiths have scattered to the far corners of the earth, as the various nations begin settling in with the new immigrants. Needless to say, some nations are experiencing the first signs of trouble from the arrival of a whole new subclass of society, threatening instability in the upcoming years as they establish themselves in their new homes.

ECONOMIC REPORT. Paris, France. The economic situation world-wide seems to be marginally improving or at the worst, stagnating, in most nations. Unfortunately, the continuing wars and outbreaks of violence in several new nations have disrupted more trade, causing the recession to slide ever more. Various governments have stumbled across some effective measures, and have even profited from the confusion internationally as new nations step into the economic scene. Below, as before, is the nation by nation economic report.

The first state funded hospitals have been opened, providing emergency care to any in need. KENTUCKY ELECTIONS RAISE DISPUTE. Danville, Kentucky. Elections for Congress and the Presidency were held this year in the North American nation of Kentucky. The Socialist Party defended their position, claiming that not only did they win Kentucky’s independence from Virginia, but that they have done much to maintain it. The socialists were heatedly opposed by the Conservative Party, which claimed that the growing ties with the Socialist Union of South America meant that the Socialists were little more than pawns in government. Their efforts were made even better as a scandal broke out in Congress when it was revealed several members of the Socialist Party were implicated in taking bribes from various individuals. The elections were still hotly contested, as the Socialist Party managed to maintain control of the legislature. Despite this, the Conservatives managed to secure the presidency, ousting full socialist control of government. Some Kentuckians have claimed that the conservatives used unfair techniques to influence voters, including intimidation and bribery. (-1 Stability)

NEW FRANCE ELECTIONS. New Caen, New France. The reigning political party of New France the Troisieme Facon has been ousted in this year’s elections. The moderate coalition just proved too volatile to hold together as national security concerns became in the way of cooperation. The nation’s conservatives claimed that the moderates were compromising the security of the country in order to make a profit, allowing in Chinese and Mexican businessmen. They advocated closer ties with France and Europe, as opposed to the Pacific powers. The liberal Parti Social-Democratique were swept into power, regardless of these concerns, promising more jobs and employment through greater economic ties with the nations along the Pacific Rim.

VIOLENCE MARKS QUEBEC ELECTIONS. Quebec City, Quebec. The elections in Quebec this year turned extraordinarily nasty as the nation moved for war with Canada. The escalation in the fighting there and the brutal tactics used by the Quebecois military shocked the populace, watching it on TV as the atrocities were exposed. The government has taken a severe beating, made worse when protesters against the war were gunned down by the military in the capitol, leading to hundreds dead and wounded. The Parti Nationaliste has found its support waning rapidly, and the Parti Social-Democratique presented a new platform, calling for the “peaceful restoration of order to Canada” as opposed to brutal annexation, promising to remain only as long as it takes to secure the nation’s borders. This liberal party has also pledged to reduce troop numbers and maintain a neutral stance to any further foreign wars. This pacifist stance has proven highly popular among the people, and the Parti Social-Democratique has swept into control of the government. (-1 Stability)

WAR DOMINATES VIRGINIAN ELECTIONS. Richmond, Virginian Empire. The raging issue in this year’s elections for control of the legislature of Virginia has been the war against New England. The Liberal Party has begun calling for the end of the war, hoping to capitalize upon the dissent against it. Unfortunately the failure of the New Englander assault on Richmond has allowed the Conservatives to maintain the support of public opinion. The Conservative Party has pledged to win the war at all costs, securing North America from tyranny. They have won in a landslide, a public sign of allowing the war to continue once again. UNDERGROUND VODOUN CAUSING TROUBLE IN BIG EASY. New Orleans, Louisiana. The government of Louisiana has issued a warning against an alleged underground movement led by religious vodoun leaders. The movement has been rallying people against the monarchy, using fear and their beliefs to intimidate people to join them. They have called the monarchy an abomination, and have vowed to remove the emperor and restore themselves to control over New Orleans. Protests and crime have risen exponentially and control over the nation’s capitol is being barely maintained, to the point where the emperor has considered declaring martial law and bringing in the military to restore order. FLORIDA OFFERS AGRIBUSINESS SUBSIDIES. Saint Augustine, Florida. The Floridian government has begun a major program of subsidies for the nation's significant amount of agribusinesses. UGSEA MAKES THEORETICAL BREAKTHROUGHS. Cape Menendez, Florida. The United Gulf Space Exploration Agency has commemorated its fifth test satellite launch this year, and have announced that several theoretical breakthroughs have been made. The Agency claims that it may be soon possible to launch living organisms into space perhaps as soon as 1985. Furthermore, the Agency has suggested in a few short years, it could be possible that warfare as a whole will end, as missiles and push-button bombing could conduct all war from the safety of a single base.

