One Feature from Rise from Erberus I missed in AND 1.55 is the avoid Angry Citizens Botton in the city view. I know its just a confort function but I find it very usfull.

Have Attached a Jpg with 2 partial Screens who show the function inc. a short description.

@Schwarzbart, basically what you want is a button, or something, which will automatically stop population growth if the city is about to become unhappy or unhealthy and turn growth back on when things improve. Is that right? Because I would love such a feature also :)

Added. ;)

Hey Afforess,

I'm chugging through a Beta 9 game now and I noticed that videos for Wonders aren't playing. I know this is normally a graphics option and I double checked to make sure it hadn't accidentally been enabled (the Don't Play Videos Graphics Toggle). Is this a known issue for Beta 9? Maybe they were disabled on purpose for the beta build? I kind of enjoy the videos now and then, so thought I would ask if there was some way to turn them back on.

Otherwise, Beta 9 is working fine so far (approaching Medieval era) and I like the rebalanced civics and buildings. I especially like that you actually have to worry about city happyness and health a bit more -- back in 1.52 it was almost impossible to have a dirty unhappy city once you got rolling. All of the early Civics also have clearer advantages for different situations.

As usual, great job!

I figured out the cause of the Wonder Movie bug, don't worry. :p

Please can anyone tell me what is going on?

I installed everything as per the instructions. When I load a game, it stops at unit initializing and I get a runtime error.

running windows 7

Sure, just did a reinstall of the mod and modmod. Running civilization complete.

Turned UaC all the way down.

Installed 2.8

installed 2.81 patch

(2.81 was running fine yesterday)

Installed 1.53 (all options but deep red) -> got the WoC installer screen telling me about the merges

Installed 1.55 patch -> No merge update

Ran the game normally and selected to load a mod -> RoM

Loads the mod (Init XML (uncached)) takes a while to load

Single player -> RoM Shuffle random other settings, giant map, random empire, noble difficulty, marathon speed

Loaded the game. It starts. Exit to main menu -Try to start another game. Memory allocation error - exiting program Reason:Bad allocation

Start up again and load the mod

Seems to work the first time now, but I get the error if I try to start a new game. Not as big a deal, I can definitely live with that. The other error was probably something with my installing.

Thanks!

Memory Allocation errors occur when your computer runs out of RAM. How much RAM do you have? 2gb is recommended for RoM.

As Afforess says you need more than 2GB RAM. The reason your second game crashes is because you already have a lot of data cached from the first game, and there isn't enough RAM to generate the second game. If you are having a problem starting a second game, playing a giant map with more civs than default is going to give you a memory allocation error at some point when the amount of cities and units really takes off (probably medieval era).

I have 3GB, play Large maps, and when I get to this stage I can keep playing, but if I want to reload the game I exit to desktop and restart the game to clear memory so it doesn't become unstable and crash on me.

My problem got sorted out (although I lost my saves in the process). I had 'misinstalled' the 2.81 patch; it was in a folder inside my RoM directory so it was not installed at all before I installed AND. :p Hopefully this time there will be no errors. Off to play now; got to catch up the lost progress from the save-desynch.

hi,

i still got issues whil trying to install A New Dawn 1.53, i did follow all the instructions, i made sure the path is correct, but i still got an error message when i try to install it.

the previous version i was playing with is A New Dawn1.51Beta2 is working fine, i still can't install the last one. i tried to patch with 1.55 but of course the game crashes at start..

i'm on Vista , i did not have Civ via steam ( got the Cds install )

and here's my ROM path : C:\Program Files\Firaxis Games\Sid Meier's Civilization 4\Beyond the Sword\Mods

i rechecked 3 times the path and still doesnt work.

Plz tell me that i'm a moron who made a stupid mistake  , then i can play this awesome mod again.

Get a clean copy of ROM 2.81 (delete the old version, redownload it, apply the 2.81 patch), then try installing again. Make sure you have UAC turned off or are running the installer "as administrator". Check the FAQ if that still doesn't work.

just did it, still don't work :x

re download rom + patch + 1.55

i checked the FAQ , Ofc i rerechecked my path and i still cant find any mistakes in it.

i tried after disable UAC , i tried with admin rights etc ..
i dont have any message where i can choose any path , after doublecliking on the .exe i got a 2 line error message.

I know it sound like my folder's path isnt right , but i just dont stop verifying for about 1 hour now

here it is

Error message is in french obviously, but maybe the "pattern" will tell u something :x

errorfv.jpg

here's an aproximative trad :

"Windows can't reach the peripheric, path or specified file. Maybe u don't own the correct rights to get acces to this element."

this error occurs right after double clicking on the .exe

A quick google search suggests that your AntiVirus is blocking access to the program.

Copypaste since I didnt receive a response in an earlier thread

In the first time ive had the chance to play this amazing mod ive encountered countless crash to desktops, normally I would simply load up the latest autosave, get angry a little and continue on, except this one crash I have consistently happens on the same exact turn no matter what way I try to change the game.

It simply is a windows error telling me that "Civ4 has encountered an error please wait while we look for a solution blah blah"
If someone could take a look at my save file and tell me simply how to fix it, if its my fault, or is a result of my average computer.

EDIT: As I was looking through the beta builds, it seems that "fixes crash to desktop during modern era" was fixed, is there anyway that I can patch and use the same save file?

Try this.

Hi Afforess

I too am getting a CTD on the exact same date. This is my second game with Beta9 where this happens. Both times in the early medieval age.

I have AND installed on a clean 2.81 megapack RoM install. RAM should not be an issue either as I got 4 gb.

I'm having a problem getting 1.60beta10 to run. When I start a new game, I get a host of (what appear to my eyes) interface initialization errors. I looked around on the forums, but couldn't find any other instances of the same problem.

Here's an attached screenshot.
