There's not much else to tell. I have a decent pc thats only a few months old, have downloaded dozens of mods fine, have ROM, have 3.19. And I downloaded it put it in the mods folder and it just dose not show up. I even tried redownloading it. I'm really hoping someone can help. It seems like a really interesting mod.

It should be unzipped into its own folder.

C:/......Blah blah..../Mods/Rise of Mankind - A new Dawn.

NOT!!!! ...Mods/Rise of Mankind/Rise of Mankind - A new Dawn. NO NO NO

A part from that, do other mods load??

Yeah, I have most of the major mods and they all load fine.

1st thing to check, is it actually in the Mods folder for BTS.

If you load up Mod 'x', is Rise of Mankind - A new Dawn also a folder in there.

2nd, is it just off the screen on the list.

3rd, Maybe its placed out of Alphabetical listing and is just listed.

4th, did you unzip it and install it correctly. It should just launch a self installer.

1.) No, though when I install it, it says thats thats where its installing.
2.) No
3.) Nope
4.) Yeah, it did

I dont know why it dose not show up

There is a thing which kind of annoys me. If I attack with a unit and it still has movement points left after the battle, it still scrolls to the next unit. This didn't used to happen, just wondering if this was an option added or if there is a way to override this back to default? Thanks.

Hi, I've been having crashes and it's been taking a very long time to take turns on an eternity, huge game , I know that with these settings it should take most computers a year to pass a turn but my new computer usually doesn't fill up one cpu, I've looked it up in your sourceforge list but couldn't find it, I also have another game in the future era that crashes half the time when i end the turn. Please help, thanks

Most likely culprit is your Video card and or driver.

I too have a game 'running' on a huge map, Marathon speed, but I'm having problems with my Video driver in my operating system of Ubuntu.

My only problem is that the current Nvidia driver, seems to be unstable.

Try updating the driver for the video card 1st. 1 Gig of ram is recommended, but I get by on 512 Meg card now.

Edit: Never mind the problem resolved itself, it might've been my computer overheating or something, thanks for your help.

Hey, I installed the game but it dose not show up in "load a mod" section... what gives?

Actually, I got the very same problem.

I installed the MOD into the BtS Mod Folder. It does not show up in the MOD-List and the MOD-Folder.

In Detail (Win 7 64 bit, Civ 4 Ultimate Edition, Patch 3.19):

1.) Dowloaded Installer.
2.) Set BtS.exe to "Run as Admin" (also tried deactivating UAC - same result)
3.) Install (as Admin)
4.) Install processes without complaint - Finished!
5.) No MOD, no folder.

Strangely enough, I got the same problem with my old PC (Win XP 32 bit).

Any suggestions?

Btw: ROM works with minor errors at the start of a new game ( ... can't find ... file)

By the way, is it intentional that you can get the benefit of guilds without running the actual guilds civic ?

I was running coinage and some guilds where providing bonuses for my cities but once I switched to the guilds civic they weren't anymore. Because switching the civic all of a sudden enabled the guilds hall building - only that I couldn't build it due to the lack of gold.
So by switching from coinage to guilds I wasn't able to use guilds anymore :crazyeye:

Any suggestions?

Problem solved.

The installer shows a path that is similar to the path of the Ultimate edition, but not exactly the same. I needed to select the correct path manually.

Installer had an error message, though, so I couldn't install.

In the end it worked by installing it to a seperate folder, than copying the whole DOM folder in the mods section of BtS.

I fixed the coinage bug in the mod, needed to edit the SDK for that and recompile the dll, so this will be a bit of a big attachment (1.5mb).

The bug was that once you used the Coinage civic and then switched to something else again two things would be wrong:
  • all your gold and silver resources would remain consumed and unaccessible
  • the minted-money bonus from Coinage would not go away, it would be even _extended_ by the same amount. This would continue successively so that switch back and forth from and to Coinage would give your cities an ever increasing, static money bonus. It was not only a bug but at the same time also a cheat ;)

I fixed both issues in one swoop.
The result is based on the newest beta build (version 2.0) from the svn repository. So if you are using either the newest svn version OR the installer for the newest beta build, you can use this fix.
Simply go to the directory .../[Rise of Mankind A new Dawn]/Assets/ and put thenew CvGameCoreDLL.dll there.

If I come across the movement bug again (AI player's units having an hardcoded commando promotion and always using your roads when invading), I will fix that too and merge it with the Coinage fix.

Regards, f.

EDIT: to anyone who has downloaded this already: please redownload the newer version as the first one included a crucial oversight in the fix.

EDITEDIT: version 0.3. Found a way to make the fix more generic. It now applies also if somebody would want to add/edit civics in the XML code and provide minting bonuses there, too. The older versions of my fix where working only on the coinage civic.

That DLL doesn't work - when I overwrite old DLL I cannot load ROM-AND mod anymore.

It is working for me.

It would be helpful if you told me how you installed the game, which version and what exactly happens when you try to load the game.

Ok..here it goes...
Game is NOT instaled in default Civ 4 folder.
Regarding ur mod i've installed "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn 1.75" and "A New Dawn 1.75C Patch". After that I started the mod and it worked OK. After that, When I overwrite CvGameCoreDLL.dll I cannot load ROM-AND anymore - here is what hapens:

Start BTS -> advanced -> load a mod -> Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn -> OK

BTS restarts

Starting, comes up to the "init XML" and then few windows pop-up one after another (8 of them to be precise and only option is to press "ok')

XML Load Error
Failed Loading XML file xml\GameInfo/CIV4CulturalAgeInfos.xml. (press ok)

XML Load Error
LoadXML call failed for GameInfo/CIV4CulturalAgeInfos.xml. (press ok)

XML Load Error
Failed Loading XML file xml\GameInfo/CIV4PropertyInfos.xml. (press ok)

XML Load Error
Failed Loading XML file xml\Units/CIV4SpawnInfos.xml. (press ok)

XML Load Error

after I press OK for 8th time Im back on Desktop.

I can start Original BTS and it works fine, and also if i overwrite old CvGameCoreDLL.dll I can load "Rise of Mankind - A New Dawn" without any problem.

BTW, I would like to say that u made a great job here (I discovered this forum and whole modding thing just few days ago), and I hope this post is helpful.

Thank you, and yes, it cannot work that way. Because I used the newest beta version to to work on. I got it from the svn repository.
I think this corresponds to the newest beta build of this mod too - v2.0. A link to that is available around here somewhere.
Or you can install the game from the svn repository yourself, there are instructions for that on the forums too. Usually using TortoiseSVN as client program.

Hope you can work it out. Or just ask if something is unclear.