CANADA INVADED. Montreal, Quebec. The Quebecois, due to the outbreak of revolts and rebellion last year, have launched a full scale invasion of Canada. The Canadian military forces, already divided by the constant infighting of the past two years, fell like wheat in the harvest to the invading army. The air force was smashed in the opening hours of the attack and the army was routed soon afterwards as the Quebecois poured south. The heaviest fighting took place in Toronto, where the military and government took a final stand in house to house combat. Ultimately superior training, supplies, and numbers overwhelmed the Canadians and the lines were broken. With a lack of good hiding places in the mostly flat countryside, the remnants of the Canadian army scattered, many returning to their shattered homes. The Quebecois occupation has been notoriously brutal, with massive reprisals for disobedience and any civil protest by the Canadians. Over a thousand people are believed to have died in the reprisals, not including those killed during the prosecution of the war. The Quebecois have annexed Canada as a military territory, though recent changes in home politics have argued for a independent Canada under Quebecois control and occupation.

CHICAGO ABANDONS PENNSYLVIAN WAR. Chicago, Free City of Chicago. Despite a lack of any real activity in the fighting in Pennsylvania the Free City of Chicago has signed a peace treaty with New England. Seized assets and detained citizens of New England have been released from Chicagoan control after several weeks of negotiation. The Chicago government has stated since it is clearly the will of the Pennsylvanian people to be ruled from New England, that they have no business or sense in attempting to liberate people who do not desire the effort to be made.

PENNSYLVANIA WAR CONTINUES. Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The war between Virginia and New England continued throughout this year as both sides continue to struggle for victory over the fate of Pennsylvania. In the skies, the New Englanders continue to maintain marginal superiority over most of the fronts, though they are hotly contested by the Virginians. The year began as Virginia continued the slog north through northern Pennsylvania, ultimately pushing into New York proper on their way to Albany. This was temporarily halted as New England unleashed its full force in a massive attack on all fronts, including opening a new theater of operations. New England maintained massive bombing raids throughout the year on Virginian cities and factories throughout Maryland and Ohio, inflicting increasing civilian casualties, though relatively minor damage in infrastructure. The Virginians have contested this as much as possible as the air war rages onward and New England uses tactical superiority to stem Virginian attacks. A small New Englander force managed to defeat Pennsylvanian and Virginian forces defending Harrisburg, pushing east against the enemy lines. The New Englander navy sortied for the first time en masse since the Second World War, engaging and defeating the Virginian navy at the battle of Chesapeake Bay. The main New Englander assault however, came along the James River, landing in Virginia proper, after smashing garrisons in southern Maryland to secure air bases for the attack. With the land bases and carrier support the main New Englander army pushed towards Richmond. The New Englander forces and marines managed to push aside initial resistance, even entering into the outskirts of Richmond itself, the first army ever to do so. At this point, arriving Virginian reinforcements pushed back, driving them out of the city and back towards the beachhead. By the end of the year, the New Englanders continued to hang on to their main bases and air fields, using air power and naval gunfire to keep the Virginians at bay.

HONDURAN EQUIPMENT STOLEN. Tegucigalpa, Honduras. Scandal took place in Honduras this year as it was revealed that high ranking members in the military have been supplementing their own accounts by selling off weapons and army equipment on the black market. Some of the best weapons available to the Honduran military were sold off ambitiously by these leaders, and have since spread to legal and illegal paramilitary organizations alike across the Caribbean. President Banks has immediately ordered the arrest of the offending officers, and show trials have convicted them of treason, afterwards they were promptly executed. Nonetheless, the officers have made the leadership incredibly unpopular among the rank and file of the military, and murmurs of dissent grow ever louder. (-1 Army Equipment quality, -1 Stability)

