I preferred VB with bitters, but 4X during ship visits to Townsville or Rockhampton. Been awhile. Good info you got there in your signature and thanks again.

v643 stable, some balance issues, files and logs attached. long game 5 and 1/2 hours. 16 initial civs, huge map. Did play a gigantic map shortly, lost. Had the built x number forges quest and failed, which meant my rival built 20 before me. The meanee ;).

Have a fun weekend.

Balance issues will be addressed once I'm finished importing dll code from C2C; I know the game is pretty unbalanced now but since next revisions will probably change the core logic behind commerce / science / production / culture, balancing the game now means that I'll have to do it again next week. Since balancing the game takes time, I prefer to wait when I reach kind of a proper balance in dll development.

Just wanting to say "thank you" for this. It does fix all issues that were left (for me) with ROM, and makes it a wondeful experience.
Thanks again.

Im probably in the wrong place and judging by the dates on these threads I may never get an answer. But I am so frustrated I really don't care. For over a year now I have been trying to find out why in any of the Rise of Mankind Mods (Rom 2.92 by itself, and with AND 1.75) do some (by some I mean most) of my military units disappear after they win a battle? It only seems to when I am on the offensive. If someone attacks me and I win the unit is still there no problem, but when I attack someone and win, both of our units disappear and the fog of war returns where my unit used to be. This has to have happened to someone else. Please Help!!

If you find any bugs, other than those listed here already, please report them.

Known Bugs:

See The A New Dawn Bug Tracker

Procedures and Guidelines:
If you are using A New Dawn and no other modifications
  • Post in this thread with a bug report.
  • Include your A New Dawn.log file (located in your Rise of Mankind folder)
  • Include a save
If you are using A New Dawn WITH other modifications
  • Post in this thread with a bug report.
  • Include your modifications (preferably your XML & Modules Folders), or if not possible, upload your entire RoM folder. (To the file host of your choice)
  • Include a save

As for feedback, please post anything regard A New Dawn features only. If you use other modmods, you forfeit support from me, I will not debug non-AND mods. Main RoM feedback belongs in the RoM forums.

This shouldn't happen, I don't remember it happening in any version I've played of RoM or AND. Which version are you using? AND 1.75C and earlier versions aren't supported anymore. I suggest you try AND2; you'll have to start another game but I think you'll enjoy the new version. :)

I thought it was very strange too. Appreciate the reply though. Will definitely give AND2 a shot. Thx!

If this has happened to anyone please let me know!

Are you using single unit graphics or multiple (3 of a kind)?

Do you have any other version of A New Dawn or RoM that you play in between sessions of this reported game?

And because you quoted a jtanner post are you in fact using KROME or his version of AND?

Need details to figure out your problem, ie.; Mod name, version, set up options, have you made any changes, etc.

The FoW returning was a KROME feature at one point by jtanner and also used at one time by Vincentz and his VIP mod. Both these mods have a basis from RoM.

Suggestion, if there are other versions of RoM and/or AND in your BtS/Mods folder Cut/paste them to a folder outside of Civ IV directory. Then as you load the Mod version you are playing hold down the Shift key while it loads. This will clear the cache which hold other set up data from other mod versions that could be causing the graphic display problems you are describing.

Also do Not be playing from your My Documents/BtS folder with any RoM or AND version, this too gives problems. Only use the C:\Program Files (x86)\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods path. The \Program Files\ if you have a 64 bit OS will have the (x86). If you have a 32 bit OS it will just be \Program Files\ .

These are some starting points to begin tracking down your problem.

One more item, when you enter your game hold your mouse pointer over your flag and write down what it says for version and other info. This too is needed. A screenshot would be better (less typing and a pic is worth a 1000 words). :)

I am currently running BTS 3.19 with RoM 2.92 and AND 2.0 Beta 2. I do not have KROME. I have RoM and AND installed in the my games/bts/MODS file because when I originally tried in the program files x86/firaxis games/civ iv/bts/mods file, AND would try to load then crash to the desktop. Once I moved them they loaded up with no problems. It's crazy, I haven't modified anything and I've looked everywhere and can't seem to find anyone who has experienced this. I love this mod and will continue to play it. Just have to to deal with it. Sorry for all the words, and thx for trying to help!:)

What is your OS and are you running as the Admin? Are you using Steam? How much ram does your computer have? Your still short on giving details. Details are essential to focus in to find the trouble spot. General statements really do not help.

Did you try any of the suggestions I gave? Like Removing RoM temporarily from the Mods Folder and then load AND while holding down the shift key?

If placing AND in the C: Program Files....BtS\Mods path caused AND to not load then I would think that you are using Steam or you are not running as Admin on your Comp.

I am running as the admin on Win7 64bit. 4GB RAM, intel(R) Pentium(R) CPU B970 @ 2.30GHz 2.30GHz. I am not using steam, however I am using a virtual drive (Damon tools) in stead of an actual disc. This is the first time I have ever posted in a forum like this for a pc game so I do apologize for the incomplete information (learning as I go here). I am going to remove the RoM folder and then try load to AND as you have suggested. I will post with the results on I have completed it. Hopefully I have included everything this time! :)

FYI BtS, as of the Official 3.19 patch, does not require a CD in the drive to play.

When you load AND (after relocating RoM) be sure to hold the Shift key down while the Mod loads. This clears the cache which could be holding set up data from RoM that maybe in conflict with AND set up data.

Wow JosEPh II, I am absolutely amazed!! clearing the cache worked! The game is playing flawlessly and I cannot thank you enough. What a great July 4th!!

You're Welcome. :)

And Welcome to CFC and the AND forum too. ;)

Hi Guys,

I've got a consistent crash to desktop when hitting "End Turn" on the attached save file.

It's a game I've invested a lot in, so I really hope you have some sort of fix :)

I have cleared the cache, rebooted, etc. All the usual tricks, including setting all my cities to build nothing in case a new unit or building was the cause. Have included dxdiag to show you any system info you need.

I really hope you can help!

Edit - I updated with the latest SVN build, and the game lasts about 2-3 more turns before reaching a CTD, which I assume is the same reason.

Aside: - Also, the daily build from last night hoses the economy somehow. I went from 70% science making 30 gpt, to 0% science making -70 gpt.

Using Latest SVN nightly build installer.

Sarkyn, I've loaded your game (which is rev649) and it definetly works with rev651 (or not yet released rev652). I suggest you update your revision to the latest one. Probably you'll have some balance issues for a few turns but you can play on (I've played some turns with your game).

Where do I find the revision number?

I downloaded the "DOWNLOAD HERE" link at the top of the AND2 thread, which I assumed was the SVN nightly build. Can I see anywhere in any folder which version number I am running?

@Sarkyn: that link provides the usually most updated revision but depending on where you live "nightly" has different meanings :) So that link provides the most updated revision or the previous one if more revisions are released in a short time.
You can find your revision number by hovering your mouse over your flag near the minimap. It tells you the version you're currently using and the version of your last savegame.

Ah, I see, thankyou.

Having now loaded the game in 651, all I did was set ROM options back to what I had it before and then save the game again.

Then hit ENTER to end turn, and instantly CTD.

I turned logging on, but reading the log it isn't very enlightening. Is there any way I can provide you with more informative debug information?

Have you cleared your cache before loading your save in rev651?
Also please attach the minidump.dmp file found in main BTS folder. Thank you.