CUBAN ELECTIONS. Havana, Cuba. The liberal Populist Party in Cuba was faced with two blows against their politics this year as they faced disastrous elections. The president was implicated in a scandalous affair with multiple prostitutes, and was forced to resign shortly before the elections. The second choice for the Populist Party was barely able to get any sort of message out and was widely regarded as an empty suit. On the other side, the conservative Christian Home Party viciously attacked the Populists’ policies, decrying the stagnation to the economy and relatively high unemployment rates. This conservative movement has vowed to pursue other options to rebuild the nation’s economic strength with morality and dignity. (+1 Stability)

PARAGUAY ELECTIONS. Asuncion, Paraguay. This year’s elections in Paraguay were a cordial affair when compared to several other nations over the course of 1983. The Partido Salidario found itself on the defensive, as they were lambasted for the lack of security and lax doctrine among the military. The conservative Asociacion Nacional Republicana managed to win enough votes to establish a majority in Congress as well as gain full control of the executive branch of government. The new government has promised to maintain and improve both internal and external security measures.

WEST INDIES ELECTIONS. Kingston, West Indies Federation. Elections in the West Indies Federation became intense as the Populist Party faced intense challenges from the other political groups. A lack of a charismatic party head and a fluid platform made it hard for voters to back the Populists on any one issue. Only the lack of any convincing politicians opposing the government made victory possible. Regardless, the Populists have lost control of Congress even as they return to the control of the presidency. (-1 Stability)

MILITARY SEIZES POWER IN CHILE. Santiago, Chile. The Chilean republican government fell this year to a bloody military coup as a revolt was launched to establish full control of the nation by General Carlos Torres. The various smaller cities and military bases were seized by the rebels with relative ease, gaining support of the military ahead of time and arresting those not loyal to them. The fighting was more intense in Santiago, as the government had time to prepare a true defense. The fighting was brutal and left many dead, both from within the military and civilian casualties. Regardless, the remnants of the republican government have been exiled to Argentina as General Torres declares martial law and seizes power. (-4 Militia Brigades, -2 Population)

AUSTRIA DEVELOPS MINIMUM WAGE. Vienna, Austria. The Austrian government announced this year the creation of a mandatory minimum wage for all workers. This came to the surprise of many as the Catholic Republic Party has not been known for its reform platforms. That said, overall it is a step forward for the cause of the working class, as they are provided a slightly better life thanks to government intervention.

SWEDISH GOVERNMENT INCREASES SPENDING. Stockholm, Sweden. The Swedish National Party has spearheaded a massive government spending effort to provide relief to companies hit hardest by the ongoing recession. RECONSTRUCTION BEGINS IN ENGLAND. London, England. The English military government, after finally stabilizing local agricultural production enough to feed the population, has begun efforts to rebuild the region as an actual nation. Faced with the standing embargo by the French Empire and other nations, England has found it hard to gather the materials for an ambitious new project. While some shipments occasionally do arrive from other nations, French naval patrols keep trade at a minimum. The relief this year caused by redeployment of the fleet elsewhere has allowed some trade to increase, but the problems still exist. The English have begun rebuilding the shattered roadways and clearing the rubble which has lain dormant for several years now. The government hopes that something resembling a revived nation will be restored by the 1990s.

TRANS-EUROPEAN PIPELINE CONSTRUCTION BEGUN. Kiev, Russian Federation. Massive funding and equipment were poured into a major project spanning across most of Europe. In order to increase trade and production between the major European powers, a oil pipeline has been survey and much construction has been completed, with plenty of funds leftover for next year's construction efforts. The pipeline spans from Russia, through Hungary and Italy to France, spreading the energy exports of Russia into Western Europe. The pipeline is expected to be fully operation at current costs by the end of 1984.

OSLO LAUNCHES PANDORA SISTER SHIP. Oslo, Norway. Due to the widespread global political appeal of the Pandora project, another vessel was launched as a sister ship this year, the Prometheus. The vessel is slated to take a different route even as further research continues on the original ship. Reports began to come in this year, though the expedition has not quite yet completed, as they provide evidence of underwater volcanoes, and what some believe to even be underwater sources of oil. They have announced that the bombing will not stop until the government shows more sympathy towards French policies and demands. Countless bombers and planes have filled the skies, pounding all towns, cities, and military bases indiscriminately through vicious carpet bombing. The country has been thrown into turmoil as the bombing intensified throughout the course of the year, through the economy into shambles and destroying most places of employment. The population has widely fled into the countryside causing ever escalating confusion as incendiary bombs continue to be dropped. By the end of the year, due to the anarchy, overcrowding, and bombing, it's believed that nearly a million Nijerians have fled or perished in the French onslaught. The International Red Cross has issued condemnation of the French actions, releasing horrific film shots of the devastation caused by the French bombers. SOUTH AFRICANS HUMLIATE FRANCE IN NAVAL BATTLE AS NATION COMES UNDER FIRE. Capton, South Africa. As part of its new aggressive African foreign policy, the French government initiated carpet bombing of South Africa, claiming it to be a threat to French imperial security, and calling for the establishment of a more friendly government. As in Nijeria the bombing was intense, leaving millions homeless and unemployed, while businesses were reduced to rubble. A blockade was also instituted by a larger fleet, thus giving an opportunity for the South Africans to strike back for themselves. Along the western coast, the South Africans were able to stage an attack upon the main French fleet, using the proud remnants of their fleet and air force. The smaller ships of the South Africans managed to get within the French fleet and inflict heavy damages. With most of the French escort ships scattered and harassing South African shipping, the small ships were able to strike hard and fast along with significant close air support. The French, believing that most of the South African air force was wiped out by land-based aircraft, did not expect the attack and their radar officials were asleep at the switch when the attack came at dawn. The planes strafed the carriers' aircraft and close air support dropped heavy bombs onto vulnerable points on the capital ships before they knew what was happening. As French escort ships woke up, they still found themselves under fire, though they managed to sink several of the enemy. After several hours of vicious combat, the South Africans retreated into port and back to the homeland, having inflicted a startling toll upon the French Imperial Navy. Two French carriers sunk within two hours of the attack's conclusion, while a third sunk attempting to return to port. Three battleships were damaged beyond repair as well, one sinking on the return voyage. Numerous escorts and submarines were also sunk throughout the day as strikes occurred elsewhere along the coast, taking advantage of the confusion. The French did manage to retaliated with a massive land-based bomber strike, annihilating the South African navy in port. Most of the South African air force remains intact however, at various hidden bases, often contesting French bombing attacks on the cities. Overall however, the French have faced a humiliating defeat, as the pride ships of the navy sink to the bottom of the Atlantic Ocean.

TURKISH ELECTIONS. Ankara, Turkey. The Turkish government come under fire during elections this year due to its failure to get involved with the Kurdish attacks upon their Turkish population. The Leftist Coalition defended their position, stating that an enlarged war benefited no one but the vultures. Overall, they seem to be justified in their stance, as the population seems unwilling to commit itself to a true war at this juncture. The Leftist Coalition managed to win with a comfortable majority in most elections throughout the nation.

EGYPT INVADES SYRIA. Damascus, Syria. Egyptian forces have landed in Syria this year to restore a new government to the region before the constitutional convention went underway. Though the local military was initially surprised, they rallied, declared martial law and went down fighting. Heavy casualties were inflicted upon the Egyptian invaders as the Syrians fought town by town to hold onto their fledgling republic. Ultimately superior doctrine and training won out and the Egyptians won the day, but at a hefty cost with many casualties. A lisist dictator has been installed as head of Syria with what's left of the local armies. The new leader is clearly a pawn of France, though significant amounts of Egyptian soldiers remain, consisting mostly of the remnants of the invasion force.

Egypt: -16 Class D Infantry Brigades, -2 PT Boats
Syria: -5 Irregular Brigades, -17 Militia Brigades, -23 Population

PERSIA CRACKING DOWN. Tehran, Persia. Reports have been coming out of the Middle Eastern nation of Persia, as it is claimed various individuals in opposition to the government have been arrested. Political opponents of the Khatami regime have disappeared from public life, and are claimed to have been executed, according to the underground press. Furthermore, numerous intellectuals and secular professors have been detained for espousing anti-government thought. It seems that the Persian government is growing increasingly radical as they silence all opposition, helping cut off any rebellious movements at the head. (+1 Stability)

FORMOSA CONSTITUTIONAL CONVENTION. Taipei, Formosa. The leaders of the newly independent nation of Formosa have met this year and after heated constitutional struggle have developed the basis for their government. The constitution for one of the freest republics in the region has been confirmed, assuring the rights of freedom of press and universal suffrage for all male residents at the time of independence. Though some argued for a stronger executive branch, or even the creation of a monarchy, the republicans prevailed, and power rests within the legislative arm of government. The overall government has been modeled on that of China, which has proven successful since the end of their civil war in 1930. Already political factions have begun to emerge as the various sides begin preparing themselves for the first free elections in 1984.

BUGIS ELECTIONS. Makassar, Bugis Republic. Massive illiteracy and lack of voter participation continued to benefit the conservative Republican Coalition in the Bugis Republic this year. With relatively few individuals actually voting and a less than twenty percent voter turnout, the conservatives continue to comfortably control the government. To those who listened the Republican Coalition has continued to pledge to keep hands off private lives and to allow the nation’s people to develop undisturbed by government intervention.

JAPANESE ELECTION UPSET. Tokyo, Japan. A new dawn may be rising for the previously isolationist Japanese government. As the crisis over the Sea of Japan awakens national awareness, the traditional samurai approach to government seems to be stepping back. The samurai themselves have split, as some acknowledge the rising tide of events, and the government votes in its first liberal government. The Samurai Coalition was defeated, in favor of the liberal Progressive Front, which has called for further trade reform and modernization. They have been the moving force behind the new treaty with Mexico and the development of a modern industry. While some samurai resent the takeover of government, they have determined to resist politically, rather than militarily. (+1 Stability; +5% Influence for Mexico)

NEW ZEELAND ELECTIONS. Nassau, New Zeeland. The government of New Zeeland, remaining mostly isolated from global affairs, has continued to work for the support of its people. The Christian Republican Party has vowed to maintain the rights of individual within the boundaries of the nation, keeping them safe from outside harm. They further gained the support of the people by unveiling a new carrier, purchased straight from the shipyards of New Holland. Opponents claim that the carrier was a vastly unworthy use of the nation’s limited funds, claiming the costs far outweigh the slight benefit to security. Regardless, the Christian Republicans won in a landslide, returning to power. (+1 Stability)

PHILIPPINES ELECTIONS. Manila, Philippines. The liberal Asia United Party in the Philippines has proven to be too divisive for the mass public this year. The debates over joining APACS and the subsequent withdrawal from the process during the Sea of Japan Crisis has left the AUP with much egg on its face. The Philippines has been looking for its place among nations, and not finding it with China, has begun to look elsewhere. The liberals have continued to persist on building ties with China. The moderate Philippines Democracy Party has suggested that building relations with Mexico is a stronger pursuit, following in the footsteps of Japan. The conservatives have suggested focusing on military power and looking towards the European superpowers for protection and economic prosperity. Ultimately the Philippines Democracy Party won the day, securing the presidency and congress in a landslide election. The moderates have pledged to continue work on building up the nation’s economy through ties with Mexico and the rest of the Pacific Rim trading nations. (+1 Stability, +5% Influence for Mexico)

KOREA INTRODUCES SUBSIDIES. Seoul, Korea. The Korean government has begun providing more funds for domestic agricultural production, encouraging it to take a place on the global market. The regime hopes to achieve some competitive value on the world stage for their production and thus help reboot the economy. Opponents of the plan say it does very little to aid in the reduction of unemployment and to help the common man, and is mostly a bribe to farmers. Supporters claim that creating a sound export economy is a strong first step to creating the other businesses required to reduce unemployment.

CRISIS IN THE EASTERN PACIFIC. Honolulu, Swedish Empire. War has threatened to once more engulf the Pacific Ocean as a crisis erupts near the Swedish colony of Hawaii. Over the past year, the Swedish garrisons throughout the Pacific have been dramatically increased, as has the local fleets and air forces. As the forces escalated, so have diplomatic tensions with the Pacific Rim nations. The crisis has come to a head as the Mexican destroyer the RMS San Diego was attacked by two Swedish fighters and the crew was killed. The Swedes claim that the Mexican ship violated Swedish territorial waters, stating that they were warned before Swedish planes fired. The Mexicans claim that they were within international waters and the Swedish attack was unprovoked. The attack has outraged the Mexican populace, many calling for full investigations into the matter. (-1 Mexican Destroyer)

MEDAN FALLS TO WRATH OF ALLAH AS PANCASILAN WAR EFFORT COLLAPSES. Pekanbaru, Pancasila. A natural disaster of record proportions has brought the nation of Pancasila to a crashing halt, far more than blockade or war has in the previous year. While French ships continued a relentless campaign against Pancasilan harbors and cleared the remaining ground forces from Bali, disaster was in the making. Long after the majority refugees and deportees had departed on August 22, French astronomical authorities confirmed that a small meteorite, slightly bigger than the Greek strike in 1953, struck the city of Medan in the very center of the town. The devastation was immense and immediate, having occurred during the state funeral of Agus Hartono, father of the nation, who had passed away a few weeks before during final treaty negotiations with New Holland. Almost all those with power and authority on Sumatra were present at the ceremony and most have been confirmed to be dead or suffering from "space sickness," first discovered from the Greek meteor strike. In addition to striking a harsh blow against the population and military infrastructure of Pancasila, the meteor has destroyed many former devout Muslims' faith in the cause. After all, how can they be favored by Allah if he could punish them so? The remnants of Pancasilan forces in Sumatra have been rallied under the leadership of General Muhammend Hamka, who has declared full martial law as the government tries to rebuild itself. Several small battles have had to be fought against other military commanders attempting to claim power for themselves, but General Hamka has managed to crush all opposition on Sumatra. The imams on a majority of other islands have agreed to recognize his rule so far, though reluctantly, providing their own militias to control the provinces so far. There have been several notable exceptions. Bali has remained fully under French control as final elements of Pancasilan military have been crushed in brutal jungle fighting. Islands formerly under Dutch control, being a strong location for the massing of Pancasilan dissidents before their exile, have declared independence as the Sunda Republic. The new Pancasilan government has accused the New Hollanders of sponsoring the new regime, and significant evidence suggests that individual naval and army officers may well have helped sponsor the effort or at least provided the communication tools needed to connect the military forces on each island. Dutch is even being used as a common language to help connect the multitude of various dialects and languages in the islands.

France: -1 Destroyer, -1 Class B Infantry Brigade
Pancasila: -6 Irregular Brigades, -8 Militia Brigades, -7 PT Boats, -2,022 Population

FRENCH CONSUL GETS EGG ON FACE IN CHINA. Peking, China. The French Consul Bruno Megret took a tour of China with much of the nation's leadership this year, culminating in a stop in the historic city of Peking. The tour was plagued by constant protests and anti-French demonstrations by the Chinese people, particularly inspired by tales of French atrocities in India and Africa. During the tour of the abandoned Forbidden City, a protestor made it through security lines and managed to hurl an egg at the French Consul, splattering upon his shoulder and face. The protestor, a humble factory worker, was quickly arrested by the police, but has been elevated to folk hero status among the Chinese people. Tensions have cooled between France and China since then, though the French government has expressed that it does not blame the Chinese government or people for the incident.

MEXICAN-JAPANESE AGREEMENT EXPANDED. Satsuma, Japan. The Japanese government has signed a further landmark treaty with the Mexican government this year, agreeing to exclusively trade only with Mexico. Further offers of military equipment and training have been assured in the treaty, bringing Japan securely into Mexico's orbit. The Korean and Chinese governments have expressed some concern at Mexico's growing control over the region, causing some to be concerned about Mexico as a possible political and military threat to the western Pacific.

Horrors of War: An African Documentary
Producer: Beria Productions and Paradise Films in association with the International Red Cross
Running Time: 122 minutes
Summary: Horrors of War has proven to be a cinema project of previously uncontested proportions. Film companies from four different nations cooperated in one of the most dangerous projects ever undertaken. Over a dozen film crew members died in the process of filming while more were injured or badly maimed. The film has been translated into Russian, Spanish, Chinese, and English, and distributed across most of the world. This film has highlighted the devastation caused by French intervention in Africa and even in the recent fighting in Pancasila, including films taken during French bombing raids and military attacks. The most memorable moment of the film is beyond description, depicting the destruction of an entire family by incendiary bombs in Nijeria, including their last moments as flaming people fleeing from their home. The film has been obviously banned in France and several other of its puppet nations, but has won over audiences world wide. The film was cited as the reason for the attacks and protests against the French Consul in China, and numerous anti-French groups have gained strength in multiple nations.

WORLD CUP IN DISPUTE. Brest, France. Numerous nations abandoned the World Cup this year, refusing to attend in protest to French atrocities in Africa, refusing to help support the economy of any French city. Negotiations have begun between various officials involved in the World Cup, and regardless of disputes, a compromise has been reached that the World Cup will be held as normal next year. Even while most nations' teams embargoed the Cup, the French team and several others continued to participate. Ultimately the French beat the Bavarian team 2-1 in the final game located in Brest.

I have determined to eliminate completely the generic method of building up the domestic stats. There shall be no more pity for the uncreative. If you want to build up these stats, you better come up with some good ideas for them. I’ll be adding various suggestions for creating these ideas on the front page upon the conclusion of the update. The reason I do this is to eliminate a rather unwieldy part of the ruleset in favor of easier moderating and understanding of the NES, in addition to enlarging the story element for all players. For those who have spent into this, fear not, I will be assuming that this will be reflected into all future projects you may launch relating to the spending you’ve done so far.

I’d like to go out of my way and sincerely thank Toteone for his orders. While, admittedly he does send more Private Messages than most :p , there is definitely quality within his quantity. Please do not think more=better from this remark though, in most cases, it definitely DOES NOT.

Germanicus12 has been dropped from New France due to inactivity.

Before the inevitable wailing and gnashing of teeth begins, I’d like to discuss the military quality reductions. Do not fear, this will not happen every other update. Depending on the progression of technology, this will only take place when warfare is radically altered by an invention. Minor weapons inventions and lesser developments will not cause the wide-scale reduction and unit deterioration. The reason I’m doing it this way is to reflect the need to persistently upgrade armed forces in the modern world. Fail at this and you will be left behind. Of course, it does cost a bit of cash, but the question is the same as it always has been. What will you prioritize?

For the moment, the black squares on the map represent "meteor strikes" and places to avoid due to "space sickness."

In troubled times such as these, such misunderstandings are bound to arise. The Chinese government treated us with hospitality and we know that the anti-citizen in question will be dealt with appropriately.

Your unlawful attack on French Naval Blockade Enforcers has not gone unnoticed. It is a severe tragedy that the government of South Africa would stoop to such lows as to foment this level of chaos. It is clear to us that they are a rogue state with no respect for the status quo and a healthy disrespect of order and civilization.

We hereby abandon our recognition in the sovereignty of the rogue state of South Africa. Peacekeepers will soon restore order that your nation so desperately craves.

Wow, it was an impressive update!! :) The only thing I'm missing is the update where my project finally comes into fruition... nevermind, l hope it'll come soon. And also, I like having a bit more of economic power :). As for the small part I had in the update... it was nice to be on the spotlight for a few moments. :D

We congratulate you on the incredibly hard work that must have been to go to so many places beset by the plague of war and film what's happening there at great risk for the lifes of the workers. We will make sure that our nation's priests pray for the lives of those who died in the effort.

Even though we are not a great power as you are, we do still wish to make our voice heard. You claim that the South African's actions in attempting to defend itself from your naval and aerial attacks are illegal? The next time you start a war and get mauled, you won't be able to claim that you are defending yourself, because it will be illegal. Or is it only illegal if one nation attempts to defend itself from France?

OOC: Yay, the GM liked my orders. (I was worried I was bringing the wrath down with the non-order PMs.) ^^ I'll work on cutting down order and non-order fat too!
Great update! And yay for more ambigous upgrading of civil stats.! (Also, does anyone know how to find 'the space sickness' black squares? Thanks.)

To the Sunda Republic from New Holland
We will send economic aid and help with organizational efforts, under your constitutional convention you will become a self-governed Territory of New Holland, to accede to full Provincial status at request. We emphasise that New Holland will prove a neutral arbitrator and generous caretaker in any organizational difficulties, aid distribution and potential civil strife. We will also gift your self-governed entity with rulership over the Moluccas islands of Pancasila, as rightfully belongs to New Holland under your administration and the territory of The Sunda Territory.

To the Pancasilan people from New Holland
God is with us, not you. We encourage you to continue rallying behind your currently secular leadership and to work for a democratic and peaceful tomorrow.

To the Pancasilan Government from New Holland
We will continue to honour the peace agreement as to what constitutes Pancasila by its loyal citizens and natural borders. We support your efforts at gaining control of your nation and extend our hopes and wishes that your government will be a stable and progressive one. We demand that you cede the territory of the Moluccas islands to be added to the New Holland territory of the Sunda.

Nijeria wishes to know what the barbaric French's demands actually are. Maybe you could have told us you would bomb us before you actually did? Has the French government not grasped the concept of ultimata? Or declarations of war? If we had actually known what French demand we had failed to meet, we might have been able to execute it.
